        Increased breast cancer incidence among nurses in a tertiary university hospital in South Korea

        Background: A series of breast cancer cases were recently reported in a tertiary university hospital in South Korea. Nurses are generally exposed to risk factors for breast cancer such as night shift work, antineoplastic agents, and job strain. However, the epidemiological evidence of excess incidence among nurses remains lacking. This study aims to investigate the excess incidence of breast cancer among nurses in a tertiary university hospital and provide epidemiological evidence of occupational risk factors. Methods: A retrospective cohort was developed using personnel records of female workers in the nursing department who worked from January 2011 to June 2021 in a tertiary university hospital in South Korea. Sick leave records were used to identify cases of breast cancer. The standardized incidence ratio of breast cancer among nurses was compared to the general population. Results: A total of 5,509 nurses were followed up for 30,404 person-years, and 26 breast cancer cases were identified. This study revealed a significantly increased breast cancer incidence among all included nurses, with a standardized incidence ratio of 1.65 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.08–2.41), compared to the general population. Workers, who handle antineoplastic agents in their representative department and current and/or former department, had significantly elevated breast cancer standardized incidence ratios of 2.73 (95% CI: 1.008–5.94) and 3.39 (95% CI: 1.46–6.68), respectively. Conclusions: This study provides significant evidence of increased breast cancer risk among nursing staff in a hospital setting, particularly those who handle antineoplastic drugs. Measures that reduce exposure to risk factors should be implemented, especially anticancer drugs, to protect healthcare professionals. Further research at a national level that focuses on healthcare workers is necessary to validate breast cancer incidence and its contributing factors.

        This paper presents a fuzzy data fusion scheme which can analyze the sensor condition, the strength and location of a force applied to a test material. These can be realized by the modelling and fusioning of sensor signals and sensor properties. The technique uses, as the inference variables, relative magnitude of data (RMD), absolute magnitude of data (AMD) initial state (IS), synchronized relational function (SRF) and asynchronized relational function (ARF). To show the usefulness of this scheme, an experiment on the cantilever bar and six strain gages is carried out. The location of the force is inferred from SRF and ARF and the strength from RMD and AMD. In particular, the strength is compared with the measurement data of the force sensor.

        목화 주요형질의 Vr-Wr그래프 분석

        목화 10품종을 이면교배하여 얻은 $F_1\;and\;F_2$, 45개 조합을 공시하여, 수량과 관련된 주당삭수, 개당삭중, 주당종실수, 100립중, 섬도, 섬유장 등 6개 형질을 조사하고 그 형질들이 나타내는 변이를 Hayman과 Jinks의 Vr-Wr graph분석방법에 의해 유전자 분포상태 및 우성정도를 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 유전적 변이 분석에서 모든 실험 형질간에 높은 유의성이 나타났다. 2. Vr-Wr 그래프분석에 의한 $F_1$의 형질별 우성정도는 삭중, 1삭조면중, 섬도를 제외한 모든 실험형질에서 완전 우성으로 유전되었으나, $F_2$의 우성정도 및 유전자 분포상태는 $F_1$과 다소 다른 경향이었다. The quantitative inheritance of some yield characters in Gosyium spp was carried out by means of a $10\times10$ diallel cross. In this study, 45 combinations of $F_1\;and\;F_2$ generations were genetically analyzed through 10 different cultivars diallel cross population of cotton (Gosyium spp) at an experimental field. The results of Vr-Wr graph analysis of six characters such as number of boll, boll weight, lint weight per boll, 100 seeds weight, fiber fineness and fiber length in those combinations by the Hayman's method were as follow: 1. The significant difference was observed from the genetic variance of all the examined characters. 2. On based the Vr-Wr graphical analysis, $F_1$ showed a complete dominance in all the experimental characters except boll weight, lint weight per boll and fiber fineness, but the dominance degree and gene arrangement of $F_2$ were somewhat different from those of $F_1$.

