        Postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) is a new emerging disease in swine herds world wide, and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is known as a major cause of PMWS. In this study, the prevalence of PCV2 Rep gene was examined for the serum, nasal swabs and feces collected from 30 heads of piglets affected with PMWS and 10 heads of normal healthy piglets using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The diagnostic efficiency of the PCR was evaluated for different types of samples. Rep gene of the isolate (PCV2 S1) was then sequenced. In the group of PMWS-affected piglets, the prevalence of PCR-positive were 70.0% in sera, 33.3% in nasal swabs and 0% in feces. In the normal healthy group, the PCR-positive rates of sera, nasal swabs and feces were 30%, 20% and 0%, respectively. Seven piglets (17.5%) out of 40 showed the simultaneously positive results in both of sera and nasal swabs. The nucleotide sequence homology of Rep gene of PCV2 S1 as compared with the reference strain of PCV2 (GenBank accesson no.AF027217) was 99.3%.

      • 첨단시설원예 경영체의 정보기술 활용능력의 비교 분석

        정보활용능력이 우수한 경영체 집단을 "우수"라 칭하고, 정보활용능력이 우수하지 못한 집단을 "열위"라 명명하였을 때 두 집단간의 생산구조, 생산기술, 경영성과 등 여러 가지 부문에서 대별되었다. 그 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 경영규모별로 정보활용능력의 차이검정(분산분석)의 결과 경영규모별로 정보활용능력의 유의한 결과를 보였다. 시설유형에서 유리온실과 경질판 온실간 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 재배양식별로는 양액재배 경영체와 토경재배 경영체 간에도 유의한 차이를 보였다. 2) 우수경영체가 열위경영체에 비해 경영규모의 측면에서 두배 이상 크고, 학력에서도 전문대 이상 학력을 소지한 경영체 수가 두 배 가량 많았으며, 경영기록도 충실히 잘 수행하였다. 생산기술 부문에서 수확기간 및 가온기간이 길고, 온실 이용기간이 긴 것으로 나타났다. 3) 첨단시설원예 경영체의 정보화 능력 수준별 경영성과를 살펴보면, 정보화 능력이 우수한 집단은 열위한 집단보다 10a당 조수입액은 2.2배, 수출액은 2.8배 많았다. 경영성과 만족도의 측면에서도 경영성과에 만족한다는 응답자의 비율이 40%에 달한 반면 열위그룹의 경영성과 만족도는 12%에 그쳤다. 이러한 결과로 미루어 볼 때 정보활용능력과 경영성과의 관계는 매우 밀접한 관계에 있으며, 정보화능력이 우수한 집단일수록 경영성과가 높다고 할 수 있을 것이다. Information literacy and computer literacy is essential in problem solving for farm management. This study surveyed 552 farm of High-tech Greenhouse in South Korea, and examined how much the farmer of High-tech Greenhouse is literate in the information, and how much the management performance is affected by information literacy. The finding of this study show that the management performance is strongly influenced by information literacy of farmer. The superior information literacy farms return more double income than the inferior information literacy farms do. The export sales of the superior information literacy farms is 2.8 times as much as that of the inferior information literacy farms. The 40% of the superior information literacy farms was satisfied with management performance, but only 12% of the inferior information literacy farms was satisfied with management performance.

        참박과 호박 종자의 발아촉진을 위한 저선량 감마선의 효과

        참박과 호박 채종종자의 발아율을 증진시킬 수 잇는 종자 처리 방법을 확립하고자 저선량 감마선을 1∼20 Gy 까지 조사하여 발아와 초기생육 및 생리활성을 관찰하였다. 저선량 조사한 참박과 호박종자의 발아율은 대조구보다 증가하는 경향을 보였는데 효과는 종자상태에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 참박 70∼80% 발아율종자의 발아는 4∼20 Gy에서 증가하였는데 특히 4 Gy조사에서 가장 높았고, 80∼90% 발아율종자도 4 Gy 조사에서 효과를 보였다. 파종 4일 후의 발아율은 참박 70∼80%와 80∼90% 발아율 종자의 경우는 4 Gy조사에서 대조구보다 각각 66%와 26% 증가하였고, 호박의 70∼80% 발아율종자는 2 Gy 조사에서, 80∼90% 발아율종자는 8 Gy 조사에서 향상되었다. 저선량 조사한 유묘생육은 발아율이 증가한 선량에서 증가하였는데 특히 호박 70∼80% 종자의 2 Gy 조사에서 가장 높았다. 파종 6일 후에 조사한 참박의 효소활성은 4 Gy조사시에 단백질과 catalase 활성이, 호박의 경우는 catalase와 peroxidase 활성이 2 Gy와 8 Gy 조사에서 증가하였다. 참박과 호박종자의 발아와 유묘생육 및 생리활성은 저선량 감마선 조사에 의해 촉진됨을 확인할 수 있었다. To establish the seed treatment method of the gamma radiation for germination enhancement of bottle gourd(Lagenaria siceraria Standl) and pumpkin(Cucurbita ficifolia Bouche), seeds were irradiated with the dose 1~20 Gy of the gamma radiation. The germination rate in irradiated group was higher than that of the control, depending on seed condition. In the case of bottle gourd, the germination rate of 70~80% germinative seed was increased at 4-20 Gy irradiated groups. Especially, it was the highest at 4 Gy irradiated group. The germination rate of 80~90% germinative seed was the highest at 4 Gy irradiated group. The germination rate of 70~80% and 80~90% germinative seed at 4 days after sowing was increased 66% and 26% at 4 Gy irradiated group, respectively. In the case of pumpkin, the germination rate of 70~80% and 80~90% germinative seed was increased at 2 Gy and 8 Gy irradiated group, respectively. Effect of the low-dose gamma radiation on the early growth was enhanced depending on their germination enhancement. Especially, it was the highest at 2 Gy irradiated group of 70~80% gen inative seed of pumpkin. Catalase activity of bottle gourd was increased at 4 Gy irradiated group. Catalase and peroxidase activity of pumpkin were increased at 2 Gy and 8 Gy irradiated group. These results suggest that the germination, early growth and physiological activity of bottle gourd and pumpkin seeds could be promoted by the low dose gamma radiation.

