      • Combination treatment for onychomycosis using 1,064 Nd:YAG laser and efinaconazole 10% topical solution

        Background: Onychomycosis is one of the most common nail disease around the world. No specific treatment other than drug therapy and surgery was suggested till present. Systemic antifungal drugs for onychomysosis are effective. However, they require a long treatment time and not suitable for people with other systemic disease. Furthermore, they may cause many side effects such as liver disease. Also, many patients prefer topical drugs or physical treatment. Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of combination treatment with a 1064 Nd:YAG laser and efinaconazole 10% Topical Solution. Methods: Ten patients with onychomycosis were treated with 1064 Nd:YAG laser (PinPointe FootLaser, Cynosure, Westford, MA, USA) once a month with application of 10% eifnaconazole solution(Jublia, Dong-A EST) once a day. The effectiveness of treatment were evaluated with before and after photographs. Results: Improvement were shown in 90% of patients after the treatment. However, 10% of patients had no response. Conclusion: This clinical study suggests that combination treatment of a 1064 Nd:YAG laser and efinaconazole 10% Topical Solutionis an effective, safe, and convenient treatment method for onychomycosis.

        Onychomycosis is one of the most common nail disease around the world. No specific treatment other than drug therapy and surgery has been suggested till present. Systemic treatment with antifungal drugs for onychomysosis is effective. However, a long treatment time is required and it is not suitable for people with other systemic disease. Furthermore, it may cause many side effects such as liver diseases. For that reasons, topical drugs or physical treatments are preferred by many patients. Recently laser treatment for onychomycosis has been proposed. The efficacy of treatment is less than systemic drugs but, laser is more convenient, safe and accessible in treatment. As a result, the combination therapy using 1064 Nd:YAG laser and efinaconazole 10% topical solution was performed. Two patients with onychomycosis were treated with 1064 Nd:YAG laser (PinPointe FootLaser, Cynosure, Westford, MA, USA) once a month with application of 10% eifnaconazole solution(Jublia, Dong-A EST) once a day. All three patients were treated successfully. We considered a combination treatment of a 1064 Nd:YAG laser and efinaconazole 10% topical solutions would be an effective, safe, and convenient treatment method for onychomycosis.

        The effect of Carbontetrachloride administration on Lactatedehydrogenase isozyme patterns were analyzed by cellulose acetate electrophoresis for the brain, heart, kidney, lung, liver and mouse muscle. Each other tissue was found to have a characteristic distribution of these isozymes. At normal condition, aerobic tissue such as brain, heart, kidney, and lung were found to have all five isozymes from LDH_1 to LDH_5, while anaerobic tissues such as liver and muscle were found to have superiorly LDH_5 The toxicity of Carbontetrachloride administration was most prominence in the liver, and lung toxicity was occured also.

        열공형과 비열공형 피질하 혈관성 치매에서 위험인자의 차이에 관한 비교 연구

        Backgrounds and Objectives: Vascular dementia is a group of dementing disoders arising from various stroke syndrome. Among these. subcortical ischemic vascular dementia (SIVD) is regarded as a relatively distinct clinical entity. However, MRI patterns of SIVD are not homogenous. In some patients, lacunes are dominant, and in others, subcortical white matter changes are. This study was designed to compare risk factor profiles between SIVD with and without multiple lacunes. Methods: We divided 47 subjects (22 males, mean age. 68 years) recruited from VADAPET (Multicenter Trial For Evaluation Of The Changes In the PET Images Of Subcortical Vascular Dementia Patient) study into two groups one with more than 5 lacunes in deep gray matter (lacune group) and the other with 5 or less(non-lacune group) Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of two groups were compared. Results: Nineteen of 47 patients (40%) belonged to the lacune group. The lacune and non-lacune groups d d not differ in the following variables: age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia heart disease, history of stroke or TIA, history of trauma or major surgery, family history of hypertension stroke, or dementia, age at diagnosis of dementia, body mass index, white blood cell count, ESR, CRP, fibrinogen, hemoglobin A1C, total cholesterol. LDL cholesterol creatinine, proteinuria, glucosuria, and microhematuria. However, male sex, smoking alcohol. hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol were possibly associated more with lacune group SIVD than with non-lacune group (p<0 1) Multivariate analyses revealed that smoking, hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol were independent predictors of SIVD with multiple lacunes Conclusion: Our study suggests that SIVD with multiple lacunes may be significantly different in smoking habits hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol from SIVD without multiple lacunes.