        계면수 변화에 따른 CFRP/Foam 원형부재의 에너지 흡수특성

        In this study, one type of circular shaped composite tube was used, combined with reinforcing foam and without foam. Furthermore, CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) circular member manufactured from CFRP prepreg sheet for lightweight design. CFRP is an anisotropic material which is the most widely adapted lightweight structural member. The crashworthy behavior of circular composite material tubes subjected to static axial compression under same conditions is reported in this paper. Test was executed in order to compare the results to the energy absorption and collapse shape. The collapse mode during the failure process were observed and analyzed. The behavior of polymeric foams to the tubes crashworthiness were also investigated. According to the experimental results, specimens filled with foam are higher total energy absorption than the other specimens not filled with the foam.

        DSTC(Defense Systems Test Center) in ADD(Agency for Defense Development) performs a test for various kinds of weapon system. In order to provide accurate test measurement data relating to the weapon system's performance with customer, A reliable test process and an objective analysis of the measurement data are required. DSTC is trying to apply CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) Ver 1.2 in a test process. In this paper, we present the result of CMMI Engineering Process Area Modelling of Test Process.

        측정시스템의 정확도 평가와 공인화 절차

        본 논문은 측정시스템의 정확도와 불확도 설정, 측정기법 및 측정시스템에 대한 공인화 방안을 제시하고 있다. 측정오차는 크게 정적오차 및 동적오차로 구분되는데, 측정시 항상 존재할 수 있는 정적오차를 구할 수 있는 오차방정식과, 공인화 절차를 제안하였다. This paper presents how to evaluate the accuracy and uncertainty of the measuring techniques and the measurement systems, and establish their accreditation procedures. There are largely static error and dynamic error in the measurement error. In particular, the static error which always remains in the measurement systems is obtained by proposed error equations. In addition, the accreditation procedures are proposed.

        TV 유리의 반복 성형공정에서 금형 열사이클 해석을 위한 효과적 방법

        An efficient method is developed for plunger thermal cycle analysis in repeated forming process of the TV glass. The plunger undergoes temperature fluctuation during a cycle due to the repeated contact and separation from the glass, which attains a cyclic steady state having same temperature history at every cycle. Straightforward analysis of this problem brings about more than 80 cycles to get reasonable solution, and yet hard to setup stopping criteria due to extremely slow convergence. An exponential fitting method is proposed to overcome the difficulty, which finds exponential function to best approximate temperature values of 3 consecutive cycles, and new cycle is restarted with the fitted value at infinite time. Numerical implementation shows that it reduces the number of cycles dramatically to only 6-18 cycles to reach convergence within 10 accuracy. A system for the analysis is constructed, in which the thermal analysis is performed by commercial software ANSYS, and the fitting of the result is done by IMSL library. From the parametric studies, one reveals some important facts that although the plunger cooling or the glass thickness is increased, its counter part in contact is not much affected, duo to the low thermal conductance of the glass.

        Objective of this paper is to introduce a new technology known as prognostics and health management (PHM) which enables a real-time life prediction for safety critical systems under extreme loading conditions. In the PHM, Bayesian framework is employed to account for uncertainties and probabilities arising in the overall process including condition monitoring, fault severity estimation and failure predictions. Three applications - aircraft fuselage crack, gearbox spall and battery capacity degradation are taken to illustrate the approach, in which the life is predicted and validated by end-of-life results. The PHM technology may allow new maintenance strategy that achieves higher degree of safety while reducing the cost in effective manner.

        삼차신경통에 보기거풍산(補氣祛風散)을 사용한 임상증례 1례

        Objectives : This is a clinical report on a 63-year-old female patient with Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) treated by oriental medicine treatments. Methods : The patient was treated by acupuncture, moxibustion and herb medication. The improvement of the patient was judged by Visual Analog Scale(VAS). Results : The pain had been gradually reduced and VAS became 2 after the treatment for 25 days. Conclusions : Oriental medicine treatment including Bogigeopung-san was very effective to improve the TN patient's symptoms. It is necessary to have more observations and cases on the patients with TN.
