A Fully immersive virtual reality system requires much cost and heavy equipments, therefore still far away from general-purpose equipment. Our system requires only CCD camera and beam projector system for implementing half-immersive virtual reality system. We acquire user's action from CCD camera and show interactive moving picture in 2-dimensional screen space. We implemented some kinds of digital contents on our system, which can be used in interactive computer game and for developing person's sense of eyesight and perception.

Laser surface hardening is an effective technique used to improve the tribological properties and also to increase the service life of automobile components such as camshafts, crankshatfs, lorry brake drums and gears. High power CO₂ lasers and Nd:YAG lasers are employed for localized hardening of materials and hence are of potential application in the automobile industries. The heat is conducted rapidly into the bulk of the specimen causing self quenching to occur and the formation of martensitic structure. In this investigation, the microstructure features occurring in Nd:YAG laser hardening SM45C steel are discussed with the use of optical microscopic and scanning electron microscopic analysis. Moreover, This paper describes the optimism of the processing parameters for maximum hardened depth of SM45C steel specimens of 3mm thickness by using CW Nd:YAG laser. Travel speed was varied from 0.6m/min to 1.0m/min. The maximum hardness and case depth fo SM45C steel are 780Hv and 0.4mm by laser hardening.
한국인의 온열쾌적감 및 생리신호에 관한 연구 -Part 3: 상하온도차에 관한 실험 결과

본 연구의 목적은 겨울철 난방시 한국인의 온열감각과 온열환경지표 사이의 상관관계 및 ASHRAE Standard 55-74의 쾌적영역과 한국인의 쾌적영역을 체감실험을 통해 규명 및 제시하는 것이다. 유니폼을 착용한 피실험자는 온도, 습도, 기류 등이 조절되는 환경시험실에서 2시간동안 체재하면서 매 15분 마다 전신온냉감, 쾌불쾌감 등을 신고하였다. 또한 인체의 3부위에서 피부온도, 환경시험실의 온도 및 습도를 매 20초 간격으로 측정하였다. 이상의 체감실험을 통해 아래의 결론을 얻었다. 1)평균피부온도가 증가함에 따라 TSV는 선형적으로 증가하며 열적으로 중립감을 느낄 때의 평균피부온도는 청년 34.0℃, 고령자 33.5°C이다. 2)TSV=0일때 청년의 중립 SET*는 25.5°C, 고령자의 중립 SET*는 27.0℃이다. 3)한국인의 쾌적범위는 청년의 경우 SET*의 경우 24.2-26.8°C, 고령자의 경우 SET*25.7-28.2°C로 ASHRAE St.55-74의 권장 쾌적범위 (22.0-25.4°C)보다 다소 고온지향적이다.

N/A Objectives: It was postulated that exaggerated atrial repolarization waves seen during exercise may extend from the PR segment into the ST segment and T wave, and thus can produce ST segment depressions mimicking myocardial ischemia. The aim of this study is to investigate whether or not there is any association between P-R segment slope and ST segment depression in exercise ECG for predicting accuracy of myocardial ischemia. Method: The treadmill exercise test was performed using the modified Bruce Protocol (Korea University Hospital Protocol) in 62 patients with chest pain. The P wave amplitude, PR segment slope and duration, the ST segment duration, and the J point depression were studied in Lead II and V5 in 39 patients whose exercise ECG suggested myocardial ischemia. The PR segment slope was determined by measuring the velocity of descent in mm/sec. Coronary arteriography was performed in all patients, and≥50% stenosis in a major cornary artery was considered a significant lesion. Results: The overall sensitivity and specificity of the exercise test in 62 patients was 74% and 43%, respectively. The exercise test results in 10 patients were deemed false positive because of normal coronary arteriograms and left ventricular function. The false positive group was characterized by more marked downsloping PR segments in Lead II at peak exercise (15.9±9.3 mm/ sec vs 4.8±5.6mm/sec, p<0.05) and more rapid peak exercise heart rates than those of the true positive group (151±26 vs 131±25, p<0.05). The sensitivity and specificity of exercise-induced ST depression for CAD were changed as following if positive exercise test with increased PR segment slope is considered as false positive test: 1) with PR segment is slope over 5mm/s: snsitivity 78%, specificity 39% 2) with PR segment slope over 10 mm/s: sensitivity 83%, specificity 45% 3) with PR segment slope over 15 mm/s: sensitivity 79%, specificity 46%. Conclusion: These findings suggest that markedly downsloping PR segment seen in otherwise positive exercise test by ST segment depression criteria is a sign predicting false positive exercise test.

