      • Down증후군에 대한 세포유전학적 연구

        The chromosomal studies on the patients who had been initially diagnosed as mental retardation, growth retardation, suspicious Down's syndrome or other genetic anomalies, were performed in the Genetics Laboratory, Yonsei University College of Medicine from January 1, 1974 to March 31, 1976. As a result of that, we present the 15 Down's syndrome karyotpes in this paper. Out of them, 13 cases have possessed the typical Down's syndrome karyptype, i.e., primary trisomy for chromosome 21 (47, XX or XY, -21) and 2 cases have had mosaic patterns (46, XY/47, XY, +21). Not any kinds of translocation of the long arm of chromosome 21 onto either a D chromosome or another G chromosome have been observed. In 2 cases; maternal karyotypes were analyzed but they are found out to be normal chromosomal patterns. One Down's syndrome patient with congenital lukaemia has only trisomy for chromosome 21 but not any other chromosomal abnormality.

        뱀독 Arginine - Esterase 가 혈액응고 및 섬유소 용해력에 미치는 영향

        N/A Objectives: Arginine esterase in snake venom cleave peptide bonds in the fibrinogen molecule, thereby causing either coagulation or incoagulability of fibrinogen. There has been a controversy over whether arginine esterase of agkistrodon halys venom has any fibrinolytic activity in the thrombin-clotted fibrin. The aim of this study was to see whether the arginine esterase of agkistrodon halys venom itself has direct fibrinolytic activity and to compare the sentitivity of fibrin made of both thrombin and arginine esterase to the fibrinolytic activity of t-PA and urokinase. Methods: Fibrinolytic activity of arginine esterase was measured both by the fibrin plate method, and by the chromogenic method(S-2251). Coagulation activities of thrombin and arginine esterase were compared by the thrombin time(automatic coagulometer), based on the equivalent unit of each. Sensitivity of fibrin made of both thrombin and arginine esterase to the fibrinolytic activity of t-PA and urokinase was measured on fibrin film. To see whether arginine esterase degrade fibrinogen chain directly, fibrinogen was incubated with plasmin, thrombin, and arginine esterase and loaded on SDS-PAGE. Results: Fibrinolytic activity of arginine esterase was detected neither by the fibrin plate method nor using the S-2251 in NPP. Arginine esterase has no effect of the fibrinolytic activity of the euglobulin fraction of NPP, urokinase and t-PA. Arginine esterase does not degrade fibrinogen chain directly. Arginine esterase was found to be as strong a coagulant as thrombin. But the fibrin made of arginine esterase was more susceptible to both urolkinase and t-PA than that made of thrombin. Conclusion: Arginine esterase from Agkistrodod halys may be an useful anti-thrombotic drug.

        원발성 간암에서 PIVKA-II 및 Lens Culinaris Agglutinin-A 반응성 Alpha-fetoprotein(AFP-L3)의 임상적 유용성

        Background/Aims: Des-γ-carboxy prothrombin(DCP), a protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II(PIVKA-II), and Lens culinaris agglutinin-A reactive AFP-L3 have been reported to be useful markers for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In the present study, both the PIVKA-II and AFP-L3 were analyzed and compared with a conventional AFP to determine its usefulness, specificity and sensitivity in the diagnosis of HCC. Methods: Sera were collected from 108 patients consisting of 17 patients with chronic hepatitis, 22 patients with liver cirrhosis and 69 patients with HCC. The AFP-L3 was determined by an lectin affinity electrophoresis coupled with an antibody-affinity blotting. Level of DCP was measured by an enzyme immunoassay with an anti-DCP monoclonal antibody. Results: The sensitivity and specificity of PIVKA-II and AFP L3 were 49.3% and 89.5%, and 32.5% and 85.7%, respectively. No significant correlation was found between the PIVKA-II or AFP L3 and serum AFP. No correlation was found etween the PIVKA-II or AFP L3 and the characteristics of HCC.         High lipid composition of particulate organic matter in the northern Chukchi Sea, 2011

