In this paper, a new MR technology is developed with squeeze smart MR damper for structural vibration control. And various performance tests and dynamic modeling are studied on identification of the dynamic characteristics of this device. This developed control device is designed for a compact large capacity by separating magnetic orifice from the main cylinder. Experimental tests are done with various dynamic loading conditions. Force-displacement hysteresis loops and force-velocity relationship curves are acquired for identification of dynamic characteristics to evaluate of the performance of this developed device. Finally, two types analytic models, based on power model and Bingham model, are investigated for the predicting of dynamic behavior for squeeze smart MR damper by comparing with experimental results.
