      • American Film Industry Challenges in China: Before and During COVID-19 Outbreak

        The stagnation of the U.S. film market opened doors for Hollywood to depend on Chinese significant huge revenues;investments;and growth opportunities. Hollywood becomes a destination for Chinese outbound capital. However;before and during the pandemic outbreak;it shows how incredibly vulnerable Hollywood is in accessing the world s biggest market. This study analyzes the challenges of the Hollywood film industry in China;such as rampant piracy;strict content censorship;US-China trade war;and the recent COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. This study sheds light on the gaps in the existing US-China relationships in the film industry. The original contribution of this research is to set guiding questions that can facilitate a strategic analysis of the film industry and how they will emerge from this crisis.

        Metrosexual trend in facial care products: Analysis of factors that influence young Chinese men purchasing intention

        Chinese men are now confronted by the very same pressures that women have faced in attempting to attain the ideal physical appearance which leads to more men are spending money on skincare products. This paper applies the ABC (affect-behaviorcognition) model of attitudes and aims to identify factors that influence the affective and cognitive attitude of young Chinese male consumers towards purchasing intention of men’s facial care products. The conceptual model was tested using sets of questionnaires that are distributed to male university students. The total sample consists of 402 respondents. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used as a statistical method to assess the statistical significance of the proposed relationships among sets of observed variables. The results indicated that social recognition, social expectation, and word-of-mouth significantly influence Chinese young men affective component to buy facial care products, while cognition component successfully mediated between word-of-mouth, aesthetic appearance, health concern, and purchase intention. Although facial care products are traditionally associated with women, the current research contributes to knowledge of the importance and trend of the men’s facial care segment in Asia.

      • Analysis of Young Chinese Purchase Intention on TikTok Live Streaming

        Nowadays, social commerce (S-commerce) has been pervasive and has become the mainstream sales and purchase channel. Live streaming as a form of S-commerce is the most popular and promising online commerce in recent years. Live streaming is based on real-time communication, which builds an instant relationship between live streamers and viewers, and this connection greatly helps emotional resonance and marketing promotion. As Generation Z gradually becomes the primary users of social media and their purchasing power continues to increase, it is significant for businesses and scholars to explore the internal connection between Generation Z and live streaming shopping. However, even though there are many surveys and reports on Generation Z, their studies have not thoroughly analyzed the purchase intention of Generation Z on live streaming. Therefore, building a conceptual framework by integrating the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the uses and gratifications theory (UGT), this study measures Generation Z users' purchasing intention on TikTok, Chinese mainstream live streaming platform. The results identify that users' perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, motivations for ritualized use, and instrumental use are significantly associated with their purchase intention through live streaming. This paper provides theoretical and managerial implications for scholars and marketers.

        This study examined the differences between South Korea and the United States of America’s interior designer's contract duty, standard documents, and reward. The research methodology analyzed many documents including AIA, ASID, and KOSID professional standards. The research process was as follows: First, find out the evolution of the two countries interior design professions and how each acknowledged contract documents. Second, identify the document guidelines established by professional organizations to determine suitable materials. Third, compare the two countries contract duty, standard documents, and reward. The results are as follow: Duty of Interior Designer: Little difference was found between South Korea and US interior design duties. Owner and Designer Contract Documents: In South Korea KOSID published contract documents in 1982 with first general revisions occurring in 1997. Designers work by using a variety of contracts including verbal, personal, office, and KOSID. In the United States the cooperation of National Association of Builder first published documents in 1888 with revisions occurring from 1911-1987. Today over 100 contract documents are published by the AIA and 7 residence documents are published by ASID. Reward of Interior Designer: In South Korea the table of duty rewards sets the base price with owner and designer making the final decision. Different rates are set according to total construction price and type of building. The highest billable rate comes from a museum, while an education facility has a lower rate; rates range between 5.0-25.5. In the United States firms use different strategies dependent upon project constraints and demand. Choices include fixed fee, hourly rate, percentage of cost, area fee, and retail method.

        Hedonic and utilitarian value as a mediator of men’s intention to purchase cosmetics

        Global trends towards men grooming behavior about their appearance are considered as one of the drivers behind the growing popularity of cosmetic products. Previous research on male cosmetics has focused much effort on the effect of factors on the attitude of male consumers towards the consumption of cosmetics with very little emphasis on hedonic and utilitarian value. This study investigates the mediating impact of two values: hedonic and utilitarian values between independent variables (brand reliability, facial attractiveness value, male identity reflection value, and health care value) and dependent variable (purchase intention). Both hedonic and utilitarian values are found to influence all proposed variables. The results also support predicted differences in the relative influence of hedonic and utilitarian values on male consumption of cosmetics.