        We investigated the biochemical compositions (lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates) of particulate organic matter (POM) as a potential food source in the northern Chukchi Sea. We aimed to understand physiological status of phytoplankton, determine important controlling factors, and estimate the energetic contents of POM. The major inorganic nutrients were generally depleted at upper mixed-layer depth (>20m). The average chlorophyll a (chl-a) concentration was 31.9mgm<SUP>-2</SUP> (S.D.=+/-31.3mgm<SUP>-2</SUP>) in this study, significantly higher than that reported previously in the northern Chukchi Sea. Small phytoplankton (0.7-5@?m) accounted for 65.9% of total chl-a concentration. The overall average compositions of lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins were 50% (S.D.=+/-10.7%), 35% (S.D.=+/-11.0%), and 15% (S.D.=+/-11.2%) for POM, respectively. Along with other evidence (e.g., low N:P and protein-carbohydrate ratios), the high lipid and low protein compositions of POM in this study suggests that phytoplankton might have had a nitrogen limitation and/or stationary growth phase in the northern Chukchi Sea during the cruise period, 2011. The overall average calorific content of food material (FM) was 149.2μgL<SUP>-1</SUP> (S.D.=+/-36.5μgL<SUP>-1</SUP>) or 1.0Kcalm<SUP>-3</SUP> (S.D.=+/-0.2Kcalm<SUP>-3</SUP>). The relatively higher calorific contents in the northern Chukchi Sea were due to high lipid contributions and the considerably high calorific content of FM per POC.

        The purpose of this study was to know relationship between important variables which influence lifestyle in college women`s health promotion, prove adjustable factors and provide basic data which develops nursing intervention health promotion program. The method of this study was descriptive correlational study. The convenience sample was 206 college woman who live alone in lodgings, dormitory, a reading room or off-campus housing. Research instruments were the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control(MHLC) developed by Wallston, Wallston & Devellis(1978), Interpersonal Support Evaluation List developed by Cohern, Hoberman(1983) and The Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile(HPLP) developed by Walker, Pender & Sechrist(1978) and the data was used after Factor Analysis. The result of this study was follows. 1. It can be found that the level of the college woman`s health promotion lifestyle was 2.46±.33 with higher fulfilling level: According to general characteristic, the level of health promotion lifestyle was 5% significant statistical differences by age and period of menstruation. 2. The level of health locus of control was 3.25±.31 with higher fulfilling level. 3. The interpersonal support level was 3.05±.44 with higher fulfilling level. 4. The level of interpersonal support turned out most convincing factor in health promotion lifestyle (9%). In addition to age factor, two factors was 10% power of explanation in whole health promotion.

      • 전격성 간 부전증 환자 16예에 대한 임상적 고찰

        저자들은 1979년 7월부터 1983년 1월 말까지 인제의과대학 부산백병원 내과에서 입원치료를 받았던 16예의 전격성 간 부전증에 대하여 임상적 검사실적 소견 및 간 조직 검사의 관찰 결과를 보고하는 바이다. Fulminant hepatic failure is defined as hepatic failure with encephalopathy developing in less than eight weeks in patient without pre-existing liver disease. At first, it was described as acute yellow atrophy by Rokitansky in 1842, and then details of clinical and pathologic findings were described by Lucke & Mallory in 1945. Its exact cause are still unknown, however, it develops most commonly as a coplication of viral hepatitis, and may also result from exposure to a potent hepatotoxic drug or from less common hepatic disorders and infections. We studied 16 cases of fulminant hepatic failure from July 1979 to January 1983 at Paik hospital Inje Medical College, Busan, Korea. Followings are the results 1.Sex ratio was 3 : 1 (male to female), and the peak age was third decade (7 cases; 43.6%) Mortality rate was 81.3%. 2.Causes were hepatits B virus (8 cases), hepatotoxin (6 casea and unknown (2 cases). Among the hepatotoxin, halothane was the most common (3 cases), Paraquat (Dipyridyl compound) was 2 cases, and others. (carbon tetrachloride, trichloroethylene, benzen, polyvintl alcohol, and H2 SO4) 3.Clinical menifestations: Jaundice was the most common and anorexia, abdominal discomfort and malaise were also noticed in 13 cases. In addition, irritability, abdominal distension, nausea, hepatomegary, fever, mental confusion, and unconsciousness were also noticed. 4.According to Grady coma scale, majority of the patients were in grade III or IV (13 cases), and interval between the onset of the first symptom and coma was signifantly shorter in survived patients than that of died patients. 5.On liver function test, A/G ratio was darkly reversed in all expired cases, hut not in survived cases. In all patients SGOT, SGPT, alkaline phosphtase, serum ammonia, and bilirubin were elevated, but serum glucose and cholesterol were decrease in all most all patients. 6.Prothrobin time was progressively prolonged in died cases but shortend in survived cases after treatment of 2~8 days 7.Histological findings of liver showed massive hepatic necrosis, cholestasis and acinar formations.

