신생흰쥐의 실험적 뇌경색-저산소에 대한 페니토인과 니트로글리세린의 효과

The goal of this study was to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of phenytoin(PH) and nitroglycerin(NTG) using in the developing rat brains. Seven days old Sprague Dawley rats underwent right carotid ligation under the halothane anesthesia and then they stayed in the oxygen chamber(8% oxygen) for 3 hours in a awakened state with one of four paradigms : the control group with no medication(58), the PH-treated group receiving intraperitoneal injection of diphenylhydantoin(30mg/kg) before the oxygen camber session(17), the NTG-treated group with skin attachment of NTG(in escalating doses to 4mg/kg/hr) for 36hrs before and 48hrs post ischemia(33), and the PH plus NTG treated group(31). Temperature was controlled accurately before, and during hypoxia. The animals were sacrificed one week after ischemic-hypoxic injury. The weight disparities of the right and left were measured for the comparison(((L-R)/L)×100). The histologic study(HE stain) was made in each animal for comparison in neuronal loss among th groups. PH was effective in reducing neuronal damage in terms of weight comparison(24±2.4% damage in the control vs.5±2.9% damage in th PH group, p<0.001) and degree of the histological changes especially in the hippocampal region(p<0.05 in CA1, CA2, and CA3 region). Transdermal NTG did not show any beneficial effects compared with the control group(23±3.0% vs 24±2.5%). The PH/NTG treated group had no additional effects compared with the PH-treated group on both weight comparison(4±1.8% vs 5±2.9%) developing rat brain may be reduced by the compounds that modulate voltage-dependent sodium channels such as PH but not by NTG.

A case of trigeminal neuralgia caused by a contralateral acoustic neurinoma is presented. After removal of the tumor, the neuralgic pain has completely disappeared. The pathophysiology of this entity is briefly reviewed. The neuralgic pain may be caused by the compression of the contralateral trigeminal nerve by the mass effect in this case.
재발한 신경교종에서의 PCV 화학요법 : A Preliminary Report

Twelve patients with recurrent malignant glioma were treated with combination chemotherapy, consisting of procarbazlne(60㎎/㎡, 8th-21th day), CCNU(110㎎/㎡. 1st day), and vincristine(1.4㎎/㎡. 8th and 29th day) every 6 weeks. Most patients had undergone initial resection of primary tumor, postoperative radiotherapy, and another form of chemotherapy. Response or progression was defined as improvement or deterioration in MRI scan. Assessment of response followed evaluation of MRI obtained after the completion of each two cycles of chemotherapy, if possible. Partial(more than 50% reduction of tumor mass) response at 15+ to 47+ weeks after chemotherapy was noted in three(60%) of the five patients with recurrent oligodendrogliomas. But in patients with recurrent anaplastic astrocytoma or glioblastoma, partial response at 8+ weeks after chemotherapy was noted in one(14%) of the seven patients. It is suggested that PCV chemotherapy is more effective for patients with recurrent oligodendrogliomas than other recurrent gliomas.
두개강내로 전이된 Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma 2례 : 증례보고 Report of Two Cases

The authors describe two cases of unusual intracranial metastatic adenoid cystic carcinomas. A 42-year-old woman had a right pariental epidural metastatic mass. presumed hematogenous. spread from a primary tumor in the parotid gland. In second case, a 32-year-old man had a intracranial metastatic adenoid cystic carcinoma mimicking calcified psammomatous meningioma on CT scans. We present these unusual cases with a review of relevant literature and a discussion of possible pathogenesis.

The object of this study was to investigate the removal of LAS in water treatment using BAC. Batch tests were performed as a preliminary step for continuous flow test. Ozone of different concentrations was contacted with LAS. The more ozone was dosed, the higher LAS was removed. Isotherm tests were carried out by bottle point method. Data from isotherm tests were described by Freundlich isotherm with the coefficient, K of 0.521 and 1/n of 0.127. The continuous flow apparatus was composed of 4 units to study the effects of ozonation on biological activity of GAC. The effects of ozonation were studied by operation of Unit A.B.D with ozone concentrations of 1, 3 and 0mg/L respectively in ozone contactors and Unit C with 3mg/L CIO_2 concentration to control biological activitity in GAC column. To compare adsorption parameters among each units, the Bohard-Adams model was applied. The adsorption capacities, N of A, B, C, D GAC column were 121.3kg/m^3, 101kg/m^3, 52.6kg/m^3, 81.6kg/m^3 respectively, and the adsorption rates, K of A, B, C, D column were 19.4kg/m^3·day, 22.7kg/m^3·day, 29kg/m^3·day, 23.9kg/m^3·day respectively. The difference in the adsorption capacities and adsorption rates could be deduced by bioregeneration extent of GAC influenced with ozone does.
