        Factors Associated with Indeterminate and False Negative Results of QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube Test in Active Tuberculosis

        Background: The sensitivities and specificities of interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) vary among different population studies, and the data on the routine use of IGRAs are limited. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) test in the diagnosis of active tuberculosis. Methods: We conducted a prospective study, enrolling 77 patients with suspected pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), at a secondary care teaching hospital in Seoul. Results: In total, 12 (15.6%) patients showed indeterminate results due to positive control failure on the QFT-GIT test. Indeterminate results were significantly associated with the elderly, history of the intensive care unit stay,lymphocytopenia, especially low CD4 count, increased C-reactive protein and decreased protein levels. Of the 77 patients, 44 (57.1%) were diagnosed with active pulmonary tuberculosis, and the percentage of false negative results of the QFT-GIT was 36.4% (vs. 31.8% with TST). In the TB group with >65 years old (n=12), the proportions of the indeterminate (33.3% vs. 3.1%) and the false negative results (58.3% vs. 25.0%) of the QFT-GIT were significantly higher than in the younger TB group (n=32). Conclusion: Indeterminate and false negative results of QFT-GIT test were not infrequent in tuberculosis, especially in the elderly. Care should be considered for the interpretation with the elderly, immunocompromised, chronic and severely diseased patients.       • 무인비행체를 위한 듀얼카메라 시스템

        본 논문에서는 무인비행체를 위한 듀얼 카메라 영상처리 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템에서는 무인비행체에서 카메라 시스템을 운용함에 있어서 효율성을 극대화하기 위해 두 개의 카메라를 이용한 영상정보의 습득 및 처리 방법을 제안하였다. 영상의 습득과 프로세싱 과정에서는 OpenCV와 FF-MPEG을 활용한 영상의 분석과 압축을 구현하였다. 무인비행체에서의 데이터 전송은 디지털 광대역 통신인 와이브로를 이용하였다. 또한 지상스테이션은 데이터를 전송받아 영상을 확인하고 무인비행체조작과 카메라조작 명령을 내리는 역할을 담당하도록 하였다.

        가자미식해에서 분리한 Lactobacillus spp.의 항헬리코박터 활성 평가

        Helicobacter pylori infects the mucosa, induces chronic inflammation and ulcers, and is known as a biological carcinogen. Antibiotics are used as therapeutic agents for H. pylori, but there are problems such as resistance. Thus, research is being conducted on the use of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) as an alternative therapeutic agent. There have been many studies on LAB related to kimchi. However, studies related to Gajami Sikhae, a traditional fermented seafood in Korea, are insufficient. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of LAB isolated from Gajami Sikhae on H. pylori and its use as a probiotic. Forty species of LAB isolated from Gajami Sikhae were identified as Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus brevis, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, and Weisella paramesenteroides, and 10 strains of 40 species were selected through liquid inhibition assay of H. pylori. The selected LAB supernatant at 1%, 5%, and 10% had a growth inhibitory effect on H. pylori 52, 51, e-53, and 309. The adjusted pH of 7.0 was used for the LAB culture supernatant, in reference to a study that the growth of H. pylori is affected by acid. All 10 strains of LAB at 5% and 10% concentration suppressed the growth of H. pylori 52, and 7 strains of LAB at 10% concentration suppressed the growth of H. pylori e-53. LAB also had the effect of suppressing the activity of urease. Finally, LAB isolated from Gajami Sikhae is expected to be useful for eradicating and preventing H. pylori.