‘Saebong’ is a double cropping potato variety bred by the Highland Agriculture Research Institute, NICS, RDA, in 2010. Althoughthe major double-cropped potato cultivar of Korea, cv. Dejima, with a dormancy period of 50-60 days after harvest was introduced in 1978,it is susceptible to physiological disorders, such as abnormal tubers and cracking, and common scab. The ‘Chubaek’ variety matures veryearly and has a dormancy period similar to that of cv. Dejima, yet it is highly susceptible to potato virus Y and has a low dry matter content. ‘Saebong’ was obtained by crossing ‘Daegwan2-8’ with ‘DH9-231’ in 2002. Seedling and line selections were performed from 2003-2004,and yield trials were carried out from 2005-2006 in Gangneung and Pyeongchang. Regional yield trials were conducted in spring and autumnin Namhae, Jeju, and Gangneung from 2007-2008 and in Muan, Jeju, and Gangneung in 2009. This variety produces many white flowersand berries, narrow green leaflets and petioles, and round tubers with beige-colored skin and white-colored flesh. Its dormancy period, whenstored at 20℃, was 50-60 days after harvest in spring, similar to cv. Dejima and Chubaek. The average tuber yields in spring and autumnregional trials were 40.4 and 30.5 ton⋅ha-1, respectively. It is susceptible to common scab but highly resistant to potato leafroll virus andpotato virus Y. Its dry matter content was 21.56% and 20.60% in spring and autumn, respectively (similar to those of cv. Atlantic and cv. Goun). It produces brighter colored potatoes and can be used to process potato chips and table stock after autumn cultivation in the potatodouble cropping area of Korea (Registration No. 4873).
Chelidonium majus-Induced Acute Hepatitis

The use of traditional folk remedies is increasing throughout Asia. Chelidonium majus, a popular herbal remedy, is used to treat abdominal pain caused by various gastrointestinal disorders, including gastric ulcer, gastritis, and biliary tract disease, because of its morphine-like effect. We encountered a 62-year-old woman with acute hepatitis, in which C. majus was suspected to be the etiological factor. The patient had taken high dose of C. majus extract for the preceding 60 days. The clinical context and the temporal association between the start of the herbal medicine treatment and her liver injury allowed us to attribute a causative role to C. majus. The diagnosis was confirmed by liver biopsy and the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences/Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Method (CIOMS/RUCAM) scale. After C. majus was discontinued, the liver function was restored to normal. In conclusion, because the use of phytotherapy is increasing, we wish to raise awareness of the potential adverse effects of C. majus.

<P>This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn (SS) on the protection of chondral defect and inhibition of osteoclastogenesis. To examine these effects, we measured the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) levels in SW1353 chondrosarcoma cells and performed tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining in bone marrow macrophage (BMM)-derived osteoclasts. To investigate the anti-osteoarthritis (OA) effects, we assessed TNF-α-induced MMP-1, -3, -9 and tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinase (TIMP) expression levels in SW1353 cells. We observed that SS extract significantly inhibited MMP and TIMP expression in SW1353 cells. Also, SS extract inhibited the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclast differentiation. These results suggest that SS extract may have a potential in the treatment of bone loss and chondral defect by suppressing osteoclast differentiation and decreasing the expression of OA factors. Therefore, clarification of the mechanism of the action of SS extract and its active components is needed.</P>
