By means of the model equivalence theory, this paper proposes a model equivalence based least squares iterative algorithm for estimating the parameters of stochastic dynamical systems with ARMA noise. The proposed algorithm reduces the number of the unknown noise terms in the information vector and can give more accurate parameter estimates compared with the generalized extended least squares algorithm. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated through a numerical example.

Background: Due to the unavailability of an effective vaccine or antiviral drug against the African swine fever virus (ASFV), rapid diagnosis methods are needed to prevent highly contagious African swine fever. Objectives: The objective of this study was to establish the ladder-shape melting temperature isothermal amplification (LMTIA) assay for the detection of ASFV. Methods: LMTIA primers were designed with the p72 gene of ASFV as the target, and plasmid pUC57 was used to clone the gene. The LMTIA reaction system was optimized with the plasmid as the positive control, and the performance of the LMTIA assay was compared with that of the commercial real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) kit in terms of sensitivity and detection rate using 200 serum samples. Results: Our results showed that the LMTIA assay could detect the 104 dilution of DNA extracted from the positive reference serum sample, which was the same as that of the commercial real-time PCR kit. The coincidence rate between the two assays was 100%. Conclusions: The LMTIA assay had high sensitivity, good detection, and simple operation. Thus, it is suitable for facilitating preliminary and cost-effective surveillance for the prevention and control of ASFV.

As the portable device hardware has been increasing at a noticeable rate, ultrathin flexible materials with the combination of high thermal conductivity and excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance are urgently needed. Here, we fabricated ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber with different loading graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs/EPDM) by a cost-efficient approach, which combines mixing, ultrasonication and compression. Further investigation demonstrates that the 8 wt.% GnPs/EPDM with only 0.3 mm in thickness shows excellent electrical conductivity (28.3 S/m), thermal conductivity (0.79 W/mK) and good mechanical properties. Besides, the 8 wt.% GnPs/EPDM exhibits an EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) up to 33 dB in the X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) and 35 dB in the Ku-band (12.4–18 GHz), superior to most of the reported rubber matrix. Additionally, the GnPs/EPDM shows excellent flexibility and stability with 95% and 94% retention of EMI SE even after repeated bending for 5000 times and corrosion (under 5% NaCl environment) for a week. Our flexible EMI shielding material will benefit the fast-growing next-generation commercial portable flexible electrons.

A new aminopeptidase (An-APa) was identified and biochemically characterized from Aspergillus niger CICIM F0215. It had maximal activity at 40 °C and pH 7.0 and exhibited a broad substrate specificity both on hydrophilic and hydrophobic amino acid residues at N-terminals. With An-APa hydrolysis for 1 h, the casein-pepsin and soybean protein isolates (SPI)-pepsin hydrolysates released both hydrophilic and hydrophobic amino acids and the hydrophobic amino acids having Q values (degree of hydrophobicity) greater than 1500 cal/mol were remarkably released. Leu, Ile, Phe, Tyr, Trp, Pro, Val and Lys in the casein hydrolysate after treatment with An-APa increased 18.61, 0.84, 11.35, 13.18, 3.34, 6.30, 7.46, and 8.19 mg/100 mL, respectively, and 19.72, 1.47, 18.37, 11.72, 4.61, 4.10, 8.13, and 5.85 mg/100 mL, respectively, in the SPI hydrolysate. Both accounted for 65.0% and 64.4% of total released free amino acids from casein and SPI hydrolysates, respectively. This indicated that An-APa could be potentially applicable in debittering protein hydrolysates.

Net nitrogen mineralization is one of the nitrogen cycling process, and it is very important to understand nitrogen mineralization characteristics in degradation grassland. In the upper 0–10 cm soil layer of Stipa grandis P. A. Smirn. grassland in the Xilin river basin, Inner Mongolia, we studied the soil net nitrogen mineralization and nitrification among three varying stages of degradation grassland and analyzed the relationship between the mineralization rate of the soil net nitrogen and environmental factors, using the resin-core incubation method. Our results demonstrated that, from May to October 2012, the accumulated net nitrogen mineralization was 21.620 mg kg–1, 12.486 mg kg–1, and 48.053 mg kg–1 in the slightly, medium, and heavily degraded grasslands, respectively and varied greatly among the three stages of degradation shown by the S. grandis grassland plots. During the cultivation period, the variation of net nitrogen mineralization and nitrification was similar to the variation of soil mineral nitrogen. The higher soil mineral nitrogen content indicated higher mineralization of net nitrogen. In July and August, soil moisture was positively correlated with the net nitrogen mineralization rate, and the correlation coefficients between these two factors of 0.73, 0.58, and 0.79 for the slightly, medium, and heavily degraded plots, respectively. The rates of net nitrogen mineralization and nitrification were negatively correlated with soil total nitrogen, but positively correlated with C/N ratio, and weakly correlated with other physicochemical properties.
