Nanocrystalline Ni1−xZnxFe2O4 ( 0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8) ferrites have been synthesized by using an oxalic-acid-based precursor method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed the formation of a single-phase spinel structure at very low annealing temperature. The particle size was observed to decrease with increasing Zn content x. The lattice constants was observed to increase with increasing Zn content x due to large ionic radii of the zinc ion when compared to that of the nickel ion. Magnetic measurements at room temperature revealed that the magnetization did not change monotonically with increasing Zn content x. The coercivity and the remanence were observed to decrease with increasing non-magnetic Zn content x. The observed magnetic properties may be due to a reduction in the number of exchange interactions and the nanocrystalline size with increasing Zn content x.

Antidepressant Activity of Quercetin, a Bioflavonoid, in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Mice
Kanwaljit Chopra,Muragundla Anjaneyulu,Indupal Kaur 한국식품영양과학회 2003 Journal of medicinal food Vol.6 No.4
Depression is highly prevalent in diabetics and is associated with poor glucose regulation and increased riskof diabetic complications. Identification and effective treatment of comorbid depression are increasingly being considered es-sential components of clinical care of diabetics. In the present study, the antidepressant activity of quercetin (50 and 100mg/kg, i.p.), a bioflavonoid, was evaluated using the Porsolt forced swimming-induced behavioral despair test in control and6-week-streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. The effect of quercetin was compared with that of the classical antidepressantsfluoxetine (5 mg/kg, i.p.) and imipramine (15 mg/kg, i.p.). Streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice exhibited prolonged immo-bility duration during the test as compared with age-matched control mice. Quercetin dose-dependently reduced the immo-bility period in diabetic mice, and this effect was comparable to that of fluoxetine (5 mg/kg, i.p.) and imipramine (15 mg/kg,i.p.). Fluoxetine and imipramine significantly lowered the immobility time in naive mice also, but quercetin failed to induceany antidepressant activity in naive mice. The results of our preliminary study indicate that quercetin has the potential to beemployed as a therapy for depression associated with diabetes.

The resistive switching mechanism in titanium-dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NP) is studied using the currentvoltage (I–V) measurements. The TiO2 NP are spin-coated on different substrates like FTO, ITO, Gold, and p- Silicon. The I–V measurements are carried out by changing the initial potential of the substrates to either 0 V (sweep1) or 1 V (sweep2). Resistive switching (RS) was observed only for FTO/TiO2 NP and ITO/TiO2NP devices in sweep1 direction. Whereas, in sweep2 direction, no such RS was observed in any of the devices. The detailed I–V analysis infers the Ohmic conduction followed by space charge limited conduction (SCLC) during the RS forming process for FTO/TiO2 NP and ITO/TiO2NP devices. The Au and p-Si substrates act as blocking contact for TiO2 and exhibit Schottky/thermionic emission at lower voltages and SCLC at higher voltages. The TiO2 NP coated on p-Si substrate exhibits rectifying behaviour with a current ratio of 3 orders of magnitude.

An in-house custom made high pressure adsorption/desorption unit has been designed and fabricated to study reversible hydrogen (H2) intake capacity, hysteresis, kinetics, plateau pressure of various nanomaterials, zeolites and metallic compounds, in the pressure range of 1≤P≤150 atm. The unit has been used to estimate H2 intake capacity of carbon nanofibers prepared by flame synthesis in the absence of catalyst. H2 adsorption studies have been carried out in the pressure range of 25–100 atm at 297 K. The maximum H2 intake capacity has been observed to be 3.7 wt% at 100 atm.
Comparisons of Handling Practices of Culled Sheep Meat for Production of Mutton Curry
Mendiratta, S.K.,Kondaiah, N.,Anjaneyulu, A.S.R.,Sharma, B.D. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.5
In most developing countries consumers purchase retail cuts from hot carcasses and prepare traditional meat products as per their convenience and requirements. In this study, effects of different post mortem handling practices on quality of meat curry from culled sheep meat have been studied. After slaughter, leg cuts were subjected to nine commonly prevalent handling conditions in India viz. deboning (boning out) and cooking within 2-3 h (1), deboning immediately and cooking after 5-6 h (2), deboning after 5-6 h and cooking (3), deboning immediately, storage at $4^{\circ}C$ for 24 h and cooking (4), chilling for 24 h at $4^{\circ}C$, deboning and cooking (5), deboning after 5-6 h, storage for 24 h at $4^{\circ}C$, and cooking (6), deboning after 5-6 h, storage for 48 h at 4??C and cooking (7), deboning after 5-6 h, freezing and cooking (8), deboning after 5-6 h, storage for 24 h at $4^{\circ}C$, freezing and cooking (9). Significant differences were observed in pH, water-holding capacity, cooking loss and shear force values. Sensory scores were significantly higher in conditions (1), (5) and (9), and significantly lower in conditions (4) and (6). From the results, it was concluded that, to have the best quality product, meat should be cooked either immediately after slaughter or should be deboned just before cooking. Storage of deboned meat at refrigerated temperature must be avoided.
Effect of Gd Doping on the Structural and Magnetic Properties of Ni-Cu-Zn-Fe$_2$O$_4$
P. Venkata Srinivasa Rao,T. Anjaneyulu,M. Rami Reddy 한국물리학회 2019 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.75 No.4
Ni$_{0.5}$Cu$_{0.25}$Zn$_{0.25}$Gd$_x$Fe$_{2-x}$O$_4$ ($x$ = 0.0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1) ferrites were synthesized using an oxalic-based precursor method. A single phase Ni-Cu-Zn-Gd ferrite was observed from X-ray diffraction (XRD) data except for higher Gd content. For $x$ = 0.1, a secondary phase due GdFe$_2$O$_3$ was observed. The particle size was observed to decrease and the lattice constant to increase with increasing Gd doping concentration. The IR spectra confirmed the existence of bands corresponding to spinel ferrites. The IR band positions were observed to shift towards higher positions with increasing Gd doping concentration. The saturation magnetization, coercivity and remanence magnetization were observed to increase as a result of Gd doping. The substitution of Gd ions in the place of Fe ions resulted in changes in the structural and magnetic properties due to replacement of smaller ionic radii Fe ions by larger ionic radii Gd ions.

The thin films of electropolymerized poly(3-hexylthiophene) [e-P3HT] are simultaneously doped on the transparent indium tin oxide substrate via anodic oxidation. Distinctive doping levels are achieved by systematically de-doping the films in a reverse bias electrochemical process. Raman characterization shows the presence of doping-induced polarons. In the UV–Vis spectrum, two distinct absorption regions are found for P3HT suggesting the presence of doping-induced polarons and the Urbach calculations reveal a fine-tuning of bandgap with doping level. Further, the PL studies show exponential quenching in intensity due to charge transfer which can be precisely tuned by the doping level in the e-P3HT. The current-voltage measurements under the illumination of a 532 nm laser on a sandwich device with top contact of silver are also performed and it is found that an optimized doping level is essential to acquire the best photo response. Impedance spectroscopy on the devices and their equivalent circuit analysis reveals that in addition to the bulk system, doping can also vastly modify the interfacial properties. Our studies pave the direction to tailor and optimize different optoelectronic and interface-related properties of e-P3HT thin films via electrochemical doping for optimized optoelectronic devices and applied physics studies.
