This study was undertaken to understand the changes of hormones levels in Korean loach(Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) measured by ELIA at approximately March and May/`90. Sexual maturation was studied on 100 Korean loath females and 50 males. The results obtained in this study were as follows; 1. Serum LH, FSH, and estradiol-17β levels showed all significant increase in the female loath in March, and the highest peak in April in association with initiation of spawning, and abrupt decrease in Ma,, coinciding with the rapid numerical increase of mature oocytes. 2. In May, coinciding with the histologically mature stage, prolactin and thyroxine levels of the male were all higher than those of the female. 3. Correlation coefficients of serum LH with FSH and estradiol-17β were +0.979 and +0.829. respectively, in the female loath in May. 4. Correlation coefficients of serum prolactin with T₄ and T₃ were +0.765 and +0.99 in the female loath in May. 5. Correlation coefficient of serum LH with FSH was +0.959 in the male loath in May. 6. It is concluded from these observations that LH. FSH and estradiol-17β played an important part in sexual maturation of Korean loach(Misgurnus anguillicaudatus).

This study were taken to isolate albumin, globulin and transferrin fractions from the serum of tilapia spp., Tilapia mossambica, by physico-chemical analyses such as the classical salting-out, dialysis, electrophoretic method, ion-exchange chromatography and gel filtration chromatography. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows: 1. The albumin fraction is composed of several components possessing relatively higher electrophoretic mobilities and lower molecular sizes than the globulin components. 2. The molecular weight of albumin component was 89,000 and it possessed a BPB-binding ability. 3. None of the albumin components was found to fit completely the definition of mammalian serum albumin. 4. The molecular weight of the globulin components was more than 295,000. 5. The correlation coefficient of the albumin /globulin ratio by BCG and blood analyzer was +0.599. 6. The molecular weight of transferrin component was about 70,000. 7. Tilapia transferrin fractions were found to be polymorphic. 8. The male transferrin showed two strong bands, while the female transferrin showed a single weak band. 9. one of the two bands of male transferrin showed the same mobility with band of female transferrin. 10. If band above-mentioned had significant effect(p$lt;0.01) upon sex discrimination(about 97%, 31 out of 32 individuals).
틸라피아의 해수순치에 (海水馴致) 관한 생리학적 연구 Ⅳ. 광학현미경적 관찰

This study was taken to examine the light microscopic changes in gill, liver, kidney of female tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) after adapting in 0‰, 10‰, 20‰, and 30‰ salt concentrations, respectively. Gill chloride cell hyperplasia, gill lamellar epithelial separation, glomerular shrinkage, congestion in kidneys and deposition of hyalin droplets in kidney glomeruli, and tubules were observed in treated fished with saline. Incidence and severity of gill chloride cell hyperplasia and the number of chloride cells were rapidly enhanced with increasing the salinity. These results suggest to excrete sodium chloride and inorganic components accumulated in the body of a fish and to balance osmotic pressure with reference to progressive increase of osmolality. Also the increased number of gill chloride cell seemed to be to maintain homeostasis. However, the separation of the gill lamellar epithelium was severer in the higer saline water. In the seawater-adapted fish, the hepatic cells became somewhat enlarged and some round vacuoles appeared within the cytoplasm. Glormerular shrinkage was occurred higher in individuals in 10‰, 20‰, 30‰ seawater than in those in freshwater. Glomeruli appeared to contract in kidneys in 14 days following transfer of fish from freshwater to 10‰ seawater. The size of kidney glomeruli in individuals at 10‰, 20‰, and 30‰ saline showed smaller than that at 0% saline. These cytometrical changes may be related to the different osmoregulatory functions of euryhaline teleosts. Our findings demonstrated that tilapia tolerated moderately saline environment and the increased body weight with increasing salinity, regardless of histopathological changes.

This study was undertaken to understand the changes of development stages of ovary, testis and pituitary of Korean loach(Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) investigated by histological techniques from March to May/`90. Sexual maturation was studied on 100 Korean loach females and 50 males. The results obtained in this study were as follows: l. Gonadosomatic indices(GSI) increased abruptly from April to May. and showed the highest peak in May, coinciding with the numerical drastic increase of mature oocytes in female, and mature spermatozoa and spermatozoa in male, respectively. 2. The ratio of early perinucleolus oocytes, Stage l, was 13.67% and of ripe oocytes was 42.9% in May. 3. The vitellogenic phase began as these late perinucleolus oocytes became transformed into early maturing oocytes through the accumulation of yolk. 4. In pituitary gland in mature loach, ventral lobe occupied major area of gland. Ventral lobe was relatively larger than in sexually immature individuals. Ventral lobe consisted of irregular-shaped masses and columns of uniformly staining cells. Ventral lobe appeared to be more basophilic than acidophilic.

