      • 磁性 酸化鐵粉體를 使用한 含油分 廢水의 處理에 關한 硏究

        Waste water containing fine oil droplets is often treated by chemical coagulation processes. However, when the above processes are performed by adding fine magnetic powder and suspending them in oily waste water layers, the produced flocks containing oil droplets also include these magnetic powder. Thus coagulated flocks consisting of lil droplets, metal hydroxide and magnetic powder are tightened and sedimented in magnetic field. And these sediments are easily removed by moving magnetic belt or roatating magnetic drum. This paper reports on the fundamental data of above process, the structure of model plants and their operation data.

        Effects of a Novel p.A41P Mutation in the Swine Myogenic factor 5 (MYF5) Gene on Protein Stabilizing, Muscle Fiber Characteristics and Meat Quality

        Myogenic factor 5 (MYF5) plays an important role in regulating skeletal muscle fiber characteristics, consequently affecting meat production and quality. We identified a novel p.A41P mutation in exon1 of the porcine MYF5 gene by direct sequencing. The mutation was predicted to be destabilizing in protein structure based on the resultant amino acid substitution. We estimated the significant substitution effect of p.A41P on the energy stabilization of Myf5 protein structure. Then, we demonstrated that the mutation in Yorkshire population significantly affected muscle fiber type I composition (p<0.05), loineye area of lean meat content (p<0.05) and filter-fluid uptake of meat quality (p<0.01). Furthermore, dominant effects significantly influenced total muscle fiber number (p<0.05). This study suggests that the novel p.A41P mutation in porcine MYF5 may be a valuable genetic marker to affect the muscle fiber characteristics and consequently improve meat production quality and quantity.

      • Development of transgenic chickens expressing enhanced green fluorescent protein

        In this work we demonstrated the successful production of transgenic chickens expressing the enhanced green fluorescence protein (EGFP) gene. Replication-defective recombinant retroviruses produced from vesicular stomatitis virus G glycoprotein pseudotyped rerovirus vector system were injected beneath the blastoderm of non-incubated chicken embryos (stage X). From 129 injected eggs, 13 chicks hatched after 21 days of incubation. All hatched chicks were found to express vector-encoded EGFP gene. which was under the control of the Rous sarcoma virus promoter and boosted post-transcriptionally by woodchuck hepatitis virus post-transcriptional regulatory element sequence. Green fluorescent signals, indicative of the EGFP gene expression, were detected in various body parts, including head, limb, eye, toe, and several internal organs. Genomic incorporation of the transgene was also proven by Southern blot assay. Our results show the exceptional versatile effectiveness of the EGFP gene as a marker in the gene expression-related studies which therefore would be very helpful in establishing a useful transgenic chicken model system for studies on embryo development and for efficient production of transgenic chickens as bioreactors.

      • Controlling the Magnetic Properties of the Van der Waals Ferromagnet Fe₃GeTe₂

        Identifying material parameters that affect magnetic properties of ferromagnets is key to optimize materials better suited for spintronics applications. Here, we propose an effective hole doping method to modulate the magnetic anisotropy of a van der Waals ferromagnet, and explore the physical origin of this effect. Experimental measurements of the doping and thickness dependent magnetic properties of thin Fe<sub>3-x</sub>GeTe<sub>2</sub> show a significant suppression of the magnetic anisotropy with hole doping. From the measured and calculated doping dependent electronic structure, we find that the energy gain by the spin-orbit induced band splitting is reduced by the chemical potential shift associated with hole doping, which in turn reduce the magnetic anisotropy energy. The identified mechanism provides an understanding of the doping induced modulation of magnetic properties in Fe<sub>3</sub>GeTe<sub>2</sub> thin films.

      • Long Term Survivors of Advanced Hodgkin's Disease : A Retrospective Study at Paik Hospital Cancer Center