      • 허혈성 심질환에 있어서 아데노신 급속 정맥투여후 관동맥압의 변화에 관한 연구

        Background: Adenosine interacts with A1 receptors present on the extracellular surface of cardiac cells, activating K+channels in a fashion. It produces coronary vasodilatation and AV nodal block. The half-time is one to six second and has ultra-short action. In ischemic heart disease, fractional flow reserve(FFR) can be achieved safely with intravenous adenosine infusions at a rate of 150㎍/kg/min which cause maximal coronary hyperemia. Purpose: We investigated the patients who have had ischemic heart disease(n=8). After adenosine intravenous administration(150㎍/kg/min), the effect cause maximal hyperemia of coronary artery. During peak maximal hyperemia, we reported clinical findings, coronary hemodynamics and electrocardiogram findings. Methods: After diagnostic coronary angiography and left ventriculography, catheter was advanced into the ostium of coronary artery. We investigated coronary hemodynamics such as systolic coronary artery pressure, diastolic coronary artery pressure, mean coronary artery pressure and heart rate. To assess the use of adenosine for determination of fractional flow reserve, hemodynamics and electrocardiogram were measured at basal state and during peak maximal hyperemia. Results: Symptoms developed 1.5-2 minute after adenosine intravenous administration and each symptom disappeared 2-2.5 minute after adenosine administration. Two patients represented asymptomatic appearance and six patients complained of flushing, chest pain, palpitation and headache. In eight patients with ischemic heart disease, 1.5 minute after venous administration of 150㎍/kg/min of adenosine, coronary artery pressure decreased and heart rate increased significantly. Conduction abnormalities after administration of 150㎍/kg/min of adenosine were transient 2nd degree AV block 2 cases(25%). Conclusions: Adenosine is a potent ultra short-acting vasodilator. Although coronary artery pressure decreased and heart rate increased and mild cardiovascular symptoms occurred after continuous infusion of 150㎍/kg/min of adenosine, it is useful as an agent for determination of fractional flow reserve.

        야생식물 중독의 임상 양상

        Purpose: With the recent boom in 'eating healthy', many adults are interested in dieting to prevent future diseases. However only well trained experts can distinguish between what are edible vegetables and herbs from their poisonous look-alikes. In cases where a patient unknowingly ingests a poisonous herb, is caught off guard by the poisonous side effects that occur because of their lack of knowledge of what they have ingested. This paper will focus on the need to educate the public about the risks involved with ingesting wild vegetables and herbs and study the emergency diagnosis and treatment of poisoned patients that enter the emergency room. Method: This study was done in the spring of 2004 (from March to May) in the Kangwon Young-Seo districts of Korea. 15 subjects used in this study, entered the emergency room showing signs of toxic symptoms. Data was collected by examining subject's records. Additional data was collected by collaborating with physicians in the hospital that diagnosed and treated the subjects. Identifying the poisonous vegetable or herb is the first step to proper diagnosis and treatment. Subjects admitted to the emergency room, underwent a battery of tests: laboratory examination, ECG, radiological exam and etc. Results: The demographics of the study encompassed subjects with the average age of $50{\pm}19$ years old. There were 10 men and 5 women. Common symptoms of this study included; gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain and so on. In the case of Caltha palustris ingestion, additional symptoms were present; bradycardia and hypotension which lasted for a long time. While cases that ingested Scopolia parviflora had little effect on vital signs but manic episodes lasted for about three days. Veratrum patulum ingestion showed signs of bradycardia and hypotension but contrary to Caltha palustris recovery was shorten by treating with dopamine. However, dizziness, headache and paresthesia of the extremities continued for a long time. Finally Sium ninsi ingestion showed visual disturbance, paresthesia of the extremities, dizziness as their initial symptoms. Conclusion: The risks involved with ingesting wild plants without the proper knowledge can lead to serious side effects and steps need to be taken to educate the public. In addition, all emergency physicians need to have a working knowledge of the symptoms and signs associated with ingesting toxic wild plants and need to treat accordingly.

      • Analysis on the Degradation Characteristics of 2G High-Tc Superconducting Wires in Accordance with Electrical Breakdown Voltage

        <P>Recently, extensive studies have been carried out on developing a high voltage superconducting apparatus as a substitute for the conventional one. superconducting wires used for a high voltage superconducting apparatus can be damaged under high voltage condition due to electrical breakdown and the damaged superconducting wires may result in the degradation of the critical current (Ic) and index number. Therefore, a study on the degradation characteristics of superconducting wires in accordance with the electrical breakdown should be performed. In this paper, the degradation characteristics of second generation high temperature superconducting (2G HTS) wires with respect to electrical breakdown tests are studied. The applied electrical breakdown voltages to 2G HTS wire are AC and lightning impulse (Imp) ; 50, 60 and 70 kV. The electrical breakdown test is successively repeated five times. The Ic and index number of 2G HTS wires were measured. The relationship between electrical characteristics such as the Ic and index number and the electrical breakdown was analyzed.</P>
