        Context-based Web Application Design

        웹 기능의 향상과 웹 관련 기술의 발전, 레거시 시스템과의 통합 필요성 증대, 자주 변하는 웹 콘텐츠와 구조 등으로 인하여 웹 애플리케이션을 개발하고 관리하는 일이 과거보다 훨씬 더 복잡하게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 다양한 요인들을 고려하는 포괄적인 웹 애플리케이션 설계 방법론은 아직 존재하지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 요인들을 고려한 컨텍스트 기반의 웹 애플리케이션 설계 방법론을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구에서 제시하는 방법론에서는 웹 정보를 전달하는 메커니즘에 따라 구분되는 9 종류의 웹 페이지 형태와 웹 페이지 간의 다양한 의미 관계를 정의하는 7 종류의 링크 형태 및 설계 과정 중에 사용되는 여러 종류의 컴포넌트 역할을 구별하는 소프트웨어 컴포넌트 형태 등 다양한 종류의 모델링 기법들을 소개하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 이 방법론은 ‘콤펜디엄(compendium)’이라 불리는 일단의 관련된 정보 클러스터들로 이루어진 독창적인 웹 애플리케이션 모델을 사용하고 있다. 하나의 콤펜디엄은 주제(theme), 컨텍스트 페이지, 링크 및 컴포넌트로 구성된다. 이러한 접근방법은 모듈 방식의 설계에 유용할 뿐만 아니라 항상 변하는 웹 애플리케이션의 콘텐츠와 구조를 관리하는데도 도움이 된다. 본 연구에서 제시한 방법론은 의미적으로 응집력이 있고 구문적으로 느슨히 결합된 유연한 웹 디자인 산출물을 생성하는데 도움이 될 것이다. Developing and managing Web applications are more complex than ever because of their growing functionalities, advancing Web technologies, increasing demands for integration with legacy applications, and changing content and structure. All these factors call for a more inclusive and comprehensive Web application design method. In response, we propose a context-based Web application design methodology that is based on several classification schemes including a Webpage classification, which is useful for identifying the information delivery mechanism and its relevant Web technology; a link classification, which reflects the semantics of various associations between pages; and a software component classification, which is helpful for pinpointing the roles of various components in the course of design. The proposed methodology also incorporates a unique Web application model comprised of a set of information clusters called compendia, each of which consists of a theme, its contextual pages, links, and components. This view is useful for modular design as well as for management of ever-changing content and structure of a Web application. The proposed methodology brings together all the three classification schemes and the Web application model to arrive at a set of both semantically cohesive and syntactically loose-coupled design artifacts.

      • Voice Activity Detection in Noisy Environments Based on Double-Combined Fourier Transform and Line Fitting

        <P>A new voice activity detector for noisy environments is proposed. In conventional algorithms, the endpoint of speech is found by applying an edge detection filter that finds the abrupt changing point in a feature domain. However, since the frame energy feature is unstable in noisy environments, it is difficult to accurately find the endpoint of speech. Therefore, a novel feature extraction algorithm based on the double-combined Fourier transform and envelope line fitting is proposed. It is combined with an edge detection filter for effective detection of endpoints. Effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is evaluated and compared to other VAD algorithms using two different databases, which are AURORA 2.0 database and SITEC database. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs well under a variety of noisy conditions.</P>

        Characterization of Melanin-TiO2 Complexes Using FT-IR and 13C Solid-state NMR Spectroscopy

        beings. The most common form of biological melanin is a complex polymer of either or both of 5,6- indolequinone and 5,6-dihydroxyindole carboxylic acid. Micronized TiO2 has been also widely used as a representative inorganic pigment for the formulation of the UV-care cosmetic products. We synthesized a number of new organic-inorganic nanohybrid compounds to develop sunscreens having stronger UV protecting synergy effects from the sun for the first time. We characterized novel organic-inorganic nanohybrid compounds by 1H/13C cross-polarization magic angle spinning (CPMAS) solid-state NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy. The complexes A, B, and C, simple mixing of the L-DOPA bearing catechol unit with TiO2 nanoparticle does not show forming covalently bonded organic-inorganic nanohybrid compounds. On the contrary, the complexes D, E, and F show that the line shape changes and chemical shifts of phenoxy carbons of catechol move downfield upon forming the catecholate with Ti (IV). Relationship between the composition of organic-inorganic hybrid and SPF improvements will be studied more in detail in the near future.         Effect of wind and buoyancy interaction on single-sided ventilation in a building