This study was taken to examine the ultrastructural changes of the gill and kidney of female tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) living in 0‰, 10‰, 20‰, and 30‰salt concentrations, respectively, by scanning and transmission electron microscope. The ultrastructure by scanning electron microscope (SEM) indicated that the gill secondary lamella of tilapia exposed to seawater, were characterized by rough convoluted surfaces during the adaptation. Transmission electron microscopy(TEM) indicated that mitochondria in chloride cells exposed to seawater, were both large and elongate and contained well-developed cristae. TEM also showed the increased chloride cells exposed to seawater. The presence of two mitochondria-rich cell types may regard to their pos-sible role in the hypoosmoregulatory changes during seawater-adaptation. The kidney tissues in freshwater-adapted tilapia contained most of small, circular mitochondria, and mitochondria had less electron-dense cy-toplasm. The ultrastructure by TEM indicated that the kidney tissues of tilapia exposed to seawater, were characterized by the increased mitochondria during the adaptation. TEM also indicated that mitochondria in kidney tissues exposed to seawater, were both spherical and elongate and contained well-developed cristae. The kidney tissues in seawater-adapted fish contained most of large, elliptic(elongate) mitochondria and mitochondria had more electron-dense cytoplasm.

무용제 타입의 hot melt계 중 styrene-isoprene-styrene(SIS) 블럭공중합체에 대한 tackifier resin의 상용성과 점탄성, 그에 영향을 미치는 점착물성에 관해 조사하였다. SIS블럭공중합체의 이소프렌상에서는 C^5 petroleum resin이 상용성이 우수하며, coumarone-indene resin은 전혀 상용성을 보이지 않았다. 그에 따른 점착력, 초기점착력, 견지력 등의 정착물성은 C^5 petroleum resin>rosin ester resin>coumarone-indene resin순으로 나타났으며, 고무상에서 상용성이 우수한 tackifier resin이 효과적임을 알았다. 한편, 이때의 저장탄성률(G`)에서, plateau modulus값이 1×10^6-3×10^6 dyn/㎠일 때 점착력이 가장 우수하였다. Compatibility and viscoelasticity in non-solvent type pressure sensitive adhesive of styrene-isoprene-styrene(SIS) block copolymer with tackifier resin were investigated. In the isoprene phase of SIS block copolymer, it was found that it`s compatibility with C^5 petroleum resin was good, but that with Coumarone-indene resin was not so good. The magnitudes of peel strength, tack, and holding power were as follows : C^5 petroleum resin>rosin ester resin>coumarone-indene resin. The tackifier resin with good compatibility in rubber phase was also effective. However, with plateau modulus value of 1×10^6-3×10^6 dyn/㎠, the effect of pressure sensitive adhesives was excellent.

This study was carried out to investigate correlationships between serum hormones such as LH, FSH, estradiol-17β and progesterone. and serum components (12 components) obtained from 120 of 3-year-old female rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). All data were collected and analysed monthly from March in 1989 to February in 1990. The results obtained in this study were as follows : The correlation between serum LH and BUN during spawning period was highly negative (r=-0.793), while the correlations of LH with creatinine and total protein were high (r=0.887 and 0.688. respectively). Similarly, the relationships of serum FSH with creatinine (r=0.831) and total protein (r=0.709) were significantly highly positive. The concentration of estradiol-17β was highly correlated with creatinine, total protein. and triglycerides. But the relation between serum progesterone and BUN was significantly negative (r=-0.606). Ultimately, three kinds of hormones such as LH, FSH, estradiol-17β in female rainbow trout, seemed to be correlated with serum components associated with vitellogenesis and oogenesis.

This study was undertaken to understand changes of hormone levels of rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss) measured by ELIA at approximately monthly intervals from October/`89 to February/`90. Sexual maturation was studied on 100 rainbow trout females. The results obtained in this study were as follows l. Under the normal light, serum LH levels were at the peak in November. 2. Under the normal and no light, serum FSH levels began to decrease progressively from October to February. 3. Serum estradiol-17β levels under the no light showed about 23 times higher than those under the normal light from January/`90 to February/`90. 4. Under the no light, serum progesterone levels showed at the peak in November. 5. Serum LH, FSH, estradiol-17β and progesterone levels began to decrease abruptly following hand stripping. 6. Serum LH had significantly different effects(p $lt;0.001) upon serum FSH and estradiol-17β. 7. Serum FSH had significantly different effects(p $lt;0.001) upon serum estradiol-17β. 8. Correlation coefficient of serum LH and FSH was +0.844. 9. Correlation coefficient of serum LH and estradiol-17β was +0.947. 10. Correlation coefficient of serum FSH and estradiol-17β was +0.894.