        가자미식해에서 분리한 유산균의 프로바이오틱스 특성

        가자미식해에서 분리된 유산균 40종은 Lactobacillus plantarum spp., Leuconostoc mesenteroides spp., Lactobacillus brevis spp., and Weisella paramenteroides spp.로 확인됐으며, 40종 중 10종을 선별해 검사에 사용했다. 본 연구에서는 가자미식해에서 분리된 유산균을 프로바이오틱스로 활용하기 위해 산 및 인공 위액 저항성, 담즙산 저항성, 자가 응집성, 공동 응집성, 세포 표면 소수성 등의 프로바이오틱 연구를 수행하였다. 분리한 유산균주는 산성 및 인공 위액에 대해 저항성을 보여 높은 생존율을 나타내었으며, L. plantarum GS11이 가장 뛰어난 저항성을 보였다. 또한 담즙산 저항성 측정 결과 모든 유산균주가 108~109 log CFU/ml의 생균수로, 100% 이상의 생존력을 보여주었다. 그리고 세포 표면 부착능을 간접적으로 측정하기 위해 응집력 평가를 한 결과, autoaggregation 능력을 46% 이상 나타내었다. 세포 표면 소수성 평가를 위해 Xylene 부착능을 측정한 결과 분리된 유산균주에서 32.2%의 소수성을 가지는 B. subtilis 보다 더 뛰어난 세포 부착률을 보여주었다. 이와같이 유산균은 프로바이오틱스로 활용될 만한 유의미한 결과를 보였으며, L. plantarum GS12와 L. plantarum GS13을 제외한 유산균에서 항균 활성이 나타났다. 따라서 가자미 식해에서 분리된 유산균은 다양한 프로바이오틱스 특성을 가진 프로바이오틱스로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단되어진다.

        천연추출물을 함유하는 항균나노섬유의 제조 및 특성

        Research in electrospun nanofibers has undergone significant progress in the last one decade. One of the main driving forces for this progress is the increasing use of these polymer nanofibers for biomedical and biotechnological applications. In this work, we introduced about the fabrication of the natural extracted and silver nanoparticle embedded electrospun nanofibers through electrospinning of the various polymers and also presented the results of the anti-bacterial properties of the prepared nanofibers. The Ag and natural extract embedded electrospun nanofiber were responsible for the antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcusaureus ATCC 12600(T) and The Ag -embedded nanofibers showed excellent antimicrobial properties by killing Gram-positive humanpathogen, S.aureus. These Ag and natural extract embedded electrospun nanofibers could be promising as a functional material for bio-medical applications such as wound healing, anti-bacterial fabrics.

        MGIS를 이용한 광양만의 지형변화 분석

        This study discusses the spatiotemporal characteristics of the geomorphological changes in Gwangyang Bay. In this study, we analyzed four aerial photos and nautical charts. The geomorphological changes that have occurred over time were identified using an MGIS (Marine geographic information system) overlay analysis. As a result, we were able to identify the geomorphological changes that have resulted from the coastal development and fairway dredging of Gwangyang Bay. This paper demonstrates that the marine geographic information system can be effective in monitoring the geomorphological changes in castal zones.

        까치버섯(Polyozellus multiplex) 추출물의 생리활성과 이를 첨가한 양갱의 이화학적 및 관능적 품질 특성

        Total phenol content (TPC) of Polyozellus multiplex was the highest at 97.22±0.91 mg/g when extracted with 70% ethanol. ABTS radical cation decolorization of both water and 70% ethanol extract samples was greater than 95.00%. The TBARS inhibition activity of P. multiplex extracted with 70% ethanol was higher than that of water extract samples and anti-oxidation activity was identified as 80% or more at 50-200 μg/mL TPC concentration. The α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of P. multiplex showed above 85.0% in both water and 70% ethanol extracts at 150 μg/mL phenolics. Hyaluronidase inhibitory activity was 46.28% and 27.52% in the water and 70% ethanol extracts at 200 μg/mL TPC concentration, respectively. The white and red yanggaeng color values of L, a, and b were all changed with the added extracted powder. Rheological analysis of hardness, springiness, and chewiness, demonstrated decreases as the extracted powder content increased. However, as the added extracted powder increased, cohesiveness was not affected. As a result of the sensory test, it was determined that for white and red yanggaeng, the addition of 0.5% (white) and 1.0% or less (red) of the extracted powder is appropriate, respectively. Considering the intrinsic color of P. multiplex powder extracts, it is thought that it may be desirable to manufacture it based on red yanggaeng. Therefore, it was thought that can be expected biological activities of yanggaeng prepared with P. multiplex extracted powder.
