As an effort to find a new scaffold for ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibition, we have prepared total 11 phenylalkylated piperazine derivatives and tested their ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities. Compounds 8 ($IC_{50}=2.73{\pm}0.075mM$) possessing two 3-methoxyphenethyl group on 1,4-position of piperazine showed comparable potency to acarbose used as reference. But other compounds were inactive to ${\alpha}$-glucosidase. The result indicated that proper substituents on the piperazine can engender ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities on the piperazine derivatives.

As an effort to find a new scaffold for a-glucosidase inhibition, we have prepared total 11 phenylalkylated piperazine derivatives and tested their a-glucosidase inhibitory activities. Compounds 8 (IC50=2.73±0.075 mM) possessing two 3-methxyphenethyl group on 1.4 position of piperazine showed comparable potency to acarbose used as reference. But other compounds were inactive to a-glucosidase. The result indicated that proper substituents on the piperazine can engender a-glucosidase inhibitory activities on the piperazine derivatives.

This study was aimed to elucidate the relationship between the housewives' information collection and their purchasing behavior in terms of information source, information collection, and housewives' social status (age, income, education, job). Questionnaire is given to based on theoretical review and preceding study. A 415 sample was taken from Seoul area, from September 5, to 12, 1989. Data were analyzed in terms of ANOVA and Chi square test. The major results of this study are as follows ; 1. The recognition of information by housewives showed to be 20.4/27(76/100), which was higher than the average. The values were siginificantly related to housewives' demo-graphic variables such as age(p<0.01), income(p<0.05), and educational background(p< 0.001). 2. The information source and information collection action were related to the durable goods(refrigerator, washing machine, gas range) of 6 information sources(one's judgement, explanation and warranty of the quality of the goods, report of cosumer group(research materials, mailed materials, pamphlet, purchasing guide, booklet, mass media as TV, radio, journal, newspaper, seller's advice, family, friend, a close acquaintance's advice) the majority of housewives used 3 or 4 of information sources. However, among housewives' age of twenties consulted 5 information sources. 3. Information receptive action (1) Income and education of the housewives were signigicantly related to the degree of information satisfaction. (2) Age of housewives were significantly related to information confidence. (3) Age of the housewives were significantly related to durable goods acquisition, and influence of neighborhood. (4) Age and education for the housewives were significantly related to information utilization. For further study based upon the results, the proposals are as follows ; 1. Credible neutral information sources should be provided by govermental standard, consumer protection organization, journals of consumers and mass media's consumer education program etc. 2. In daily life housewives should be educated to utilize the information efficiently and positively. Consumer education program is recomended so as to fullfil as the above. 3. For further detailed research, the standardization of the instrument should be elaborated.

Salmonella serogroups A, B, C1, C2 및 D를 분류하기 위한 Multiplex PCR법을 개발하였다. Serogroups A, B, C1, C2 및 D에 특이적인 O-antigen 구조를 합성하는 유전자- rthS, rthI, wbaA, wbaZ 및 Salmonella O-antigen구조 합성에 공통적으로 관여하는 유전자(rfaK)에 유래하는 6쌍의 primer를 합성하였다. 합성된 primer들의 각각의 serogroup들에 대한 특이성을 분석하기 위해 group A 1균주, group B 11균주, group C1 3균주, group C2 2균주, group D 8균주, group A-D에 속하지 않는 Salmonella 4균주 및 non-Salmonella enteric pathogens 9균주를 이용하여 multiPlex PCR을 수행하였다. 각각의 serogroup들의 PCR산물을 분석한 결과 각각의 serogroup은 group-specific한 primer에 의해서만 특이적인 PCR 산물이 증폭된 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서 합성된 prlmers sets는 임상 검체로부터 직접 Salmonella serogroups A, B, C1, C2 및 D를 검출하는데 이용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed for making an identification of Salmonella serogroups A, B, C1, C2, and D. Five sets of primers were designed from O:2(A), O:4(B), O:7(C1), O:8(C2), and O:9(D) antigen-specific genes-rfbS, rfbJ. wbaA, wbaZ, and rfbE, respectively, in addition to a set of primer from rfaK gene which is specific for Salmonella species. These were evaluated in a multiplex PCR assay by using DNAs which were isolated from 1 group A, 11 group B, 3 group C1, 2 group C2, 8 group D Salmonella strains, 4 non-group A-D Salmonella strains, and 9 non-Salmonella enteric pathogens. The multiplex PCR proved to be capable of identifying Salmonella serogroups A, B, C1, C2, and D and differentiating them from non-Salmonella enteric pathogens. Thus, this multiplex PCR assay can actually be applied to identify Salmonella serogroup A-D from clinical specimens.
