        니켈이 코팅된 FBG 센서의 잔류 변형률 특성

        금속이 코팅된 FBG(fiber Bragg grating) 센서는 구조물이 과거에 겪은 최대 변형률을 기억하는 기억효과(memory effect)를 가진다. 본 연구에서는 무전해 도금법과 전해 도금법을 이용하여 약 43μm의 두께를 가지는 니켈(nickel)이 코팅된 FBG 센서를 제작하였다. 니켈 코팅된 FBG 센서의 잔류 변형률 생성성능, 즉, 기억효과를 검증하기 위해 반복하중 실험(잔류 변형률 생성실험)을 수행하였다. 인가한 최대 변형률의 크기가 증가함에 따라 잔류 변형률이 증가함을 확인함으로써 기억효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구에서 수행한 니켈이 코팅된 FBG 센서의 제작 기법과 센서에 대한 반복하중 실험결과는 향후 광섬유 센서를 이용한 구조물 건전성 감시(SHM, structural health monitoring)기법 개발에 기본 데이터로서 활용될 것이다. A metal-coated FBG (fiber Bragg grating) sensor has a memory effect, which can recall the maximum strains experienced by the structure. In this study, a nickel-coated FBG sensor was fabricated through electroless (i.e., chemical plating) and electroplating. A thickness of approximately 43 μm of a nickel layer was achieved. Then, we conducted cyclic loading tests for the fabricated nickel-coated FBG sensors to verify their capability to produce residual strains. The results revealed that the residual strain induced by the nickel coating linearly increased with an increase in the maximum strain experienced by the sensor. Therefore, we verified that a nickel-coated FBG sensor has a memory effect. The fabrication methods and the results of the cycle loading test will provide basic information and guidelines in the design of a nickel-coated FBG sensor when it is applied in the development of structural health monitoring techniques.

        A Multianalytical Approach for Determining the Geographical Origin of Ginseng Using Strontium Isotopes, Multielements, and <sup>1</sup>H NMR Analysis

        <P>Asian ginseng (<I>Panax ginseng</I> C.A. Meyer) is widely used as an Oriental medicine in the East Asian regions, particularly Korea and China. In the study, the strontium isotope ratios (<SUP>87</SUP>Sr/<SUP>86</SUP>Sr), multielements, and metabolite profiles of 35 ginseng samples collected from Korea and China were examined in an attempt to develop a method to distinguish the origin of ginsengs from the two countries. A multivariate statistical approach was performed to analyze the multielements and the <SUP>1</SUP>H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data. Results of a <I>t</I>-test for Mg, Fe, Al, and Sc showed significant variation between Korean and Chinese ginsengs, indicating potential tracers for discriminating them. Discriminating between the ginsengs from the two countries was generally successful when both the <SUP>87</SUP>Sr/<SUP>86</SUP>Sr ratios and rare earth element (REE) contents were used together. Moreover, principal component analysis (PCA) derived from the <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR data revealed a significant separation between the ginsengs originating from the two countries. The major metabolites responsible for differentiation were sugars such as glucose, xylose, and sucrose.         Obesity is a chronic disorder that is a significant risk factor for diabetes, malignancy, and other chronic diseases. Obesity treatment methods include lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise. However, it is not easy to change the lifestyle, so drug treatment and surgery are selected. In particular, drug treatment has been constantly developed to date, but the effect of the drug is insufficient or side effects are caused by long-term use. Therefore, we need to focus on the development of anti-obesity drugs based on natural food materials. As such, we propose that natural food materials for safe and effective obesity treatment should be discovered and developed. Thus, we evaluated the anti-obesity effect using the sword bean pods(SBP; Canavalia gladiata) that were recently registered as food materials and lack scientific research on various physiological activities. As a result, SBP confirmed the anti-obesity effect by reducing production of obesity major factor. These results suggest that SBP is a material with potential effects on anti-obesity, and it is expected that it can be developed as a functional material for health functional food in the future.

