Human Neuroblastoma Cell Line BE2에 대한 건비보신항암탕(健脾補腎抗癌湯)의 세포고사 기전 연구

Objective: In order to investigate cell death mechanisms by Gunbibosinhangam-Tang(G.B.H) in cancer cells, the activities of apoptosis signaling pathway were tested in human neuroblastoma cell line BE2. Methods: Viability of BE2 cells was markedly decreased by treatment of the water extract of G.B.H in a dose-dependent manner. G.B.H-induced cell death was confirmed as apoptosis characterized by chromatin condensation, We tested whether the water extract of G.B.H affects the anti-apoptotic proteins such as Bcl-$X_L$ Results: Bcl-$X_L$ was uneffected by the addition of the water extract of G.B.H in a time-dependent manner. Cleavage of PARP(poly-ADP-ribose polymerase) by activation of caspase-8 protease was also observed in BE2 cells by the treatment of the water extract of G.B.H. Conclusion: These results suggest that the water extract of G.B.H exerts anti-cancer effects on human neuroblastoma BE2 cells by inducing the apoptotic death via activation of intrinsic caspase cascades.

간극효과를 고려한 증기발생기 전열관의 3차원 유한요소해석

Steam generator is one of the main equipments that affect safety and long term operation in nuclear power plants. Fluid flows inside and outside of the steam generator tubes and induces vibration. To prevent the vibration the tubes are supported by AVB (anti vibration bar). When the steam generator tube contact to AVB, it is damaged by the accumulation of wear and corrosion. Therefore studies are required to determine the effects of the gap between the steam generator tube and AVB. In order to obtain the stress and the displacement distributions of the steam generator tube, three dimensional finite element analyses were performed by using the commercial program ANSYS. Using the calculated the stress and the displacement distributions, the static residual strength of the steam generator tube can be evaluated. The results show that the stress and displacement of the steam generator tube increase significantly compared with the results from a zero-gap model.

자금정(紫金錠)이 간암세포주 HepG2의 세포고사 및 세포주기에 미치는 영향

Objectives : Jageum-Jung is used as an anti-cancer agent in oriental medicine, but the mechanism by which it induces cell death in cancer cells is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Jageum-Jung on apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in HepG2 hepatoma cells. Methods : Various cancer cell lines including HepG2, C6 glioma, SH-SY5Y, PANC-1, and MCF-7 cells, were used. Apoptosis was determined by DAPI nuclei staining and flow cytometry in HepG2 cells treated with various concentrations (from 25 to 200 ${\mu}g/ml$) of $H_2O$ extract of Jageum-Jung (JGJ) for 48 hrs. Expression of cell cycle arrest mediators including Rb, p53, p21, cyclin B1, cdk4, and cyclin E proteins were measured by Western blot analysis. To estimate intracellular hydrogen peroxide levels and intracellular nitric oxide levels, HepG2 cells were stained with DCFH-DA dye and DAF dye, subjected on flow cytometric analysis. Results : 1. Jageum-Jung decreased the viability of HepG2 cells in a dose-dependent manner. 2. Jageum-Jung induced the catalytic activation of caspase-3 in HepG2 cells. 3. Jageum-Jung increased the intracellular hydrogen peroxide and NO in HepG2 cells. 4. Jageum-Jung increased the expression of Rb, p53 and p21 in HepG2 cells. 5. Jageum-Jung induced the expression of cyclin B1, cdk4, and cyclin E in HepG2 cells. Conclusions : Taken together, we suggest that Jageum-Jung exhibits cytotoxic effects on HepG2 cells, causing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. The results showed that Jageum-Jung may do so by regulating the expression of specific target molecules that promote efficient apoptotic cell death following $G_2$/M phase arrest in a dose-dependent manner.

