        Effect of structural phase transformations under pressure on electronic and optical properties of CuInS2

        First-principles plane-wave calculations were employed to study the phase transitions, electronic and optical properties of chalcopyrite CuInS2 (CIS) under pressure, which is a promising semiconductor compound material for nonlinear optical, photovoltaic and bio-applications. From the variations of Gibbs free energy and volume with pressure, we confirmed an experimentally found phase transformation of CIS from tetragonal I42d structure into the cubic Fm3m phase. It occurs at 7.9 GPa with a volume reduction of 15.6%, which are comparable with the experimental values of 9.5 GPa and 12%. A new possible phase transition of CIS from the cubic Fm3m structure to the orthorhombic Cmcm structure under higher pressure was predicted occurring at 49.6 GPa with a volume reduction about 0.64%. Using the more accurate HSE06 functional, we found that the growth rate of energy gap with pressure (dEg/dP) for the I42d phase is about 24.8 meV/GPa, very close to the experimental value of 24 meV/GPa. The calculated electronic properties for Fm3m and Cmcm phases show that CIS is a metallic material under high pressure, rather than a semiconductor. The optical absorption spectra indicate that with the increase of pressure the absorption edge of CIS becomes smaller while the optical energy gap is larger.

        Facile and highly effective synthesis of nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots as a fluorescent sensing probe for Cu2+ detection

        Nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) with high blue fluorescence efficiency were synthesized by the hydrothermal method from p-Phenylenediamine and p-Coumaric acid. The N-GQDs possess several superiorities, most significantly in excellent solubility and superior photostability. Besides, the as-prepared N-GQDs exhibit a uniform size distribution with a diameter of about 3.8 ± 0.5 nm. After dispersing the N-GQDs in water, the formed aqueous solution still presents a stable and homogeneous phase even after 2 months at room temperature. The N-GQD dispersion was further utilized as sensing probes for the selective detection of copper ions (Cu2+), which is realized by the photoluminescence (PL) quenching of N-GQDs after adding Cu2+. The detection limit for Cu2+ was found to be 57 nM L−1, with superior selectivity in the presence of other commonly interfering metal ions. The presented results in this study provide a facile and high-efficiency method for synthesizing N-GQDs, with ultra-high detectivity and selectivity for Cu2+ detection, offering numerous opportunities for the development of biosensing, bioimaging, environment monitoring, and others.

        In ancient China, interpreting the classics is the main method to develop Chinese Philosophy. By returning to and interpreting the classics, thinkers in different age infuse new factors into them according to the need of the age. Therefore the classics remain open to the future. Meanwhile, Trough the interpretation of the classics, the personal thought of the thinkers also develops. By taking Liu Zouzhou’s thought about the vigilance in solitude in the Doctrine of Mean as a case ,this article systematically expounds that how he develops his theory of the vigilance in solitude by interpreting the Doctrine of the Mean and thus reveals how the classics and their interpretation interact in ancient China.

        Steel Bridge Construction of Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge

        The 55-km-long Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) is the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge, connecting Hong Kong with Zhuhai and Macao at the mouth of the Pearl River Estuary in China, comprising 22.9-km-long steel bridges. HZMB is the leading steel bridge in China, with top-level manufacturing and installation technology. This paper outlines the steel bridge construction experiences of HZMB to provide comparisons for the construction of other long sea-crossing steel bridges at home or abroad. The main considerations of construction constraints, scheme selection, structural and aesthetic design of HZMB are presented, and the following points related to new strategies in the steel bridge construction of HZMB are elaborated: (1) construction quality assurance, (2) automatic manufacturing technology, (3) large segment off shore installation, (4) eco-friendly paint (content limitation of volatile organic compounds) and new multifunctional inspection gantry, and (5) Guss Mastic Asphalt steel deck pavement system. The successful implementation of those strategies shows that the steel bridge construction of HZMB promotes improvement in the overall construction and management level of the Chinese bridge industry. The advanced experience of HZMB has opened up broad prospects for the design and construction of off shore bridge engineering in China.

        Simultaneous Determination of Mycophenolic Acid and Its Metabolites by HPLC and Pharmacokinetic Studies in Rat Plasma and Bile

        In this study, we determined the pharmacokinetics of mycophenolic acid (MPA) and its metabolites mycophenolic acid glucuronide (MPAG) and acyl glucuronide (AcMPAG) in rat plasma and bile, using a newly developed HPLC method. Protein precipitation and liquid-liquid extraction were employed in sample preparation of plasma and bile, respectively. The HPLC methods included a gradient elution consisting of acetonitrile and phosphate buffer at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min, with UV detection at 254 nm. The HPLC method was found to be sensitive and linear (r^2 ≥ 0.9991, 1.0-128.0 and 0.25-32.0 mg/L for MPA; 1.0-128.0 and 0.5-64.0 mg/L for MPAG; 0.25-32.0 and 1.0-128.0 mg/L for AcMPAG in rat plasma and bile, respectively), precise (both the intra- and inter-day variability were ≤ 6.8%), and accurate (both the intra- and inter-day accuracy were between 92.2% and 105.4%). The average extraction efficiencies for MPA, MPAG and AcMPAG were 85.3%, 100.1%, and 94.7% in plasma, and 88.0%, 67.3%, and 68.3% in bile, respectively. The method was successfully employed for pharmacokinetic studies in plasma and bile after oral administration of mycophenolate mofetil (prodrug of MPA) in rats.