        Silencing of NbCEP1 Encoding a Chloroplast Envelope Protein Containing 15 Leucine-Rich-Repeats Disrupts Chloroplast Biogenesis in Nicotiana benthamiana

        We characterized the physiological functions of Nicotiana benthamiana Chloroplast Envelope Protein 1 (NbCEP1) in Nicotiana benthamiana. NbCEP1 contains a chloroplast transit peptide and a single transmembrane domain at the N terminus, and most of its protein coding region is com-prised of 15 leucine-rich-repeats (LRRs). The NbCEP1 gene is expressed in both aerial and underground plant tissues, and is induced by light. A GFP fusion protein of full length NbCEP1 was targeted to the chloroplast enve-lope and co-localized with OEP7:RFP, a marker protein for the chloroplast envelope. A fusion protein consisting of GFP and the NbCEP1 transit peptide mainly localized in the chloroplast stroma. Reduction of NbCEP1 expression by virus-induced gene silencing resulted in a leaf yellow-ing phenotype without much affecting overall plant growth. At the cellular level, depletion of NbCEP1 severely influ-enced chloroplast development, reducing both the number and size of the chloroplasts. Interestingly, mitochondrial development was also impaired, possibly an indirect effect of chloroplast ablation. A deficiency in NbCEP1 activity decreased the chlorophyll and carotenoid levels. Our re-sults suggest that NbCEP1 plays a critical function, possi-bly through protein-protein interactions mediated by its LRRs, in chloroplast development in N. benthamiana.

        Analysis of Some Online Questions with High Frequency about Dental Treatment in Korea

        Background: The Internet has advantages in terms of accessibility and amount of information, and the search for health information over the Internet is increasing exponentially. The purpose of this study is to analyze the information generated about some dental treatment on the internet by year. Methods: Naver Knowledge (JisikIn in Korean) which is an interactive search service was selected as the first search site in Korea. Scaling, wisdom tooth extraction, and endodontic treatment that can be paid by Korean health insurance were selected. Finally, 4,729 questions about scaling, 23,963 wisdom teeth extraction questions and 17,733 endodontic treatment questions were extracted. The question contents, the information about the questioner and the answerer, and an error of answers were investigated. Frequency analysis was used and chi-square test was used if necessary. Results: The most frequently asked questions were discomfort and dissatisfaction after the treatment. The need for treatment was the second in questions of the wisdom tooth extraction and endodontic treatment, but the health insurance benefit was the second in dental scaling. Most of the questioners didn’t disclose personal information. The public answered the most in 2013∼2014, but the highest percentage of the respondents was experts in 2017. Responses were mostly personal experience, but showed a tendency to decrease with years, and professional knowledge showed an increasing tendency. The error of the answer has also gradually decreased. Conclusion: Questions about dental care over the Internet are increasing exponentially, experts are responding increasingly, and errors in answers are decreasing. Nevertheless, it is necessary to pay attention to the related expert group to prevent misinformation.

      • Leaf Proteome and Metabolome Analysis of Wheat-Rye Translocation Lines

        Wheat-rye translocation lines were developed to produce a main crop resistant to biological and physical stress. 'Chaupon' rye contains 2RL chromatin to harbor resistance genes for powdery mildew and leaf rust. In order to identify chromosome 2RL-derived rye proteins and 2RL-perturbed proteins in wheat-rye translocation lines, the gel-based proteomics was employed with 'Coker797' (non-2RL), 'Hamlet' (2RL) and 'near-isogenic line' (stabilized 2RL). The leaf proteome was resolved on 2D-gel, resulting in 216 spots in a final selection. A total of 90 proteins were identified with the identification success rate of 42%. The identified proteins were classified by functional annotation: metabolism (64%), cellular process (5%), translation (2%), regulatory function (1%) and hypothetical (28%). The proteins belonged to metabolism were subdivided into carbohydrate metabolism (36%), energy metabolism (35%), metabolism of lipid, amino acid, other amino acid and biosynthesis of secondary metabolites (each 6%) and others (5%). A total of 53 proteins were differentially expressed, in which β-glucosidase, in particular, originated from the chromosome 2RL of rye, was exclusively appeared in NIL. In addition, small Ras-related GTP binding-protein assigned to wheat was predominantly found in 2RL rye chromatin-possessing NIL. These results suggest that the acquired genetic traits obtained from rye 2RL enhance the resistance to biotic and abiotic stress in wheat-rye translocation lines by altered the proteome expression. In leaf metabolome analysis, 11 predominant metabolites containing trans-aconitate, glutamate, and betaine were identified by 1H-NMR-based metabolite fingerprinting. The overall metabolites pattern of NIH appears to be closer to Coker797 rather than Hamlet. Thus, the metabolic phenotype of NIL was not so much lineated from Hamlet contrast to proteomic phenotyping.

