Purpose: This study compared the effects of three oral care methods on thirst and oral status in patients after general anesthesia surgery. Methods: Sixty five surgical patients were prospectively randomized into three groups. Each group received one of three oral care methods: wet water gauze, frozen water gauze, or frozen normal saline gauze. The outcomes of thirst and oral status were assessed three times by trained investigators blinded to the oral care methods. Assessment times were right after a participant’s arrival to his/her room, and at 30 and 60 minutes after the pre-test. Results: The levels of thirst and oral status were significantly improved as time passed in all three oral care methods. While the level of thirst was not significantly different between the three groups, the level of oral status was significantly better with wet water gauze than frozen gauze groups, soaked in either water or normal saline. Conclusion: We recommend nurses choose one of three oral care methods based on patients’ preferences since all three oral care methods showed similar effects in improving postoperative patients’ levels of thirst and oral status.
Ahnak deficiency attenuates high-fat diet-induced fatty liver in mice through FGF21 induction

The AHNAK nucleoprotein has been determined to exert an anti-obesity effect in adipose tissue and further inhibit adipogenic differentiation. In this study, we examined the role of AHNAK in regulating hepatic lipid metabolism to prevent diet-induced fatty liver. Ahnak KO mice have reportedly exhibited reduced fat accumulation in the liver and decreased serum triglyceride (TG) levels when provided with either a normal chow diet or a high-fat diet (HFD). Gene expression profiling was used to identify novel factors that could be modulated by genetic manipulation of the Ahnak gene. The results revealed that fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) was markedly increased in the livers of Ahnak KO mice compared with WT mice fed a HFD. Ahnak knockdown in hepatocytes reportedly prevented excessive lipid accumulation induced by palmitate treatment and was associated with increased secretion of FGF21 and the expression of genes involved in fatty acid oxidation, which are primarily downstream of PPARα. These results indicate that pronounced obesity and hepatic steatosis are attenuated in HFD-fed Ahnak KO mice. This may be attributed, in part, to the induction of FGF21 and regulation of lipid metabolism, which are considered to be involved in increased fatty acid oxidation and reduced lipogenesis in the liver. These findings suggest that targeting AHNAK may have beneficial implications in preventing or treating hepatic steatosis.

Need for plasma resistant ceramic materials has been continuously increased in semiconductor and display industry requiring plasma processing to realize ultra fine circuit process. Among promising candidates, alumina ceramics have still some advantages with respect to its economic aspect. In this study, fabrication of plasma resistant alumina ceramics was tried, and its processing optimization was also aimed. Careful processing control and thereby uniform microstructure of $Al_2O_3$ gave rise to enhanced plasma resistance, even comparable to market-governing commercial $Al_2O_3$. A further study is needed concerning ${\beta}-Al_2O_3$ materials system, presumably playing a decisive role in decreasing plasma resistance of $Al_2O_3$ ceramics.

Enteritis cystica profunda (ECP) is a very rare condition of the small intestine. It is characterized by mucin-filled cystic space and partially lined by nonneoplastic epithelium predominant in the submucosa of the small bowel. It has the identical histopathologic features to those of colitis cystica profunda (CCP), which is a rare benign lesion of the distal colon and rectum of uncertain cause. ECP appears to occur much less than CCP and all reported ECP was associated with intestinal disease, such as Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, Crohn`s disease, hamartomatous polyp, and multiple congenital anomalies. Among the reported ECP cases, only one case was located in duodenum and it was associated with hamartomatous polyps. Interestingly, we experienced a case of ECP in the duodenum without any intestinal disease. The diagnosis was made based on the endoscopic finding and histologic features of the resected specimen. We report this rare case of ECP located in the duodenum without associated small intestinal disease. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2002;39:55-58)

The size of various alumina ceramics used in semiconductor and display industry is required to increase with increase in wafer and panel size. In this research, large alumina ceramics were fabricated by uniaxial pressing, cold isostatic pressing and filter pressing with commercial powder and thereafter sintering at $1600^{\circ}C$ in gas furnace. The large alumina ceramics exhibited dense microstructure corresponding to 98.5% of theoretical density and 99.8% of high purity. The impurities and microstructural defects of the alumina were found to influence the resistance and dielectric properties. The volume resistances in these four aluminas were almost the same while the pure alumina was higher value. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and dielectric strength of aluminas were placed within the range of 10.3~11.5, 0.018~0.036, and 10.1~12.4 kV/mm, respectively.
명품 복제품에 대한 소비자의 태도와 브랜드 자산에 관한 연구 - 브랜드 애착의 매개효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 복제품에 대한 태도와 브랜드 자산과의 관계에서 브랜드 애착이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 파악하기 위해 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 이들 간의 관계를 조사하는데 목적을 두고 있다.<BR> 연구모형에 대한 검증결과, 복제품에 대한 태도는 브랜드 애착에 부적인 영향을 미쳤으며 브랜드 자산에는 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 그러나 브랜드 애착을 매개로 하여 브랜드 자산에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 브랜드 애착은 브랜드 자산에 정적인 영향을 주었으며, 브랜드 애착과 브랜드 자산은 명품 재구매의도에 정적인 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 나타나 가설이 지지되었다.<BR> 본 연구의 의의는 최근 빈번하게 일어나고 있는 패션 복제품 구매에 대한 태도가 긍정적일수록 정품과의 상호작용을 저해하여 정품 브랜드 애착 및 브랜드 자산에 부정적인 영향을 미치게 되어 정품 브랜드의 구매가 낮아진다는 것을 규명하였다는 것이며 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 패션브랜드 마케팅 전락을 수립하는데 도움을 줄 수 있다. The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between brand attitude toward fashion counterfeit products and brand equity, further more to investigate the role of brand attachment as a factor of mediate variable. The result of empirical study revealed attitude toward fashion counterfeit had a directly negative effect on brand attachment, not on brand equity. Attitude toward fashion counterfeit did not have a direct effect on the brand equity. However, it had an effect on brand equity through brand attachment. Brand attachment and brand equity had a positive effect on repurchasing intention of genuine fashion products. Based on these results, this study proposed fashion brand marketing strategies.

The size of various alumina ceramics used in semiconductor and display industry is also required to increase with increase in wafer and panel size. In this research, large alumina ceramics was fabricated by filter pressing of alumina slurry using commercial powder and thereafter sintering at $1600^{\circ}C$ in gas furnace. The characteristics of large alumina ceramics thereby were compared to those of small alumina ceramics prepared by pressure forming such as uniaxial pressing and CIP. Careful control of properties of alumina slurry and filter pressing made the fabrication of large alumina ceramics possible, and its characteristics were equivalent to those of small alumina ceramics. The large alumina ceramics, prepared by sintering the green body of 63% relative density at $1600^{\circ}C$, exhibited both dense microstructure corresponding to 98.5% of relative density and 99.8% of high purity as in starting powder.
