Objectives Data on the clinical manifestations and pregnancy outcomes of pregnant women with COVID-19 are limited, particularly in developing countries. The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical manifestations and pregnancy outcomes in COVID-19 maternal cases in a large referral hospital in Indonesia. Methods This study used a prospective cohort design and included all pregnant women with suspected COVID-19. Subjects were divided into COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 groups based on the results of real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Clinical characteristics, laboratory results, and pregnancy outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results Of the 141 suspected maternal cases, 62 cases were COVID-19-confirmed (43.9%), while 79 suspected cases were negative (56.1%). The clinical manifestations and laboratory findings between the two groups were not significantly different (P>0.05). However, the maternal mortality directly caused by COVID-19 was significantly higher than that in the non-COVID-19 group (8.3% vs. 1.3%; P=0.044; odd ratio, 6.91; 95% confidence interval, 0.79-60.81). Conclusion The clinical manifestations and laboratory results of suspected pregnant women with positive and negative RT-PCR COVID-19 results were similar. However, within the Indonesian setting, COVID-19 significantly increases the risk of maternal death through both direct and indirect factors.

Cadmium (Cd) is a water-soluble heavy metal. It has adverse effects on rivers and underground water in developing countries. Rice is a hydrophilic crop grown by extensive utilization of water. Presence of Cd in paddy water can lead to destruction of both quality and quantity of rice. To access the variation in impact of Cd on two elite rice cultivars of Pakistan i.e., indica (Super Basmati) and japonica (JP-5), a pot experiment with three replicates was carried out in completely randomized design. To induce stress conditions, both cultivars were subjected to elevated levels of Cd (50 mg/kg) as cadmium chloride. The results indicated that Cd stress had a high impact on morpho-physiological traits such as grain yield, thousand grain weight and tiller number in Supper Basmati compared to JP-5. This was due to high accumulation of the reactive oxygen species and lower levels of enzymatic antioxidants including peroxidase, catalase, carotenoids, glutathione, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione peroxidase, and phenols in Super basmati. The Cd translocation from roots to leaf and subsequently grains was higher in Super Basmati compared to JP-5. Nutritional profiling of grains showed low level of carbohydrates and proteins in Super Basmati compared to JP-5 which shows that JP-5 is more tolerant, nutritious, and high-yielding under Cd-stress conditions. JP-5 is thus recommended to be cultivated in Cd-stressed areas in future and breeders can further use it to improve crop performance in Cd-stress soil and ensure sustainable food production around the world

FCC assembly of non-Brownian SiO₂ microspheres for 3D phononic crystal is realized using the combination of vertical and horizontal ultrasonic agitation guided by a hexagonal-shaped channel and hydrogel-SiO₂ composite is formed based on the assembled microspheres. Experiments proved the existence of the bandgap in the phononic crystal, and its bandgap shift according to the pH change. Within a certain range, as the pH increases, the bandgap center frequency decreases.

It is becoming progressively more understandable that different phytochemicals isolated from edible plants interfere with specific stages of carcinogenesis. Cancer cells have evolved hallmark mechanisms to escape from death. Concordant with this approach, there is a disruption of spatiotemproal behaviour of signaling cascades in cancer cells, which can escape from apoptosis because of downregulation of tumor suppressor genes and over-expression of oncogenes. Genomic instability, intra-tumor heterogeneity, cellular plasticity and metastasizing potential of cancer cells all are related to molecular alterations. Data obtained through in vitro studies has convincingly revealed that curcumin, EGCG, resveratrol and quercetin are promising anticancer agents. Their efficacy has been tested in tumor xenografted mice and considerable experimental findings have stimulated researchers to further improve the bioavailability of these nutraceuticals. We partition this review into different sections with emphasis on how bioavailability of curcumin, EGCG, resveratrol and quercetin has improved using different nanotechnology approaches.
An Automated Object Retrieval System for Warehouses

The transport of objects in a warehouse is an indispensible but time consuming task, and is therefore the focus of extensive research. This paper presents a system that autonomously retrieves boxes placed in shelves according to the part number fed in the system by the user. The system utilizes a modified implementation of the A<SUP>*</SUP> algorithm to determine the shortest path for retrieving the objects. A maximum of three objects can be retrieved in one round by the robot. After retrieval, the objects are delivered to a delivery station. Line tracking sensors are used for robot navigation. Telescoping arms mounted on the robot are used to retrieve objects from the shelves. The guidance algorithm and Graphic User Interface (GUI) have been implemented using MATLAB® and the robot has been designed using SolidWorks®.

The use of herbal products and/or their derivatives as an alternative or complementary medicine becomes globally popular. To date, various biological activities have been reported in Morinda citrifolia Linn, especially antioxidants, antimicrobial, anti-infammatory and antitumor efects. This study aimed to investigate the genotoxicity and DNA repair capacity of the aqueous fruit extract of M. citrifolia (AEMC). Additionally, we checked the mutagenic capacity of AEMC by the comet assay and micronucleus tests in rats. For this, rats (n=10; 5 males and 5 females) were divided into fve groups as: negative control (distilled water); positive control (25 mg/kg of cyclophosphamide, i.p.); and three groups for AEMC (2.5, 5 and 10 mg/kg, i.p.). The results suggest that, the AEMC induced genotoxicity in white blood cells, but a DNA repair capacity was also observed after 72 h of AEMC exposure. AEMC also showed cytotoxicity and mutagenicity in liver and kidney cells of rats at 5 and 10 mg/kg doses. In conclusion, AEMC exhibited a dose-dependent cytotoxicity, genotoxicity and mutagenicity along with a time-dependent DNA repair capacity in rats. Further studies are necessary regarding the safe use of this medicinal plant for human consumption.
