In this paper I will describe the synchronic distributions of the various locative forms, which were reflected in the old materials from South-western Dialect of the late 19th century. The most frequent locative form of this dialect at that time was '-의'[ ***** ], which was written '-으'[*****] or sometimes '-이'[i]. The most noticeable fact is that the above mentioned case form '-의'[*****] is used as the standard form of genitive in the most part of Korean regional dialects nowdays. Therefore I want to blow the historical reasons to the effect that on what conditions the standard genitive form '의'[*****] was used in the position of locative at the late 19th century in this South-western dialect. But I think that this fact have some consequences with other pecular phenomenon of genitive '-에'[e] of the most part of Korean dialect. As a matter of fact, from the time of 17th Korean on we can find the cases, where the locative form '-에'[e] began to move to the postion of the genitive from occasionally. In order to solve that puzzle, I think the first important step to put is to research the diachronical development of the genitive and locative case system in Korean. After reviewing the regional distribution and some variations of locative variants of that historical dialect, I dare to establish a postulate to the effect that in Korean dialect the inflectional system, especially in the domain of declension had strong tendency to preserve the old traditional system unchanged. As a consequence, the locative form '-의'[*****] in late 19th century as well as in modern times South-western dialect have reflected the old Korean case system as far as possible. From this historical implication, I conjectured forward that there are some stong possiblity at the titre of old Korean there was no differentiation between the genitive and locative case.
