<P>We present the design, fabrication, and measurement results of an electromagnetic biaxial microscanner with mechanical amplification mechanism. A gimbaled scanner with two distinct single-crystal silicon layer thicknesses and integrated copper coils has been fabricated with combination of surface and bulk micromachining processes. A magnet assembly consisting of an array of permanent magnets and a pole piece has been placed under the substrate to provide high strength lateral magnetic field oriented 45° to two perpendicular scanning axes. Micromirror has been supported by additional gimbal to implement a mechanical amplification. A 1.2mm-diameter mirror with aluminum reflective surface has been actuated at 60Hz for vertical scan and at 21kHz for horizontal scan. Maximum scan angle of 36.12° at 21.19kHz and 17.62° at 60Hz have been obtained for horizontal and vertical scans, respectively.</P>

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two torasemide tablets, Torem tablet (Roche Korea Co., Ltd., Korea, reference drug) and Boryung Torsemide tablet (Boryung Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Korea, test drug), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). After adding an internal standard (furosemide) to human serum, serum samples were extracted using 5 mL of ethyl acetate. Compounds were analyzed by reverse-phase HPLC method with UV detection. This method showed linear response over the concentration range of 0.05 ug/mL with correlation coefficient of 0.999. The lower limit of quantitation using 0.5 mL of serum was 0.05 ug/mL which was sensitive enough for pharmacokinetic studies. Twenty-eight healthy male Korean volunteers received each medicine at the torasemide dose of 20 mg in a $2{\times}2$ crossover study. There was a one-week washout period between the doses. Serum concentrations of torasemide were monitored by an HPLC-UV for over a period of 12 hr after the administration. $AUC_{t}$(the area under the serum concentration-time curve from time zero to 12 hr) was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule method. $C_{max}$ (maximum serum drug concentration) and $T_{max}$ (time to reach $C_{max}$) were compiled from the serum concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed $AUC_{t}$ and $C_{max}$. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bioavailability parameters indicating that the crossover design was properly performed. The 90% confidence intervals of the $AUC_{t}$ ratio and the $C_{max}$ ratio for Boryung Torsemide/Torem were log 0.97-10g 1.03 and log 0.93log 1.12, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals of log 0.80-log 1.25. Thus, the criteria of the KFDA guidelines for the bioequivalence was satisfied, indicating Boryung Torsemide tablet and Torem tablet are bioequivalent.
Proteomic analysis of pathogenic bacterium Vibrio vulnificus

<P>In this study we have constructed a proteome reference map of the pathogenic bacterium Vibrio vulnificus. From the reference map, we identified several virulence-related proteins, such as ToxR and ToxS, as well as numerous proteins involved in diverse cellular functions. To search for additional virulence-related proteins, we compared the whole proteomes from the wild-type and toxR mutant of V. vulnificus and found that several proteins were up- or down-regulated in the toxR mutant. We suggest that these differentially regulated proteins whose expression is coordinately controlled by a virulence regulator ToxR, some of which are already implicated in virulence, play roles in the pathogenesis of V. vulnificus.</P>
식기세척기 내부 유동 분포 분석을 위한 유동가시화 기법 개발

A flow visualization technique was developed to analyze flow distribution inside a dishwasher in this study. Then, a new design plan was proposed to improve the efficiency of the dishwasher by the analyzed results and it was confirmed experimentally by the developed technique. Gas flow fields inside a drying duct of a tub for a drying process was investigated by a developed PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) and a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method. Also, the flow visualization technique was developed for the liquid flow field of a rotor-arm system to propose the improved design idea. Also, interactions between liquid and gas were observed around the rotor-arm system. The two-phase flow was modified to the liquid flow field because laser sheets are refracted when pass through the two-phase flow. Thus, the flow visualization techniques was developed in this study to measure the instantaneous flow velocities in the liquid quantitatively.

As the usage of biologics for rheumatic diseases increases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, various cutaneous adverse events are also being increasingly reported. We experienced a case of development of vitiligo during a TNF-α antagonist therapy in a 22-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis. The patient was presented with vitiligo lesions on the dorsum of both hands after 1 month of treatment with etanercept. Vitiligo improved with topical tacrolimus ointment and excimer laser treatment without the discontinuation of etanercept. No clearly defined mechanism for vitiligo induced by TNF-α antagonist exits. However, considering that vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder, the development of this skin lesion in association with the TNF-α antagonist could be explained by a paradoxical induction of the autoimmune process.