북한경제의 정상화전략

북한경제의 정상화란 대내외 행동양식에 있어서 국제적 규범과 통념에 부합되고 지속가능한 확대재생산 구조가 확립되며, 국민들의 물질적 수요를 충족시켜주는 경제구조를 말한다. 따라서 북한경제의 정상화는 ‘경제의 근대화’를, ‘경제 자율화’를, ‘국제사회의 일원’으로, ‘대외지향의 경제적 기반을 구축’하는 것을 의미한다. 북한경제 정상화의 장애요인은 경제체제의 비효율성과 잘못된 발전전략 때문이다. 따라서 북한경제의 정상화는 체제의 비효율성을 제거하기 위한 체제이행전략과 잘못된 발전전략을 수정․보완하여 성장구조로 전환하기 위한 산업화전략이 필요하다. 체제이행전략의 관건은 사적 소유제도의 확대와 중앙집권적 계획경제의 시장화이다. 북한경제의 산업화전략의 관건은 수출산업육성을 통한 산업화를 도모하는 것이다. The normalization of North Korean economy requires three things: meeting international norms in its domestic and foreign behavior patterns, establishing sustainable expanded reproduction structure and satisfying the materialistic needs of its people. Therefore the normalization of the North’s economy suggests the modernization and liberalization of its economy while the North being a part of international society and at the same time establishing Outward-looking economic platform. The normalization of North Korean economy is hindered by two factors: inefficiency of economic system and misled-development strategy. Hence, the normalization of the North’s economy needs transition strategy of removing the inefficiency of the system as well as industrialization strategy of revising misled-development plan. The key for the transition strategy lies on the expansion of the private property and marketization of the centralistic planned economy. And the success of the industrialization depends on upbringing of export industry.

아리스토텔레스의 실재론과 수학적 허구주의 : 리어(J. Lear)의 해석을 중심으로

이 논문의 목적은 리어(J. Lear)의 아리스토텔레스의 수학철학에 대한 허구주의적 해석을 살펴봄으로써, 허구주의적 해석 일반이 안고 있는 문제점들을 드러내는 것이다. 아리스토텔레스는 그의 수학철학에서 서로 양립할 수 없어 보이는 다음의 두 주장을 펼친다. 즉, (i) 수학적 대상들은 감각적 대상들로부터 추상된 것이며 감각적 대상들로부터 분리될 수 없다. (ii) 수학적 대상들은 감각적 대상들 안에 있지 않으며 질료로서만 존재한다. 리어에 따르면, 우리가 감각적 대상들로부터 추상하는 것은 점, 직선, 원 등과 같은 기하학적 대상을 구성하는 기본적 요소들뿐이며, 이 요소들을 결합하여 기하학적 대상들을 구성한다. 리어의 해석은 정확성의 문제를 피하면서 (i)과 (ii)를 동시에 수용할 수 있다는 장점이 있지만, 기하학적 대상을 아리스토텔레스의 존재론 안에서 허구적 존재자로 만든다는 문제점이 있다. 리어는 기하학적 도형을 구성하는 요소들이 감각적 대상으로부터 추상되었기 때문에, 기하학적 대상은 실재 세계와 연결되어 있다고 주장한다. 그러나 수학적 허구주의는 아리스토텔레스의 과학적 실재론과 양립할 수 없으며, 만일 수학적 대상이 허구적이라면, 아리스토텔레스의 진리론 안에서 어떻게 수학이 참인지 설명할 방법이 없다. The aim of this paper is to reveal problems that fictionalist interpretations of Aristotle’s view of mathematics raise by examining Lear’s interpretation of Aristotle. Aristotle makes seemingly incompatible claims in his philosophy of philosophy of mathematics: (i) that mathematical objects are abstracted and not separable from sensible objects and (ii) that they are not in sensible objects but exist only as matter. According to Lear, what we abstract from sensible objects are only basic elements of geometrical figures, such as points, lines, and circles; a geometrical figure is constructed out of these elements. While Lear’s interpretation can accommodate both (i) and (ii) with sidestepping the precision problem, it runs into, among others, the problem that it turns mathematical objects into fictional entities in Aristotle’s ontology. Although Lear insists that a geometrical figure constructed out of elements abstracted from sensible objects has a link with reality, mathematical fictionalism is not compatible with Aristotle’s scientific realism, and that there is no way to explain mathematical truth in terms of Aristotle’s own theory of truth if mathematical objects are fictional.

The similarity, analogy and equivalence between the phenomenon due to electric and magnetic dipoles have been discussed in the open literature for different situations. Here we are presenting the numerical proof of the trajectory of leakage electric field due to a semi-infinite electric dipole layer in the external periphery and the electric field in the space between oppositely charged surfaces. The result is also valid for the fringing electric field of a parallel plate capacitor. The result is also proved to be a dual of Ampere’s law in the electrostatics due to a semi-infinite electric dipole layer.

