Pseudoaneurysms are rare complications of orgthognathic surgery, trauma or other surgical procedures in the head and neck regions. Surgical approach is a routine procedure of bleeding control. However, bleeding control using angiography and embolization can also be an excellent method. We experienced pseudoaneurysm of the inferior alveolar artery occurring after surgical curettage of cystic lesion. The 33-year-old man who underwent surgical curettage of keratocystic odontogenic tumor was presented with severe bleeding in the right mandible ramal inner surface 14 days after the surgical curettage. After hemostasis with vaseline gauze packing and pressure, bleeding temporarily stopped. However, bleeding started after 14 days and soon it has been continued. Finally, the patient was diagnosed as pseudoaneurysm of the inferior alveolar artery from the enhanced-computed tomography images, and angiographic embolization was performed successfully. We report a rare case of pseudoaneurysm of the inferior alveolar artery after benign tumor curettage and review of the previewer's literature.

In this paper, it is studied the influence of the damage occurred in the cable on dynamic character of the cable. Experimentally, it is examined the changes of natural frequencies of cables before and after damage for five specimens which have the character of tension cables in five World-Cup stadiums constructed in 2002. The result of experiments shows that with the decrease of the bending stiffness, the effect of the damage on the dynamic character of the cable is decreased, and if cable has the same length and damage location, the change of the dynamic character in the cable with the relatively large tension is small.

Purpose: To obtain the accurate knowledge of the fundamental mechanical properties of the external fixator affected by variations in arrangements and structures. Material and Method : We used newly developed external fixator, Anyfix, universal testing machine and plastic padding bone model which had similar structural properties to human tibia. The measured performance for seven different configurations of external fixators was its ability to control the motion of the bone fragment at the fracture site. Based on a unit of applied load, the corresponding displacement measured at the fracture site was used to described the stiffness of the fixation device for each load. Three stiffness moduli can be determined as axial stiffness, anterior posterior bending stiffness and lateral bending stiffness. Rusults: In basic configuration, all three stiffnesses for unilateral two plane external fixator showed marked increase than those for unilateral one plane model. Axial compression stiffness and bending stiffness were increased when ring component were located far from the fracture site. In modified configuration, all three stiffnesses were increased when the number of pin was increased and small sized ring was used. Conclusion: the stiffness of the external fixator can be substantially increased by using unilateral two plane, locating the ring at far portion from the fracture site, using a small sized ring and increasing the number of pins.