        Facebook Users in United Arab Emirates: Underlying the Factors and Demographic Analysis

        This study examined the use of Facebook in United Arab Emirates. There were two objectives of this study. The first purpose was to identify the motive for the use of Facebook among people in U.A.E. This study conducted the survey using both qualitative and quantitative methods. One hundred eighty-three working people were used from the survey. Thirty-five questions identified from the interviews were used for the questionnaire design in quantitative method. Factor analysis showed six factors namely usefulness, usage, reliability, making new friends, ethical issue and openness of information. The total variance explained by all the factors was fifty-two percent. This study also examined the demographic variables whether they would play an important role in using the social network site. The study included two more variables, income and married status, which were not frequently examined by previous studies. MANOVA showed statistical significant differences (p < .01) across six factors. ANOVA results showed that gender variable affected only the factor of openness of information. Males were more likely to share their information compared to females. Income variable affected all the factors except the openness of information. The results showed that high-income people had the highest meanscores on three factors (usage, reliability, making new friends) while low-income people had the highest means on usefulness and ethical factors.Marital status had significant effects on usefulness, reliability, and ethical factors. Married people had the low scores on reliability and ethical factors. Lastly, education variable had no effect on all the factors examined.

        Clean Intermittent Self-Catheterization as a Treatment Modality for Urinary Retention: Perceptions of Urologists

        Purpose: Clean intermittent self-catheterization (CISC) is now considered the gold standard for the management of urinary retention. In the literature, several articles on patients’ perspectives on CISC and adherence to this technique have been published. No studies have yet explored the points of view of professional caregivers, such as nurses and doctors. The aim of this study was to explore the opinions of urologists about CISC and to evaluate the need for dedicated nurses specialized in CISC through a self-administered questionnaire. Methods: A questionnaire was developed to explore the opinions of professional caregivers about self-catheterization and to evaluate the need to provide nurses with specialized education in CISC. Questionnaires were sent to 244 urologists through email. We received 101 completed questionnaires. The response rate was 41.4%. Results: Hand function, the presence or absence of tremor, and visual acuity were rated as the most important determinants for proposing CISC to a patient. Twenty-five percent of the urologists reported that financial remuneration would give them a greater incentive to propose CISC. The lack of dedicated nurses was reported by half of the urologists as a factor preventing them from proposing CISC. A meaningful number of urologists thought that patients perceive CISC as invasive and unpleasant. Although most urologists would choose CISC as a treatment option for themselves, almost 1 urologist out of 5 would prefer a permanent catheter. Conclusions: This questionnaire gave valuable insights into urologists’ perceptions of CISC, and could serve as the basis for a subsequent broader international study. Further research should also focus on the opinions of nurses and other caregivers involved in incontinence management. Apart from financial remuneration, it is also clear that ensuring sufficient expertise and time for high-quality CISC care is important. This could be a potential role for dedicated nurses.

        Dynamics of kinetic geodesic-acoustic modes and the radial electric field in tokamak neoclassical plasmas

        <P>We present edge gyrokinetic simulations of tokamak plasmas using the fully non-linear (full-<I>f</I>) continuum code TEMPEST. A non-linear Boltzmann model is used for the electrons. The electric field is obtained by solving the 2D gyrokinetic Poisson equation. We demonstrate the following. (1) High harmonic resonances (<I>n</I> > 2) significantly enhance geodesic-acoustic mode (GAM) damping at high <I>q</I> (tokamak safety factor), and are necessary to explain the damping observed in our TEMPEST <I>q</I>-scans and consistent with the experimental measurements of the scaling of the GAM amplitude with edge <I>q</I><SUB>95</SUB> in the absence of obvious evidence that there is a strong <I>q</I>-dependence of the turbulent drive and damping of the GAM. (2) The kinetic GAM exists in the edge for steep density and temperature gradients in the form of outgoing waves, its radial scale is set by the ion temperature profile, and ion temperature inhomogeneity is necessary for GAM radial propagation. (3) The development of the neoclassical electric field evolves through different phases of relaxation, including GAMs, their radial propagation and their long-time collisional decay. (4) Natural consequences of orbits in the pedestal and scrape-off layer region in divertor geometry are substantial non-Maxwellian ion distributions and parallel flow characteristics qualitatively like those observed in experiments.</P>

        Larvicidal activity of affinin and its derived amides fromHeliopsis longipes A. Gray Blake against Anopheles albimanus and Aedes aegypti

        Heliopsis longipes has been recognized as a potential source of insecticidal compounds called alkamides, which can be used to control populations of insect vector transmitters of several diseases that affect the human health. To determine the insecticidal activity of H. longipes against Anopheles albimanus and Aedes aegypti, crude extract of H. longipes roots and affininwere obtained. Catalytic reduction of affininwas performed to obtain two reduced amides, N-isobutil-2E-decenamide and N-isobutil-decanamide. Crude extract, affinin and its reduced amides were evaluated against third instar larvae of An. albimanus and Ae. aegypti. Results show that crude extract of H. longipes possess larvicidal activity against larval stage of An. albimanus and Ae. aegypti. This effect could be attributed to affinin, on which the conjugated double bonds present in the structure of the molecule are necessary to maintain larvicidal activity. This study demonstrated the potential of H. longipes to control larval stage of An. albimanus and Ae. aegypti, transmitter vectors of malaria and dengue fever, respectively.