        In short is as follows to research the present situation and mooted point, to get ready development direction of horticulture equipment in Busan. 1.Area of culture equipment in Busan is that vegetables was formed 1.7% for 435ha of nationwide 82,465ha, florist crops was formed 6.7% for 220ha of nationwide 3,299.2ha in standard of 1998. 2.In the present situation of equipment of vegetable culture, fruit vegetables are a lot more in culture area and productive quantity. There is mainly cultivated tomato, cucumber and unripe red pepper. 3.In the present position of equipment of florist crops area, cut flower is formed 76.8% as 169ha in nationwide florist crops area. There is mainly cultivated carnation, rose, gladiolus. 4.In the usual present position of frame materials in equipment, vegetables equipment is built at 82.5% with iron frames. But iron frames is far the lower rate as 22.6% than 87.1% of nation rate in florist crops. It should be converted to iron frames for the durability and efficiency management of environment. 5.In the usual present situation of covering material in equipment, it is in use soft film as 97.8% and have the lots use of PE, EVA film. 6.In the present position of environment management of equipment, as 88% used soft film which is habitual means, Heat culture is used warm-air heater around 95%. In the case of florist crops, rose was 4.3ha and eggplant was 0.3ha. In the case of florist crops, rose was 3ha by crops. In has to consider a special countermeasure in application and supply of farmhouse used the equipment in Busan because Busan was fell behind than other city in nutriculture area and culture technique. 9.In the export of horticulture equipment crops, vegetables are tomato, cucumber, florist crops are rose, chrysanthemum and europeans orchid but the work has not yet born fruit. It must be solve mooted point of low grade article, lack information. etc. So it is brought up the export horticulture.

        연폭로 근로자들에 있어서 신(腎)기능 장해 지표에 관한 연구

        A range of indicators is available to assess renal dysfunction in lead exposure. This study was undertaken to find out which indicators were most valuable as markers of renal dysfunction. We selected 75 male workers from the secondary lead smelter, plastic stabilizer and radiator manufacturing industries (the "exposed" group) and 64 male office workers (the "control" group). Blood lead; blood zinc protoporphyrin; urine lead; urine coproporphyrin; δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase activity; and urine δ-aminolevulinic acid were chosen as indicators of lead exposure. Blood urea nitrogen; serum creatinine; serum uric acid; N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase; urine albumin; urine α₁-microglobulin; and urine β₂-microglobulin were used as indicators of renal dysfunction. Urine α₁-microglobulin level was significantly associated with the lead exposre level. Blood urea nitrogen, urine N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase and urine α₁-microglobulin levels were highly correlated with indicators of lead exposure. Urine α₁-microglobulin had the highest correlation with other indicators of renal function. In addition, the proportion of subjects with high urine α₁-microglobulin levels showed a gradient with lead exposure. Conclusively, blood urea nitrogen, urine N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase and urine α₁-microglobulin are useful indicators, but urine α₁-microglobulin is the early and the most valuable indicator of renal dysfunction related to lead exposure.

        알루미나-유리 복합체의 제조에 이용되는 유리의 조성에서 ZrO₂의 함량변화가 복합체의 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향

        This study was performed to investigate the effect of ZrO2 addition in borosilicate glasses on the mechanical properties of alumina-glass composites. Porous alumina compacts were prepared by slip casing and sintered at 1100℃ for 2 hours. Dense composites were made by infiltration of molten glass into partially sintered alumina at 1200℃ for 6 hours. Specimens were polished sequentially from #800 to #2000 diamond disk, and the final surface finishing on the tensile side was received an additional polishing sequence through 0.3㎛ diamond paste. Biaxial flexure test was conducted by using ball-on-three-ball method at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Fracture toughness was measured by a single edge V-notched beam (SEVNB) method with 2.5×5×20 mm rectangular bar. To examine the microstructural aspect of crack propagation in the alumina-glass composites, Vickers-produced indentation crack was made on the tensile surface at a load of 49.0 N and dwell time of 15 sec, and the radial crack patterns were examined by an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The minimum biaxial flexure strength was obtained with an addition of 2 mol% ZrO₂ in glass composition and strength values increased with the increase of ZrO₂ content. 2. The minimum fracture toughness was obtained with an addition of 2 mol% ZrO₂ in glass composition and toughness values decreased with the increase of ZrO₂ content. 3. Fracture surfaces indicated the frictional interlocking of rough surfaces left behind the fracture front.

        Dens evaginatus is a rare developmental anomaly in which an enamel-covered tubercle projects from the occlusal surface of a tooth. usually lower second premolar. When the tubercle fractures, the pulpal extension into the tubercle may be exposed, which results in early pulpal necrosis, periapical infection and even osteomyelitis. We found the dens evaginatus in 16-week-old fetal mandible. Microscopically, we observed the protrusion of dental papilla into the dental organ and hard tissue formation which will be the tubercle by serial section. This anomaly was reported to be very rare in tooth development of fetus, so we reported this finding with brief review of literatures.
