계층적 클러스터링 기법을 이용한 확장 불리언 모델의 적합성 피드백 방법

적합성 피드백 방법은 다음 검색 질의어와 검색 성능을 향상시키기 위해 사용자로부터 획득된 정보를 사용한다. 일반적으로 적합성 피드백 방법은 사용자로부터 획득된 정보를 새로운 질의어에 추가될 새로운 단어를 찾거나 질의어에 존재하는 단어의 가중치를 조정하는데 사용한다. 그러나 확장 불리언 검색 모델에서 적합성 피드백은 이것들뿐만 아니라 질의어에 있는 단어들을 적절하게 불리언 연산자(AND/OR)로 연결시켜야 한다. Salton과 그의 동료들은 확장 불리언 모델을 위한 DNF(disjunctive normal form)방법이라 불리는 적합성 피드백 방법을 제안하였다. 그렇지만 이 방법은 질의어를 재구성할 때 심각한 문제점을 갖고 있다. 이 논문에서는 DNF 방법의 문제점을 조사하고 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해 계층적 클러스터링 기법을 이용한 적합성 피드백 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 두개의 실험 데이타 집합인 TREC 1의 DOE 컬렉션과 Web TREC 10 컬렉션을 이용하여 제안한 방법의 우수성을 보였다. The relevance feedback process uses information obtained from a user about an initially retrieved set of documents to improve subsequent search formulations and retrieval performance. In the extended Boolean model, the relevance feedback implies not only that new query terms must be identified, but also that the terms must be connected with the Boolean AND/OR operators properly. Salton et al. proposed a relevance feedback method for the extended Boolean model, called the DNF (disjunctive normal form) method. However, this method has a critical problem in generating a reformulated queries. In this study, we investigate the problem of the DNF method and propose a relevance feedback method using hierarchical clustering techniques to solve the problem. We show the results of experiments which are performed on two data sets: the DOE collection in TREC 1 and the Web TREC 10 collection.

In recent years, concern among car users about air quality inside car cabins has been steadily increasing. A vehicle exhaust gases such as carbon monoxide(CO) and nitrogen oxides(NOx) entering the cabin not only reduce the quality of experience for everyone in the car, but are also harmful to the health. Therefore, an air quality sensor(AQS) system which can perform this function is issued. In this paper, the design of channel structure for an automotive AQS system was studied by computational fluid dynamic analysis according to the design parameters such as the number of air inlet, membrane porosity and permeability. Form these simulation results, the AQS system was developed and the performance test was conducted. And then we proposed new design of the AQS system to improve the performances which are response time and sensitivity.

정보검색 분야에서 시소러스는 용어와 용어 사이의 관계를 나타내어, 질의어와 검색될 정보 사이에 존재하는 용어적 차이를 줄이는데 사용될 수 있다. 시소러스를 사용하는 방법 중 진보된 것은 용어 사이의 관계에 가중치를 주어, 소위 스프레딩 엑티베이션 방법을 이용하여 주어진 용어에서 다른 용어들 사이의 유사성을 측정하여 이를 검색에 이용한다. 그러나, 이러한 방법은 가중치를 어떻게 할당하느냐에 따라 그 결과가 달라지는 문제점이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 시소러스의 가중치를 사용자의 검색된 정보에 대한 적합성 반응에 근거하여 조절할 수 있는 신경망 기반 시소러스를 제안한다. 제안된 시소러스의 타당성을 위하여 프로토타입의 시소러스를 WordNet으로부터 추출하여 실험하였으며, 그 결과로 recallprecision 값이 향상됨을 보였다. In the field of information retrieval, thesaurus can be used to bridge the gap between the terminology used in defining queries and the terminology used in representing documents. In many approaches using thesauri, they compute the similarity between terms using so called spreading activation process with the term weights in thesauri. One difficulty with these approaches is that the resulting performance is sensitive to the weight assignments. In this paper, we propose a thesaurus model using a neural network in which the term weights can be adjusted by users' relevance feedback. Experiment are performed on a small document collection using a proto-typed thesaurus extracted from WordNet. The result shows excellent performance in terms of recall-precision values.

This paper presents the micro positioning/tilting system with flexure. The basic principle and the operation mechanism were introduced. The micro positioning system consists of a moving platform, three piezoelectric actuators, clamper and flexure hinges. The flexure hinges which are beam hinge, spherical notch joint, wide range hinge are designed and fabricated. The FEM simulation was used to design and optimize the flexure hinges mechanism. Form the result of FEM simulation we fabricated the micro position system by CNC machine and WEDM with the material of SUS 304. To evaluate the performance of the fabricated micro positioning system, the output displacement of the moving plate in vertical direction was measured and tested.

Proposed Assessment for Quality of Experience of Live IPTV in Home Environments

As the speed of networks that subscribers can use has greatly increased, demand for high-quality broadcast content, such as from Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Video on Demand (VoD), is likewise increasing. Therefore, while broadcasters are increasing content and channels, they are striving to improve consumer quality of experience (QoE) to differentiate themselves from competitors, including by producing higher physical-quality content. Recently, subjective measurement methods have been internationally standardized as the most reliable approach for measuring and evaluating IPTV QoE. However, a majority of these methods are performed in experimental environments and are based on the extremely brief viewing period of approximately ten seconds using original reference videos. It is actually difficult to apply standard evaluation methods based on a ten-second viewing interval to assess real broadcast watching of IPTV or other services that involve a longer time (i.e., more than thirty minutes). In this paper, we therefore propose a method that accommodates actual viewing environments. Using the mean opinion score, we experimentally analyze the effects of evaluation interval changes under actual conditions in which IPTV service is provided. In addition, we propose improvements by applying the results into actual live broadcast IPTV service and by analyzing consumer service QoE.
