Tsai(2015)에서는 중국어의 기능성분은 경동사구 외연과 좌측 외연이라는 두 특정 영역에 집중되어 있으며, 이는 다시 통사-의미 접합면에서 각각 동반성과인과성에 결부되어 있음을 밝히고 있다. 의문/재귀 부사어, 경동사, 부가논항, 목적어 전치 등 중국어 및 언어 교차적인 다양한 사례들은 내부-외부 이분법의 존재에 강력한 입증자료를 제공해 준다. 이러한 연구결과는 지형학적인 접근법에 기초하여 통사-의미의 사상관계를 폭넓게 이해하는데 크게 기여하고 있다. This paper is a translation of the first half part of Tsai(2015)’s influential work, which provides new insights into the architecture of Chinese grammar, particularly in mapping out the topography of Chinese functional elements. Tsai shows that the distribution of Chinese functional elements is concentrated in two specific areas (i.e., the vP periphery and the left periphery), which in turn are associated with comitativity and causality respectively through the syntax-semantics interface. Both language-internal and cross-linguistic evidence from wh-/reflexive adverbials, light verbs, applicatives, and object fronting lend strong support to the existence of the inner-outer dichotomy. These findings make a great contribution to the full understanding of the nature of syntax-semantics mapping under the cartographic approach.

Background/Aims: Exacerbating factors of ulcerative colitis (UC) are multiple and complex with individual influence. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of disease control by searching and restricting inflammation trigger factors of UC relapse individually in daily clinical practice. Methods: Both patients with UC history or new diagnosis were asked to avoid dairy products at first doctor visit. Individual-reported potential trigger factors were restricted when UC flared up (Mayo endoscopy score ≥1) from remission status. The remission rate, duration to remission and medication were analyzed between the groups of factor restriction complete, incomplete and unknown. Results: The total remission rate was 91.7% of 108 patients with complete restriction of dairy product. The duration to remission of UC history group was significantly longer than that of new diagnosis group (88.5 days vs. 43.4 days, P=0.006) in patients with initial endoscopic score 2–3, but no difference in patients with score 1. After first remission, the inflammation trigger factors in 161 relapse episodes of 72 patients were multiple and personal. Milk/dairy products, herb medicine/Chinese tonic food and dietary supplement were the common factors, followed by psychological issues, non-dietary factors (smoking cessation, cosmetic products) and discontinuation of medication by patients themselves. Factor unknown accounted for 14.1% of patients. The benefits of factor complete restriction included shorter duration to remission (P<0.001), less steroid and biological agent use (P=0.022) when compared to incomplete restriction or factor unknown group. Conclusions: Restriction of dairy diet first then searching and restricting trigger factors personally if UC relapse can improve the disease control and downgrade the medication usage of UC patients in daily clinical practice.

Today’s automobile is featuring a large number of Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This will increase the system complexity, which will consequently increase the difficulties of programming design and safety and the software cost. Therefore, it is important to provide a reliable, real-time, effective and eventually a low-cost software development tool in the automotive industrial market. ERIKA Enterprise provides an open source for multi-processor real-time operating system kernel, implementing a collection of application programming interfaces similar to those of OSEK/VDX standard for automotive embedded controllers. In this paper, we research the automotive software framework for ERIKA Enterprise, and through the conducting of ERIKA software, the real time operating system for OSEK can be ported (embedded) into target ECU hardware in easily. Finally, we propose a demonstrative application for enhanced CAN (ECAN) bus network connection to show how real-time transmission of data frames through ECAN bus network connection is guaranteed by ERIKA Enterprise.

Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in the laying stage which is a critical period for chick survival. We investigated the relationship of neonatal chick performance, brain antioxidant status and vitamin E supplementation level in hens. Starting at 17 weeks, hens were randomly divided into five groups. The control group received a basal diet without supplemental vitamin E (VE, dl-${\alpha}$-tocopherol acetate). Other groups received the same basal diet supplemented with vitamin E (40, 80, 120 and 160 mg/kg) through growth to egg production. Hens were artificially inseminated at 28 weeks of age and egg yolks were collected at day two. All remaining eggs were hatched. Yolk vitamin E content, hatchability and fertility of eggs were evaluated. Brains of the newly hatched chicks were further evaluated for their oxidative stress status, antioxidative status and vitamin E levels. Increased reproductive performance was observed in fertility and hatchability in the group supplemented at 40 mg/kg. Egg yolk and neonatal brain ${\alpha}$-tocopherol was highest in eggs from hens fed 120 mg/kg and 80 mg/kg supplemental vitamin E, respectively. Brain MDA, ROS and iron levels were significantly higher in unsupplemented hens (p<0.01). SOD activity was significantly higher in the group supplemented at 160 mg/kg than in all other groups. We concluded that maternal supplementation of vitamin E had beneficial effects on fertility, hatchability of eggs, neonatal brain oxidative status and SOD activity.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Treatment with 5α‐reductase inhibitors has been associated with sexual adverse events such as impotence (erectile dysfunction) and decreased libido. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate adverse events related to sexual function, based on their frequency, duration, persistence and associated treatment discontinuations, in men treated with dutasteride for androgenetic alopecia. Participants were randomized to receive double‐blind dutasteride 0.5 mg or placebo once daily for 24 weeks, followed by open‐label dutasteride 0.5 mg for an additional 24 weeks. Sexual adverse events were followed up until resolution or for up to 24 weeks after the last dose. Overall, 117 men, 23–50 years of age, were randomized. The incidence of sexual adverse events was approximately twofold higher in the dutasteride group (16%) than the placebo group (8%) during the double‐blind period; the overall incidence of sexual adverse events was lower (5%) during the open‐label period. All adverse events were mild to moderate in severity and considered treatment‐related. The adverse events resolved while on study treatment or after the end of treatment and did not lead to treatment discontinuation. A limitation of this study was the small sample size. The sexual adverse events of impotence, decreased libido and ejaculation disorders reported in this study were expected and reversible.</P>

Postmortem Proteolysis of Breast and Leg Muscles from Taiwan Colored Chickens and Silkie Bantams

Postmortem proteolysis of breast (BM) and leg (LM) muscles from Taiwan colored chickens (TCC) and silkie bantams (SB) at $5^{\circ}C$ were compared. Myofibrils were prepared from BM and LM samples that were randomly taken from the carcasses of SB and TCC after 0, 1, 3, 7 and 14 days of storage at $5^{\circ}C$. pH of samples was determined, and degradation of myofibrillar proteins was analyzed by the SDS-PAGE and western blots. The results showed that pH was lower in BM than in LM samples from both avian strains. Appearance of 30 kDa components and disappearance of titin and nebulin were more rapidly as seen on SDS-PAGE in BM than in LM samples. Western blots labeled with a monoclonal antibody to desmin also demonstrated that desmin degraded more quickly in BM samples. Our data might suggest that postmortem proteolysis occurred more rapidly in BM than in LM from both TCC and SB.
