I/Q 변조 풀이 방식의 헤테로다인 간섭계를 이용한 미소 전기장 및 복굴절 측정

편광유지 광섬유를 이용한 주파수가 안정화된, 두 개의 서로 수직으로 편광된 종모우드를 갖는 He-Ne레이저 빛을 LoTa $O_{3}$ 위상변조기로 구성된 센서부(sensor head)로 전달해 줌으로써 원격에서 전기장을 측정할 수 있는 hybrid, heterodyne 간섭식 센서를 구성하였다. In/quadrature-phase위상변조풀이 방식을 이용하여 전기광학 효과에 의해 서로 수직으로 편광된 두 모우드 사이에 유도된 위상차이를 측정함으로써 항상 높은 검지율을 유지할 수 있는 전기장 센서를 구성하고, 이를 이용하여 광학 물질에 유도된 복굴절도 측정을 할 수 있었다. A new hybrid, heterodyne, fiber-optic electric field sensor scheme is presented. In this scheme, a dual polarization, dual frequency, stabilized He-Ne laser is used for the light source of the interferometer, Probe beam is delivered to the sensor head using polarization maintaining fiber. In the sensor head, $LiTaO_3$ electro-optic crystal is used for sensing element. Phase retardation is induced on the dual frquency, dual polarization probe beam due to applied electric field across the crystal. Induced phase retardation is demodulated by in-phase and quadrature demodulation technique. In this way, we can obtain optimum sensitivity for electric field measurement regardless a quasi-static phase difference between two polarization components.
Tenosynovitis of the Hand Caused by Kosakonia cowanii After Being Pricked by a Beanstalk

A 77-year-old man with pain in his left hand after being pricked by a beanstalk visited an emergency center. Symptoms and laboratory findings suggested infectious tenosynovitis. Using the Bruker Biotyper (Bruker Daltonics, Germany), Kosakonia cowanii was identified in the swab culture and was confirmed by full-length 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and gyrB sequencing. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of K. cowanii infection in Korea. Performing only 16S rRNA sequencing was insufficient for accurate identification, and gyrB sequencing or using the Bruker Biotyper (Bruker Daltonics, Germany) confirmed the identification. A positive sorbitol fermentation test can indicate the microorganism to be K. cowanii even if the VITEK 2 system (bioMérieux, France) identifies it as Pantoea spp. Additionally, K. cowanii may be resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics, including cefazolin; therefore, it may be appropriate to use carbapenems, third- or fourth-generation cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Finally, antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) should be conducted using a reference method, and Etest AST is unreliable for K. cowanii, especially with beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitors.
두 종모드 레이저 빛 사이의 맥놀이 신호를 이용한 간섭계에 의한 유효 광학 두께 측정

서로 수직으로 편광되고 두개의 종모우드로 발진하는 주파수가 안정화된 He-Ne 레이저를 이용하여 넓은 측정 범위를 갖는 헤테로다인 간섭계를 구성하였다. 두 모우드 사이의 맥놀이 주파수인 684MHz에 대한 라디오 주파수 간섭을 이용하여 약 .+-.1.74.mu.m의 분해능으로 광학매질의 광학두께를 측정할 수 있는 장치를 구성하였다. 이와 같은 측정장치를 이용하여 Nd:YAG 레이저의 수동형 Q-스위칭에 포화흡수체로 사용되고 있는 유기염료 박막의 두께와 국부적인 광학두께의 변화에 대한 map을 구할 수 있었다. A wide dynamic range heterodyne interferometer scheme using intermode beat between a stabilized, dual frequency He-Ne laser beam has been applied for a measurement of optical thickness of an optical medium. Resolution of the optical thickness measurement is about $\pm$ 1.74 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Using this technique, we are able to determine the optical thickness of an organic dye film. We also obtain a map of the optical thickness variations over a surface of the film

Purpose: Fusobacterium species can cause infections, and associations with cancer are being increasingly reported. As their clinical significance differs, accurate identification of individual species is important. However, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ion-ization-time of flight mass spectrometry has not been found to be effective in identifying Fusobacterium species in previous studies. In this study, we aimed to improve the accuracy and efficacy of identifying Fusobacterium species in clinical laboratories. Materials and Methods: In total, 229 Fusobacterium isolates were included in this study. All isolates were identified at the species level based on nucleotide sequences of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene and/or DNA-dependent RNA polymerase β-subunit gene (rpoB). Where necessary, isolates were identified based on whole genome sequences. Among them, 47 isolates were used for updating the ASTA database, and 182 isolates were used for the validation of Fusobacterium spp. identification. Results: Fusobacterium isolates used for validation (182/182) were correctly identified at the genus level, and most (180/182) were correctly identified at the species level using the ASTA MicroIDSys system. Most of the F. nucleatum isolates (74/75) were correctly identified at the subspecies level. Conclusion: The updated ASTA MicroIDSys system can identify nine species of Fusobacterium and four subspecies of F. nucleatum in good agreement. This tool can be routinely used in clinical microbiology laboratories to identify Fusobacterium species and serve as a springboard for future research.