        <P>In this study, we performed numerical simulations of three-dimensional turbulent flows over an isolated building with a door-type opening by using a CFD model in order to investigate the combined effect of wind and buoyancy on windward single-sided ventilation. Positive and negative temperature differences between the inside and outside of the building were considered. The Archimedes number (Ar) was introduced as an index for evaluating the interaction between buoyancy and wind effects. The interaction between the two opposing forces under a positive temperature difference was found to be destructive, resulting in the combined effect reducing the volume flow rate. Furthermore, the wind effect was found to be dominant for Ar-0.5 < 0.45, with the buoyancy effect beginning to increase at Ar-0.5 = 0.2, and tending to be dominant for Ar-0.5 > 0.45. The two effects were found to be fairly comparable at Ar-0.5 = 0.45. The interaction between the two assisted forces under a negative temperature difference was always constructive, resulting in the combined effect reinforcing the ventilation for all the Archimedes numbers.</P>

      • A Study on the Identification of Non-Linear Roll Damping Characteristic : Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat

        The purpose of this paper is to identify the nonlinear roll damping characteristics of the Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat (RIB). Using the measured motion response data of the rolling system, an inverse problem (suggested by Jang et al. (2009)) is formulated for the identification of the nonlinear roll damping. The results of the herein paper are presented by comparing the exact experimental data from the free-roll decay test with the simulated one by the inverse problem approach.

        Semantic Search : A Survey

        시맨틱 웹(Semantic Web)의 비전에 대한 공표가 이루어진 이래로 이와 관련한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 지금까지의 연구가 성공적이었다는 판단을 하기에는 아직 이르다. 본 논문은 시맨틱 관련 연구분야의 두 가지 문제점을 진단한다. 첫째는 '시맨틱 검색'이라는 개념의 합의된 정의가 없다는 것이고, 둘째는 장래의 유관 연구를 바라볼 수 있는 종합적이고 체계적인 시각이 부족하다는 것이다. 이러한 진단 아래, 본 논문은 시맨틱 검색의 개념을 '사용자의 입력에 따라 온톨로지와 같은 시맨틱 기술을 이용하여 원하는 정보를 얻는 행위'로 정의한다. 또한 시맨틱 검색에 대한 이해를 돕기 위해 시맨틱 검색 엔진 분류 프레임워크를 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 프레임워크는 (쿼리) 입력문의 처리, 타겟 소스, 검색 방법론, 검색결과의 서열화, 출력 결과물의 데이터 종류, 이렇게 다섯 가지 부분으로 나뉜다. 마지막으로 본 논문은 제시한 프레임워크를 응용하여 기존의 연구결과물을 분석하고 앞으로의 연구 방향을 논하는 것으로 끝을 맺는다. Since the ambitious declaration of the vision of the Semantic Web, a growing number of studies on semantic search have recently been made. However, we recognize that our community has not so much accomplished despite those efforts. We analyze two underlying problems : a lack of a shared notion of semantic search that guides current research, and a lack of a comprehensive view that envisions future work. Based on this diagnosis, we start by defining semantic search as the process of retrieving desired information in response to user's input using semantic technologies such as ontologies. Then, we propose a classification framework in order for the community to obtain the better understanding of semantic search. The proposed classification framework consists of input processing, target source, search methodology, results ranking, and output data type. Last, we apply our proposed framework to prior studies and suggest future research directions.