북한 IT 산업의 발전전략과 과제

본 논문은 북한이 성장동력으로 채택한 정보통신산업의 발전전략과 과제에 대한 연구이다. 북한의 국가목표는 강성대국이며, 북한의 IT 산업의 발전전략도 강성강국을 달성하기 위한 전략이며, 이의 사상적 기반이 신사고와 과학중시사상이다. 북한이 IT 산업을 경제발전의 성장동력으로 채택한 배정은 첫째, 경제위기를 벗어나기 위해 산업화를 생략하고 정보화를 먼저 달성하여 산업화의 효율성을 높이는 단번 도약(Leap-frog)의 전략을 채택하였으며, 둘째, 북한이 내부역량을 집중한다면 단기간 내에 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있다는 인식을 가지고 있기 때문이다. 그리고 경제전 반에 효율성을 제고하려는 실리적 배경과 에너지 소비가 많은 중공업 대신 IT 산업을 채택하였으며, IT 산업의 발전을 통해 세계각국의 정보를 파악? 이해하는 한편, 내부적으로는 주민들이 정보화를 통해 외부세계와 접촉하는 메커니즘을 통제하기 위한 기술을 개발하여 체제를 유지하려는 정치적 목적도 있다. 북한이 경제성장동력으로 IT 산업을 채택한 것은 현실적 타당성이 있지만 IT 산업은 성장동력으로서 통신인프라의 열악, IT 관련 기술수준이 낙후, 북한에 대한 전략물자 반출금지, 사회주의체제가 가지고 있는 물질적 자극의 결여, 체제유지를 위해 일반주민이 인터넷 사용을 적극통제 동의 문제점이 있다. 그리고 북한이 IT 산업을 발전전략으로 채택하기 위해서는 경제위기국면을 먼저 탈피하기 위해 개혁과 개방이 전제되어야 하며, IT 인프라의 구축을 위해 남북경제협력의 활성화가 필수적이다. 그리고 미국과의 관계개선을 통해 대북경제재조치가 해제되어야 하며, 정책결정자의 확고한 의지와 주민들의 디지털 마인드를 육성하기 위한 정책수단을 개발하는 것이 요구된다. This paper studies development strategies and issues of North Korea's Information Technology industry. North Korea's emphasis on the importance of IT industry can be found in fostering science and New Way of Thinking in new year's joint editorials in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Furthermore, the fact that Kim Jong-il visited Shanghai's Pudong area in May 2000 and Zhong guan cun in China in January in 2001 sheds light on the extent to which North Korea IS interested m IT industry. In light of the ever-increasing economic exchange and cooperation between North and South Korea, it is meaningful to look into the development strategies and issues of North Korea's IT industry. The reason why North Korea decided to focus on IT industry is: I) to leapfrog industrialization process and foster the adoption of information technology, thereby increasing the efficiency of industrialization, 2) to jump out of the economic slump by concentrating internal capabilities on information technology, 3) to avoid energy-consuming heavy industry, 4) to increase understanding of the importance of information the world over, and 5) to grasp more control of its people by developing the technology to control information flows to contact the outside world. It is practically reasonable that North Korea adopted IT industry as the main growth engine. However, problems still abound: lack of communications infrastructure, low technological level, lack of understanding of private ownership arising from socialist system, and authorities' tight control on communications among residents. This study argues that North Korea's adoption of IT industry as its development strategy should be based on the adoption of reform and opening measures and, furthermore, increased cooperation with South Korea. This paper also contends that further measures should include the lifting of economic restrictions imposed on North Korea and that North Korean authorities need to come up with policies to equip local residents with digital mindset suitable for information age.

PRO-LOCA를 이용한 원전 배관의 파손확률에 대한 민감도 해석

Recently a new version of PRO-LOCA program was released. Using the program, failure probability of pipes can be evaluated considering fatigue and/or stress corrosion crack growth and the effects of various parameters on the integrity of pipes in nuclear power plants can be evaluated quantitatively. The analysis results can be used to establish an inspection plan and to examinethe effects of important parameters in a maintenance plan. In this study, sensitivity analyses were performed using the program for several important parameters including sampling method, initial crack size, number of initial fabrication flaws, operation temperature, inspection interval, operation temperature and nominal applied bending stress. The effect of parameters on the leak and rupture probability of pipes was evaluated due to fatigue or stress corrosion crack growth.