      • 30wt%Ag-36wt%Cu-32wt%Zn-2wt%Sn 브레이징 합금의 미세조직과 기계적 물성에 미치는 Ni 첨가의 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 Cd-free합금의 개발로, Ag-Cu-Zn-Sn기 브레이징 합금에 Ni을 첨가함에 따라 브레이징 합금에 조직적인 변화가 나타났다. Ag-Cu-Zn 기 브레이징 합금에 Cd 대신에 Ni첨가의 효과와 접합된 접합부의 미세조직은 EDS가 장착된 SEM과 XRD, DSC 등을 사용하여 분석하였다. Ni이 1∼2wt% 첨가된 브레이징 합금에서 Ni 함량의 증가에 따라 미소경도와 인장강도가 증가하였고, 가장 높은 인장강도는 Ni이 2wt% 첨가된 3076-2 합금으로 약 820 MPa 이었다. 브레이징은 850℃에서 15분간 대기중에서 노 브레이징 방법을 사용하여 실시하였고, 접합강도는 파괴 전단하중에 의해 측정하였다. 가장 높은 전단강도는 Ni이 2wt%첨가된 3076-2 합금에서 얻었으며, 258 MPa 이었다. The purpose of this study is to develope a Cd-free brazing filler metal. The microstructure of Ag-Cu-Zn-Sn based brazing alloy was affected by Ni addition. Effects of Ni addition replacing Cd in Ag-Cu-Zn based brazing alloy and microscope(SEM) equipped with energy-dispersive spectrometer(EDS). X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). As Ni is added 1~2wt% in the brazing alloy, microhardness and tensile strength of brazing alloy increase with Ni contents. the maximum average tensile strength of 820 MPa has been obtained from the 3076-2 alloy which were added 2wt% Ni. Brazing is performed on the STS304/STS304 by furnace-brazing at 850℃ for 15min. Joint shear strength was determined by fracture shear loading and the brazed with 3076-2 alloy(2wt% Ni added) showed the highest shear strength of about 258 MPa.

      • 한탄바이러스 감염 제대정맥내피세포에 대한 단핵구 매개성 손상

        Studies on the pathogenesis of hemorrhagic fever with syndrome(HFRS) in patients have been seriously hindered by the abscence of appropriate animal model. The major pathologic findings in patient with HFRS are generalized vasculopathy. However, the pathogenesis of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and bleeding tendency in patients with HFRS are not well understood. It has been reported that the specific viral antigens are usually demonstrated in the endothelium of glomerular capillaries, and resulted in application of primary cultured human umbilical vein endothelial of glomerular capillaries, and resulted in application of primary cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) to study on the pathogenesis of HFRS. In this study, HUVEC were infected with Hantaan virus. The outcome Hantaan virus infection of HUVEC were assessed by flurescence activated cell scanning(FACS). The result of FACS assay indicated that 11% of the cells contained veiral antigens on 3 days postinfection. The proportion of virus-containing cells increased to 85% by the fifth days, adn 96% by the seventh, respectively. These observed no CPE development in the HUVEC cells infected with Hantaan virus and observed up to 13 days. The sensitivity of immunohistochemical method used for the viral antigens appeared similar to that of indirect immunofluorescent antibody technique. The monocyte adherence rate of infected HUVEC was much higher that than that of uninfected HUVEC, The monocyte adherence rate of infected HUVEC was increased by addition of convalescent serum of patient with HFRS. Infection with Hantaan virus HUVEC stimulated the production of superoxide radical.

        남은 음식물 사료가 육성 비육돈의 성장과 도체특성에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to investigate the effect of feeding RFW (recycled food waste) on performance in growing-finishing pigs. Four treatments with 3 RFW levels were tried in this study; 0% PT (pellet containing 0% RFW), 30% MT (mash containing 30% RFW), 30% PT (pellet containing 30% RFW) and 50% PT (pellet containing 50% RFW). For feeding trials, 60 heads of cross-bred barrows (Duroc x Landrace: average live weight 30 ㎏) were employed to 4 treatments with s replicates of 3 pigs each. For metabolic trials, 12 cross-bred barrows (average live weight 68 ㎏) were used with 3 replicates. The results obtained are as followings; ADG of 50% PT was significantly (P $lt; 0.05) lower than 0% PT and 30% PT, but 30% MT and 30% PT were not significantly different from 0% PT. In F/G ratio, 2.97 of 30% PT was not (P $gt; 0.05) significantly different from 2.85 of 0% PT treatment. Dressing percentage and back fat thickness were not significantly different among treatment. Addition of RFW increased appearance rate of carcass grade A or B. Nutrient digestibility was decreased by increasing RFW levels. The 30% PT was not significantly different from 0% PT in both DE and digestibility of crude fat and crude fiber, but significantly less in digestibility of crude protein and crude ash (P $lt; 0.05). Economic analysis based on feed cost per weight gain showed that pelleting feed with food waste 30% was the most economical.
