In this article, we described about the preparation and electrochemical properties of a flexible energy storage system based on a plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. The PET treated with UV/ozone was fabricated with multilayer films composed of 30 polyaniline (PANi)/graphene oxide (GO) bilayers using layerby- layer assembly of positively charged PANi and negatively charged GO. The conversion of GO to the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) in the multilayer film was achieved using hydroiodic acid vapor at 100 °C, whereby PANi structure remained nearly unchanged except a little reduction of doping state. Cyclic voltammetry and charge/discharge curves of 30 PANi/RGO bilayers on PET substrate (shorten to PANi- RGO30/PET) exhibited an excellent volumetric capacitance, good cycling stability, and rapid charge/discharge rates despite no use of any metal current collectors. The specific capacitance from charge/discharge curve of the PANi-RGO30/PET electrode was found to be 529 F/cm3 at a current density of 3 A/cm3, which is one of the best values yet achieved among carbon-based materials including conducting polymers. Furthermore, the intrinsic electrical resistance of the PANi-RGO30/PET electrodes varied within 20% range during 200 bending cycles at a fixed bend radius of 2.2 mm, indicating the increase in their flexibility by a factor of 225 compared with the ITO/PET electrode.
Parametric Study on Uplift Capacity of Anchor with Tie in Sand
Ashis Kumar Bera 대한토목학회 2014 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.18 No.4
In the present investigation a series of model tests have been performed to study the effect of different governing parameters viz.,relative density (Dr) of sand, the ratio of embedment depth (H) of anchor to diameter (D) of bell of anchor, number of ties (N), theratio of length of tie (Lg) to diameter of bell of anchor, diameter of bell of anchor and friction ratio (f = ψ/φ) on uplift capacity ofanchor with ties embedded in river sand. From the experiment, it is observed that with increase in H/D ratio the ultimate upliftcapacities of anchor with or without ties increase. With increase in number of tie layers up to 2, the ultimate uplift capacity of anchorwith ties increases. A non linear power model has been developed to predict the ultimate uplift capacity (QRult) of anchor with ties interms of ultimate uplift capacity of anchor without tie (QUR), Dr, H/D ratio, N, Lg/D ratio, and f.

An abnormal composition of the gut microbiota is believed to be associated with the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We utilized terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) analysis to quantify faecal bacterial communities from rats with experimental colitis. Male Sprague Dawley rats (n=10/group) ingested 2% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) or water for up to 7 days. Rats were killed and colonic tissues collected for histological analysis. Damage severity score in the distal colon was significantly greater (P<0.001) following DSS consumption compared to controls. T-RFLP faecal bacterial profiles generated with either MspI or CfoI revealed a significant difference (P<0.001) in community composition between healthy and colitic rats, with bacterial composition in healthy rats more variable than in rats with colitis. Operational taxonomic units (OTU: taxonomically related groups of bacteria)associated with either the healthy or colitic state were identified. OTU (116, 226, 360, and 948; CfoI) and (118 and 188; MspI) were strongly associated with untreated healthy rats, while OTU (94, 98, 174, and 384; CfoI) and (94 and 914; MspI) were predominantly associated with DSS-treated colitic rats. Phylogenetic OTU assignment suggested that Bacteroidales and Lactobacillus sp. were predominantly associated with the colitic and healthy rats, respectively. These results show that faecal bacterial profiling is a rapid, sensitive and non-invasive tool for detecting and identifying changes in gut microbiota associated with colitis. Restoring microbial homeostasis by targeting colitis-associated OTU through specific microbiological interventions could form the basis of novel therapeutic strategies for IBD.
