This study was conducted to develop an organic control of powdery mildews of cucumber by using mayonnaise in green house. The treatment of 0.1~2% mayonnaise resulted in 8.3%~99.2% control efficiencies against powdery mildew of cucumber. 0.5% mayonnaise treatment resulted control values over 97% in disease. It did not adversely affected the photosynthesis of foliages. Although one application of mayonnaise to the foliage was not practically effective enough, two or three application of mayonnaise to the foliage at the 0.5% concentration resulted in excellent control against powdery mildews. This treatment could provide protection for 10~14 days after application. Among the type of mayonnaise, general mayonnaise revealed 97.5% control value, but mayonnaise containing low oil content revealed 39.3%~97.5% control values on powdery mildews at the 0.5% concentration. Therefore, oil content in mayonnaise played a essential material to control powdery mildew. Results indicated that mayonnaise could be used as organic control of powdery mildews of cucumber. This control might be environmentfriendly as well as cost-effective.

LSA of the glans and prepuce of the penis is uncommon. It usually appears as whitish plaques and macules and can progress to orificial narrowing, phimosis and carcinoma. The case presented herein showed distinct papules and nodules on the glans and inner side of the prepuce instead of usual flattened patches. The patient, 24 years old man, was seen first seven months after his initial notice of the illness and has been observed by the authors four years thereafter. For the first year the papuloncdules on the glans were hard in consistence and the glans itself was being contracting, From the third year, the hard papulonodules began to resolve but resulted in greatly contracted glans penis. To observe the diagncsic histopathological finding repeated biopsies were needed.
발전소 수명연장을 위한 제어설비교체의 경제성 평가 : 사례연구

산업화과정에서 필요한 전력의 공급을 위해 많은 발전설비가 건설되었다. 그러나 이들 발전설비의 상당수가 지금은 노후화되어 전체 또는 일부분의 교체가 요구되고 있다. 신뢰성, 환경문제, 경제성 등 다양한 의사결정 기준이 이러한 설비교체 문제의 판단기준이 될 수 있다. 본 연구는 20년 가량 된 화력발전소의 신뢰도 향상을 위해 제어설비 교체를 고려하는 상황에서, 이러한 설비교체의 경제성을 평가하여 교체여부를 결정하고, 교체에 따른 경제적 효과를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 평가가 이루어지거나 이루어지고 있는 3개 발전소의 실제 사례를 토대로 경제성분석의 구조와 분석의 결과를 제시하고자 한다. 분석과정에서 전체설비가 아닌 부분설비를 대상으로 하기 때문에 제어설비 교체만의 경제적 효과를 측정하는데 유의하였으며, 인건비감소, 열효율개선에 따른 연료비절감, 유지/보수비의 변화, 신뢰도 향상에 따른 정지회피비용 등을 경제성 평가의 주요항목으로 삼았다. 이러한 경제성 평가의 구조와 결과는 앞으로 많은 발전설비의 전체 또는 부분교체가 예상되기 때문에 현실적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Background : Many investigators have found transforming growth factor-${\beta}1$ (TGF-${\beta}1$) to be elevated in tumors. Changes in responsiveness to TGF-${\beta}1$ have been linked to malignant transformation, tumor progression and tumor regression. Many malignant cell lines of epithelial or hematopoietic origin are refractory to the antiproliferative effects of TGF-${\beta}1$. However, a little is known about the association of TGF-${\beta}1$ with progression of malignant tumor. Methods : In this study, we measured the plasma level of TGF-${\beta}1$ in various cancer patients and evaluated the utility of plasma TGF-${\beta}1$ as a possible tumor marker. Plasma TGF-${\beta}1$ levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in cancer patients and normal controls. Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) as tumor marker were compared with TGF-${\beta}1$ in the aspects of sensitivity and specificity. Results : The mean of plasma TGF-${\beta}1$ levels was $1.219{\pm}0.834ng/ml$ in normal controls, $5.491{\pm}3.598ng/ml$ in breast cancer, $12.670{\pm}10.386ng/ml$ in lung cancer, $5.747{\pm}3.228ng/ml$ in hepatocellular carcinoma and $10.854{\pm}7.996ng/ml$ in cervical cancer. In comparison with CEA and AFP, TGF-${\beta}1$ is more sensitive. Conclusion : We conclude that the high levels of TGF-${\beta}1$ are common in the plasma of cancer patients. These results suggest that the plasma TGF-${\beta}1$ level can be a potent tumor marker in various cancer patients.

시판 마요네즈를 이용하여 오이 흰가루병에 대한 방제효과를 시험하였다. 마요네즈를 0.5~2% 농도로 물에 희석하여 흰가루병이 발병된 오이에 6일 간격 3회 처리했을 때 8.3~99.2% 방제효과를 나타내었다. 90% 이상의 방제효과를 보인 마요네즈 희석액 중 2-3엽의 어린모에서 약해가 없었던 농도는 0.5%이었다. 마요네즈 중 기름함량이 78~80% 수준인 일반 마요네즈와 기름함량을 38~70%로 줄인 저지방 마요네즈의 흰가루병 방제력을 비교했을때 저지방 마요네즈는 방제율은 39.3~59.8% 수준으로 일반마요네즈에 비해 방제율이 떨어졌다. 마요네즈가 처리된 잎의 엽록소 함량은 발병구에 비해 엽록소 함량이 약 3배 정도 높게 조사되어 처리된 마요네즈가 오이 잎의 광합성을 저해하지 않으면서 흰가루병을 효과적으로 방제함을 확인하였다. We developed a polyclonal antibody based-ELISA system to monitor inocula accurately and rapidly before onset of anthracnose on soybean sprouts. Titer of mouse antisera against conidia of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, determined by indirect ELISA, was high enough to be detectable up to x25,600 dilutions. Both PAb1 and PAb2 had the highest level of reactivity to Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Absorbance readings exceeded 0.15. Sensitivity of PAb to C. gloeosporioides was precise enough to detect spore concentration as low as 500 conidia/well by indirect ELISA. Both antibodies are very sensitive and highly specific to the target pathogen Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, apparently discriminating other unrelated pathogen, or epiphytes. This kit fulfills the requirements for detecting inocula before infection and onset of anthracnose. Our ELISA system should also be feasible to detect C. acutatum (Mungbean sprouts rot) and G. cingulata (C. gleosporioides), (apple, pepper). It was remarkable that absorbance value was not reduced even after 4 consecutive washings (Fig. 4), suggesting that antigenic determinants are on the surface of conidia. Antigenic determinant was characterized by heating and enzyme treatment: Both PAb1 and PAb2 bind to protein epitope that does not contain residue of amino acid, arginine, and lysine, even though more work needs to be done.