        1979년에서 1971년까지 13년 동안 본원의 의무기록상 56명의 호치킨 임파종 환자가 있었으며 이중 국소성 질환으로 방사선 치료 만을 시행하거나 본원의 화학요법 치료방침으로부터 위배된 진행성환자를 제외한 14명의 진행성 질환을 가진 환자 (남자 10명, 여자 4명, 연령 8-67, 연령의 중앙치 43) 를 장기추적 하였다. 화학요법은 표준적인 MOPP, BCVPP, ABVD 복합화학요법으로부터 용량강도를 절반에서 2/3로 감소시킨 변형을 사용하였고, 관해 유도요법으로는 14명에서 117회 (평균치 8.4, 범위 6-12), 재발후 2차요법으로는 7명에서 64회 (평균치 9.1, 범위 6-13) 시행하였다. 관해유도요법 시행 결과 12명 (86%) 에서 완전 관해 (평균 4.5회에서 관해유도) 2명에서 부분관해를 보였다. 완전관해의 지속기간은 8-107 개월 (중앙치 18) 이었고 8명 (67%) 이 재발하였으며 재발시기의 중앙치는 완전관해후 12개월이었다. 재발한 환자중 1명은 방사선 치료에 반응하지 않았고 7명 중 6명 (86%) 은 1차 화학요법과 다른 2차 화학요법으로 2차 완전관해에 도달 (평균 9.1회에서 관해 유도) 하였으며 2차 완전관해의 지속기간은 6-38 개월 (중앙치 24) 이었다 6명의 환자는 질병으로 사망하였고 8명의 환자는 무병상태로 생존하고 있는데 이중 4명은 지속적인 1차 관해(지속기간, 각각 22, 42, 46, 58 개월) 상태로, 4명은 지속적인 2차 관해 (지속기간, 각각 7, 21, 34, 34 개월) 상태에 있다. 전체 환자의 생존기간은 8-161 개월 (중앙치, 47개월) 이었다. 관해유도까지 소요된 화학요법 횟수, 높은 재발율, 1차 완전 관해율과 동등한 2차 완전 관해율은 본원의 화학요법 방침이 용량강도에서 미흡함을 시사하며 호치킨 임파종의 치료에 있어 화학요법의 용량강도가 중요한 예후인자라는 고전적인 학설에 상응하고 있다. During the 13 year period from 1979 through 1991, 56 Hodgkin's disease patients were seen in our institute. We reviewed medical records of the patients in advanced disease treaded with chemotherapy to study response rate, relapse rate and durations of response and survival. Pa-tients with localized disease amenable to radiation therapy and patients with advanced disease vio-lating our treatment protocol were excluded from the evaluation to have 14 patients left (10 men and 4 women at the ages ranging 8-67 wish a median of 43). Our regimen consisted of variants of standard MOPP, BCVPP, or ABVD regimens with half to two thirds of dose intensity. A total of 117 courses of chemotherapy (mean 8.4, range 6-12) was administered for remission induction. Two patients achieved partial remission, who refused salvage treatment. Twelve patients (86%) attained complete remission (CR) after a mean of 4.5 cycles of chemotherapy (range 2-9). The duration of CR ranged 8-107 months with a median of 18. Eight patients (67%) had relapse at a median of 12 months. A total of 64 courses of salvage treatment (mean 9.1, range 6-13) different from induction regimens induced a second complete remission (CR2) in 6 (86%) of 7 patients. One of 8 relapsed patients did not respond to radiotherapy and gave up salvage chemotherapy. The duration of CR2 ranged 6-38 months with a median of 24. Six patients died of their disease. Eight patients were alive disease free at 25-161 months (median 51), 4 in continuous CR (duration 22+, 42+, 46+, 58+ months each), and 4 in CR2 (duration 7+, 21+, 34+, 34+ months each). The overall survival duration ranged 8-161 months at a median follow-up period of 47 months. Although long term survival could be achieved in 8 patients (57%), underdosing of our regimen was suggested by longer treatment courses for remission induction, higher relapse rate, and high rate of CR2. The review of our data agreed with the classic theory that dose intensity is an important prognostic variable in Hodgkin's disease.

        Mobility characteristics of novel oligomer structuralized by biphenyl conjugated with electron donating units

        Oligomers containing biphenyl backbone were prepared by using Wittig reaction and their optical properties were characterized. The drift mobility of oligomers was measured by using TOF method. The drift mobility showed electric field-dependent character and coincidence with Poole–Frankel relation.

        컴퓨터 성능분석과 프로토콜 검증의 도구로서 사용될 수 있는 GSPN(General Stochastic Petri Net)에 토큰의 타입, 아크의 라벨링, 트랜지션의 점화(firing)조건등의 속성을 부여하여 확장된 SPN을 정의하고 이 ESPN(Extended Stochastic Petri Net)을 이용하여 다중프로세서 시스템을 모델링하는 방법을 기술한다. 그리고 다중프로세서 시스템에서 시스템 크기의 증가에 따른 분석 과정에서의 상태폭발(State Explosion)과 복잡도(Complexity)를 줄여 용이한 분석을 위해 통합상태(Aggregation State) 개념을 이용하는 방법을 제시한다.

        In the present work, the practical thermal design process of 1 DIN car DVD receiver described. In the course of its efficient design, CAE technique was essentially used. CAE technique has reduced research period, man power and material cost but has increased research convenience, organized results and persuasive power. CAE technique helped to study parameters such as vent, fan and heat sink. Using these elements, it tried to meet optimal thermal solution. But safety standard, printed circuit board and framework mechanism should be considered as the constraint. To overcome these constraints, we tried to communicate and compromise with projectors in charge. After all, the price of those efforts has made the most competitive heat sink for heat dissipation in the 1 DIN car DVD receiver market. Moreover, we are trying to save $3 per product by removing fan. This paper is supposed to show an example of the CAE technique and help thermal designers to make electronic packaging goods.

        Safety and effectiveness of direct-acting antivirals in patients with chronic hepatitis C and chronic kidney disease

        Background/Aims: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of direct acting antivirals (DAAs) available in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in Korea. Methods: In a retrospective, multicenter cohort study, 362 patients were enrolled from 2015 to 2019. The effectiveness and safety of DAAs including glecaprevir/pibrentasvir, sofosubvir/ribavirin, ledipasvir/sofosbuvir, and daclatasvir/asunaprevir were analyzed for patients according to CKD stage. We evaluated sustained virologic response at week 12 after treatment (SVR12) as primary endpoint. The effectiveness and safety were also evaluated according to CKD stage. Results: Among 362 patients, 307 patients completed DAAs treatment and follow-up period after end of treatment. The subjects comprised 87 patients (62 with CKD stage 3 and 25 with CKD stage (4–5), of whom 22 were undergoing hemodialysis). HCV patients with CKD stage 1 and 2 (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2) showed SVR12 of 97.2% and 95.4% respectively. SVR12 of CKD stage 3 and 4–5 (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2) patients was 91.9% and 91.6% respectively. Patients undergoing hemodialysis achieved SVR12 (90.9%). Treatment failure of DAAs in stage 1, 2, 3, and 4–5 was 2.8%, 2.7%, 1.6%, and 4%. DAAs showed good safety profile and did not affect deterioration of renal function. Conclusions: DAAs shows comparable SVR12 and safety in CKD patients (stage 3, 4, and 5) with HCV compared with patients with stage 1 and 2. The effectiveness and safety of DAAs may be related to the treatment duration. Therefore, it is important to select adequate regimens of DAAs and to increase treatment adherence.
