Area Wide Calculation of Traffic Induced CO2 Emission in Seoul

To reduce emissions of Greenhouse Gas (GHGs) from automobiles, real on-road emission data should be required to help policy makers establish standards for reducing GHG emissions. Since general studies on calculating CO2 emissions from transportation sources have been based on petroleum consumption data, it has been difficult to analyze spatial activities and characteristics of transportation sources. In this study, we propose a method for calculating CO2 emissions from on-road transportation sources in Seoul. We focused on CO2 emission calculation by applying real traffic flow data and analyzed base emissions from the main roads and local streets. Because the emissions were calculated using a 1 km×1 km grid cell format, these data can be applied to other compatible transportation data sets for air pollution analysis, modal shift analysis, etc in the transportation sector.

This study has calculated the energy change amount and the pollutant reduction amount when converting the energy source being currently used for the buildings located at Gangnam-gu, Seoul into a fuel cell system, and analyzed the air pollutant emissions reduction effect due to a change in the building energy supply system in an urban living environment. As a result of analysis, based on the energy calorie, it could obtain an effect of 55.579 TOE/yr reduction compared to the sum of the existing fossil energy consumptions, and could reduce the filterable particulate matter emissions by 70,367 ton/yr and the condensable particulate matter by 711,520 ton/yr.
도시 주변 화학물질 배출사업장 관리방안 ; 대기분산을 중심으로

최근 국내 인구의 사망원인 중 신생물과 폐암과 같은 항목의 기여도가 높아지고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 올해부터 발효된 화평법 및 화관법과 관련된 사업장 배출 화학물질의 대기오염 관리방안 도출을 수행하였다. 연구결과, 사업장 배출 화학물질의 위해도는 사업장과 주거/상업지구와의 이격거리가 멀지 않아 대기분산 모델링을 활용하여 폭발, 누출 등의 비정상 조업에서의 배출량 뿐 아니라 대기방지 장치 후단에서 배출되는 상시 배출량에 대한 인체 위해도 등도 고려되어야 할 것으로 사료되었다.

In this study, amenity evaluation technique for indoor air quality in the underground space was developed and evaluated real-time amenity by utilizing real-time sensor monitoring system equipped with the technique. The factors used for amenity evaluation were PMV value, VOCs, illumination, PM₁0 and CO₂. The amenity value with 60 percent represents the environmental standards of subjected factors. Based on the field survey using the monitoring system developed under this study, the amenity values of CO₂ whose environmental standard is 1,000ppm were 97% for 400ppm and 26% for 1,100ppm, respectively. That of PM₁0 having 150㎍/㎥ as an environmental standard were 99% for 25㎍/㎥ and 80% for 100㎍/㎥. Evaluated amenity based on VOCs concentration at the subjected areas was in bad condition. And those for PM₁0 and CO₂ were dependant on the floating population. From the results of this study, the real-time sensor monitoring system installed with the amenity evaluation technique could be a practical tool to evaluate indoor air quality to manage air quality of underground spaces like subway station. New amenity assessment technique using a real-time sensor monitoring of indoor air quality as well as physical environmental properties was developed in this study. The concentrations of CO₂, PM₁0, VOCs were considered as new parameters to analyze the indoor air quality and they are included in an amenity assessment program of indoor area. We found that the new method is better to express the amenity degree of residents through field tests than conventional thermal comfort technique.
