Characteristics of n-Type SB-MOSFETs Manufactured by Using a Metal-Gate & a High-K Dielectric

We demonstrated n-type Schottky-barrier metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (SB-MOSFETs) by using a low-temperature oxide dummy gate process to effectively form a high-k metal-gate structure. First, a MOS capacitor made a 5-nm-thick high-K dielectric with a tungsten electrode was fabricated. The equivalent oxide thickness and the flat-band voltage extracted by using a quantum-mechanical capacitance-voltage analysis were 1.69 nm and --0.15 V, respectively. A 2 $\mu$m-gate-length n-type SB-MOSFETs with a source and a drain of erbium silicide showed a high on/off-current ratio of about 10$^5$ at a drain voltage of 1 V. The subthreshold swing and the saturation current were 81 mV/dec and 100 $\mu$A/$\mu$m, respectively.

The environmental control systems used in educational facilities are diverse and obsolete. To provide safety for students and a pleasant learning environment, various systems are installed in learning spaces. In this study, on-site statistical surveys and energy consumption analyses were conducted in ten educational facilities in South Korea. Through awareness surveys of the persons in charge of education facilities, the energy conservation requirements were investigated. The system configuration was generalized according to the energy source, and through this, it was possible to determine the type of system used.

The predictive models have been proposed for managing building energy usage targets. In this study, we conducted an accuracy analysis of the energy consumption prediction model of educational facilities. We compared the primary energy consumption data of educational facilities with the results of the forecast model. The model based energy usage result showed 2~5 % forecast accuracy in the low level unit area of education facilities.
Serological studies on murine typhus in field workers of national forest

Background: Rickettsia species are gram negative, strictly intracellular bacilli that multiply within the cytosol endothelial cells. Rickttsia typhi, a typhus group rickettsia, is the etiologic agent of murine or endemic typhus. R. typhi is transmitted to human primarily by the rat flea, Xenopsylla cheopis, although lice and mites are also potential vectors. In Korea, about 50 cases of this disease has been reported since the first case reported in the 1950s. This surveillance study was conducted to obtain basic data of murine typhus for prevention and control in high-risk population. Materials and Methods: This study included field workers (Yeongrim-dan) in national forest considered as a high-risk population of scrub typhus. The eligible participants were 715 (43.9%) out of 1,629 forestry workers. The sera were collected and then the antibodies specific to R. typhi Wilmington causing murine typhus were titrated using indirect immunofluorescence antibody assay (IFA). As a reference for seroprevalence, 1:256 in IgG or 1:16 in IgM was considered as a single cut-off titer. Results: The seroprevalence showing higher titration than the single cut-off and seroreactivity showing any titration to the single cut-off were 12.4% (89/715) and 26.5% (190/715), respectively. However, the gene for the 16s rRNA of Rickettsia spp. was not detected in any seroprevalence-positive samples. Conclusion: This is the first serological study of murine typhus among forestry workers considered as high-risk population. The high exposure to R. typhi amongst forestry workers suggests that flea-borne spotted fever is an important cause of undifferentiated fever conditions that may not be adequately recognized in Korea. Therefore, continuous surveillance needs to understand the status and to improve the control and prevention of these diseases in high-risk population.

본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11a/b 주파수 대역인 2.400∼2.483 ㎓와 5.725∼5.825 ㎓ 대역에서 유사한 복사 패턴을 가지며 동작하는 위성 인터넷을 위한 두 개의 Y-슬롯이 있는 이중 대역 마이크로스트립 안테나를 제안한다. 제안한 안테나의 크기는 50×47.5×6.5 ㎣이고, 동축 케이블을 이용하여 급전하였으며, 안테나 패치는 두께가 0.508 ㎜이고 비유전율이 3.38인 RO4003 기판 위에 설계하였다. 제작된 안테나의 측정 결과, VSWR<2를 기준으로 2.398~2.507 ㎓와 5.458~5.972 ㎓의 대역폭을 가지며, 안테나의 최대 이득은 각각 8.92 ㏈i, 7.74 ㏈i 이다. The proposed antenna has two Y-shaped slots on the microstrip patch that is fabricated on RO4003 substrate with a dielectric constant of 3.38 and a thickness of 0.508 ㎜, and operates in the 2 ㎓ and 5 ㎓ bands. The size of the antenna is 50×47.5×6.5 ㎣, and fed by coaxial cable. The measured bandwidths of the antenna are 2.398~2.507 ㎓ and 5.458~5.972 ㎓ for VSWR<2. The measured gains are 8.92 ㏈i and 7.74 ㏈i, respectively, for the lower and upper bands.
Dual ISM-band gap-filler microstrip antenna with two Y-shaped slots for satellite internet service

<P>This article describes a dual-band gap-filler microstrip antenna with nearly equal gain and similar radiation patterns in the 2.4-GHz and 5.8- GHz ISM satellite Internet service bands.The proposed antenna has two Y-shaped slots on the microstrip patch and is fabricated on an RO4003 substrate with a dielectric constant of 3.38 and a thickness of 0.508 mm. The dimensions of the antenna are 50 mm × 47.5 mm × 6.5 mm, and it is fed by a coaxial cable. The measured bandwidths of the antenna are 2.376–2.492 GHz and 5.425–6.055 GHz for a voltage standing wave ratio of less than 2. At 2.42 GHz, the antenna has a broadside radiation pattern with a half-power beamwidth (HPBW) of 70° in the x-z plane and 80° in the y-z plane. At 5.75 GHz, it has a HPBW of 65° in the x-z plane and 75° in the y-z plane. The measured gain is 8.37 dB in the 2.4-GHz ISM band and 8.38 dB in the 5.8 GHz ISM band. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