        Development of an Accident Consequence Assessment Code for Evaluating Site Suitability of Light- and Heavy-water Reactors Based on the Korean Technical Standards

        Background: Methodologies for a series of radiological consequence assessments show a distinctive difference according to the design principles of the original nuclear suppliers and their technical standards to be imposed. This is due to the uncertainties of the accidental source term, radionuclide behavior in the environment, and subsequent radiological dose. Both types of PWR and PHWR are operated in Korea. However, technical standards for evaluating atmospheric dispersion have been enacted based on the U.S. NRC's positions regardless of the reactor types. For this reason, it might cause a controversy between the licensor and licensee of a nuclear power plant. Materials and Methods: It was modelled under the framework of the NRC Regulatory Guide 1.145 for light-water reactors, reflecting the features of heavy-water reactors as specified in the Canadian National Standard and the modelling features in MACCS2, such as atmospheric diffusion coefficient, ground deposition, surface roughness, radioactive plume depletion, and exposure from ground deposition. Results and Discussion: An integrated accident consequence assessment code, ACCESS (Accident Consequence Assessment Code for Evaluating Site Suitability), was developed by taking into account the unique regulatory positions for reactor types under the framework of the current Korean technical standards. Field tracer experiments and hand calculations have been carried out for validation and verification of the models. Conclusion: The modelling approaches of ACCESS and its features are introduced, and its applicative results for a hypothetical accidental scenario are comprehensively discussed. In an applicative study, the predicted results by the light-water reactor assessment model were higher than those by other models in terms of total doses.

        신교통수단 수혜자의 시장분할을 고려한 수단선택 모형 개발

        신교통수단의 도입은 통행 대안 간의 수단분담률에 영향을 미친다. 그러나 수단분담률을 추정하는 데에 일반적으로 사용되는 다항로짓 모형은 통행자 선택의 다양성을 반영하기 어렵기 때문에 수단선택 특성을 정확하게 파악하는 데에 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제는 교통수단의 도입 효과를 과다 또는 과소추정하는 결과를 야기하며, 이는 심각한 사회적 손실을 초래할 수 있다. 본 연구는 선호의 동질성 문제를 극복할 수 있는 방법론을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 전체모집단을 직접수혜자와 간접수혜자로 구분하는 시장분할 구조를 적용하여 선호의 이질성을 반영할 수 있도록 한다. 제주도의 조사 자료를 활용하여 수단 선택 모형이 추정되며, 통계적 검정이 수행된다. 분석 결과, 신교통수단의 통행특성이 고급화됨에 따라 도심부에 거주하는 직접수혜자의 수단 전환율이 증가하는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 수단전환 패턴의 다양성을 반영함으로써 신교통수단 도입시 수요예측의 정확성을 제고하는 데에 기여할 것으로 사료된다. The introduction of a new transit facility affects mode share of travel alternatives. The multinomial logit model, which has been the most commonly used for estimating mode share, has difficulty in reflecting heterogeneity of travelers' choices, and it has a limitation on grasping their characteristics of mode choice. The limitation may lead to over- or under-estimation of the new transit facility and bring about significant social costs. This paper aims to find a methodology to overcome the problem of preference homogeneity. It also applies market segmentation structure of separating the whole population into direct and indirect beneficiary to consider their preference heterogeneity. A mode choice model is estimated on data from Jeju Province and statistically tested. The results show that mode transfer rate of direct beneficiaries that inhabit in downtown areas increases as the new transit facility provides more advanced services with higher costs. The results and the model suggested in this study can contribute to improving the accuracy of demand forecasting of new transit facilities by reflecting heterogeneity of mode-transfer patterns.