      • Outcomes of Laparoscopic Abdominoperineal Resection in Low Rectal Cancer Using Different Pelvic Drainages

        Background: The aim of this study was to establish the feasibility and efficiency of different pelvic drainage routes after laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection (LAPR) for rectal cancer by assessing short-term outcomes. Materials and Methods: Clinicopathological data of 76 patients undergoing LAPR for very low rectal cancer were reviewed retrospectively between June 2005 and June 2014. Outcomes were evaluated considering short-term results. Results: Of 76 relevant patients at our institution in the period of study, trans-perineal drainage of the pelvic cavity was performed in 17 cases. Compared with the trans-perineal group, the length of hospital stay was shorter in the trans-abdominal group, while the duration of drainage and the infection rates of the perineal wounds between two groups showed no significant differences. Conclusions: The outcomes of this study suggest that trans-abdominal drainage of pelvic cavity is a reliable and feasible procedure, the duration of drainage, infection rates and the healing rates of the perineal wounds being acceptable. Trans-abdominal drainage has a more satisfactory effect after laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection for rectal carcinoma.

        Primary Yolk Sac Tumor Arising in the Pancreas with Hepatic Metastasis: a Case Report

        Extragonadal yolk sac tumor (YST) is a relatively rare entity. We describe here the case of an extragonadal YST that occurred in the pancreas with hepatic metastasis in an adult woman. The contrast enhanced CT images of the abdomen revealed a heterogeneous, solitary mass occupying the pancreatic neck and body with slightly inhomogeneous contrast enhancement. Two lowdensity lesions in the liver were also displayed on the CT images. The patient underwent surgery and the diagnosis of YST was pathologically verified.

        Protective Effect of Magnolol on TBHP-Induced Injury in H460 Cells Partially via a p53 Dependent Mechanism

        The aim is to investigate the effect of Magnolol preserved H460 cells from an oxidative agent tert-butylhydroperoxide (TBHP)-induced cell death. Magnolol augmented cell survival ratio after TBHP challenged. The protective action of this drug was more efficacious than that of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) which is a putative antioxidant. DNA damage, detected by the comet assay, was diminished after treatment of Magnolol. The cells viability decreased after treatment with 0.15 mM TBHP for 24 h, accompanied by inducing apoptotic death of the cells. Cytotoxicity and apoptosis induced by TBHP were significantly inhibited or attenuated after pretreatment with $20\;{\mu}M$ Magnolol. Magnolol contributes to the cells survival through downregulated the p53 phosphorylation and PTEN expression, and upregulated Akt phosphorylation. Taken together, Magnolol was effective against DNA single strand breaks (SSB) formation, cytotoxicity and lipid peroxidation induced by TBHP, and its effects on p53 phosphorlation, PTEN and Akt phosphorylation were due to its antioxidative function, and partially via a p53 dependent mechanism in this protective effects.

        Effect of current stability on surface formation of GMAW-based multi-layer single-pass additive deposition

        During multi-layer single-pass additive manufacture based on gas metal arc welding, the formation of product surface is highly affected by the robot welding process status. The thermal history of the manufacturing process was recorded by a thermocouple, and the arc current was collected by a current sensor to investigate the relationship between arc current stability and manufacture workpiece surface formation. The empirical mode decomposition energy entropy of different Z as , which are related to the current stability and utilization of arc power, were calculated. The 3D geometric dimension information of the workpiece was scanned by a laser vision sensing system. Experimental results show the current signal of the arc can be used to assess process stability, current stability caused the temperature of the basement, and surface formation changed. The energy entropy of arc current increased with the increase of Z as . The unstable arc can take away much of the heat generated by the arc heat source leading to the increase of deposition height and side surface roughness.

        Influence Analysis of Leader Information with Application to Formation Control of Multi-agent Systems

        Considering the problem that does all the information have the same effect on the control performance of multi-agent system, this paper analyzes the influence of leader state on closed loop dynamics of formation theoretically. For the first time, it is proved that the leader information can mask out the effect of others and the closed loop dynamics of formation is equivalent to the leader follower topology if all followers can receive the leader information and others. Based on this new foundation, an estimator for leader state is designed using the sliding mode control theory. This estimator is independent of the dynamical functions of agents and only the minimum eigenvalue of topological matrix is required to ensure the convergence of estimation error even when leader runs dynamically. Several simulations have been conducted to further validate the correctness of this new theoretical foundation and the effectiveness of the estimator based formation control strategy.
