대화식 저널 쓰기: 학습자중심 작문수업을 위한 사례 연구

본 연구는 “대화식 저널 쓰기(Dialogue journal writing)” 사례 연구로서 그 과정에서 작성된 저널의 주제 및 소재, 학습자와 교수자의 심리 및 태도에 관한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 서울 소재 4년제 대학교 학습자 14명과 영어 원어민 교수자 1명 사이에 한 학기(12주, 2017. 09. 12.~2017. 12. 05.) 동안 진행된 영어 대화식 저널 쓰기840편을 수집·분석하고(2017. 09. 12.~2018. 03. 30.), 참여자 인터뷰 및 설문조사를 학기 초(2017. 09. 12.), 학기 중(2017. 10. 17.), 학기 말(2017. 12. 05.) 3회 실시하였다. 결과로는 첫째, 저널의 주제와 소재를 Glesne(2016)를 참고하여 7개 영역으로 분류했을 때 빈도순으로 ① 개인적인 주제 및 내용, ② 격려 및 감정 표현, ③ 모국어 문화 반영, ④ 이름 사용, ⑤ 학문적 작문에 사용, ⑥ 영어 표현 및 문법 수정, ⑦ 그림을 통한 감정 표현 등이었다. 둘째, 학습자들은 저널 쓰기가 진행됨에 따라 긍정적인 감정으로 변화되었고, 교수자와 친밀해졌다고 느꼈으며, 유창성 측면에서 가장 도움이 된다고 생각했다. 셋째, 교수자는 학습자 개인에 대해 좀 더 알게 되었고, 유대감 이 강화되었고, 학습자의 유창성 증가에 도움이 되었다고 생각했다. 동기부여는 교수자의 고민이었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 시사점을 논의하였다. 학습자가 어떤 종류의 글을 쓰고, 어떤 생각을 하며, 어떻게 변화하는 지 등은 학습자중심 영어 쓰기 수업에 길잡이가 될 수 있을 것이다. This study is a case study of “dialogue journal writing.” It aimed to examine topics and contents and learners’ and a teacher’s feelings and attitudes during the dialogue journal writing process in Korean college students and their professor. For this study, 840 dialogue journals from 14 learners and a professor at a college in Seoul during the fall semester were collected and analyzed. The participants were interviewed and surveyed. The study was conducted as follows: first, dialogue journals were divided into seven topics and content parts of the coding system by Glesne(2016). They were sorted by frequency: ① personal topics and contents, ② personal encouragement and expressing one’s own feelings, ③ L1 (Korean) cultural background in contents, ④ using each other s names, ⑤ using academic writing, ⑥ asking for more L2 (English) expressions and grammatical corrections, and ⑦ using drawings to express emotion. Second, learners felt more confident with English writing and closer to their professor, and they thought that dialogue journal writing was helpful for their writing fluency. Third, the professor thought she could learn about her students better and felt closer to them and that the dialogue journal writing was helpful for students’ fluency. However, she was concerned about giving her students writing motivation. With these findings, educational implications are discussed. What learners write, what they think, and how they develop while writing dialogue journals could guide learner-centered English writing classes.

TV 토크쇼에서의 담화전략

TV 토크쇼에서 나타나는 진행자의 담화 전략 분석: 민감한 질문하기를 중심으로

Interactions in TV talk shows have some characteristics driven by bothsemi-institutional and institutional conversations. The former is the casethat TV talk shows seemingly follow conversations in daily routines. Forthe latter, the basic setting of a TV talk show assumes or assigns specificroles of host or guest to each participant. Unlike daily conversation,institutional discourse in mass media, especially for talk showconversations, has one ultimate goal: infotainment (Penz 1996:1). Interviewers or talk show hosts keep seeking information from guestsfor the sake of the audience’s and viewers’ entertainment. This paperfocuses on TV talk shows with celebrities as guests to observe what kindof strategies hosts implement in their questions to obtain information thatstimulates the curiosity of viewers and satisfies their interest in theprivate lives of celebrities. The results of the research reveal that hosts in TV talk shows utilizedifferent questioning strategies, which can be divided into four majorcategories: third-party reported speech, presuppositions, vagueexpressions and topic narrowing-down. By citing or quoting third-partyreported speech, the question initiated by a host is justified andneutralized. Presupposition and vague expression are both useful tools thatallow the host to initiate topics about sensitive issues while avoiding anydirect mention of the issue. Topic narrowing-down has an effect ofdistracting the guest from the intended topic and making a detour to thetopic. Hosts not only use one of these strategies to achieve the goals oftheir questions but also make questions more dynamic by employingdifferent types of strategies simultaneously.

스마트 홈플레이트 : 스트라이크 존 판단

본 연구에서는 키넥트와 아두이노 초음파센서를 이용하여 야구 경기 시 발생하는 센서 데이터를 획득하여 스트라이크 판단이 가능한 알고리즘 및 디바이스를 개발하였다. 개발된 디바이스는 야구 경기장 홈플레이트로 사용하며 스트라이크, 볼의 경우에 대해 판단하도록 하였다. 판단에는 스트라이크 존을 측정하기 위해 키넥트의 skeleton tracking 예제로 관절을 측정해 좌표를 알아내고 아두이노 초음파센서를 사용하여 스트라이크를 판단하도록 했다.

Effects of dental acid etchants in oral epithelial cells

Phosphoric acid (P.A.; 37%) can induce necrosis on the oral mucosa and cause the ulceration of periodontal tissue. However, most studies reported are clinical case studies, with few basic science studies on oral epithelial cells. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of dental acid etchants on oral epithelial cells. After treatment with dental acid etchants for the indicated periods (0 second, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, and 5 minutes), cell damage, including vacuoles, pyknosis, and karyolysis, was observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. The percentage of cell damage significantly increased after 10 seconds of etchant application. Furthermore, as the etchantapplied time increased from 10 seconds, 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay results showed that cell viability was significantly reduced. Dental acid etchants were diluted with distilled water at ratios of 1:2 (18.5% P.A.) to 1:10 (3.7% P.A.). After the application of 1:5 (7.4% P.A.) diluted etchants, cells were enlarged, with some cells showing nuclear injury, including pyknosis. When treated with 1:2 (18.5% P.A.) diluted etchants, karyorrhexis and vacuoles were observed. The percentage of damaged cells significantly increased after the application of 1:2 (18.5% P.A.) diluted etchants. Moreover, cell viability significantly decreased in cells treated with 1:5 (7.4% P.A.) and 1:2 (18.5% P.A.) diluted etchants. This study examined the effects of dental acid etchants on oral epithelial cells as a basic experimental study in vitro and demonstrated the risks of dental acid etchants. Therefore, dentists and dental hygienists should pay strict attention to the handling of acid etchants during restoration and orthodontic treatments.

단계별 해설과 실습예제기반 UML 자기 주도 학습을 지원하는 웹 애플리케이션

소프트웨어 개발 시 UML(Unified Modeling Language) 사용이 일반화되어 UML 학습에 대한 필요성이 커지고 있지만, UML을 체계적으로 학습할 수 있는 수단이 많지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존의 UML 교육 방식을 통합하여 웹 기반으로 단계별 해설을 보며 관련 예제를 즉각적으로 실습할 수 있는 자기 주도 학습 애플리케이션을 설계 및 구현하였다. 이를 통해 UML을 공부하고자 하는 누구나 쉽고 간편하게 UML을 학습하고 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스에 적용할 수 있게 하였다. 또한 사용자들에게 설문 조사 및 사용 후기 조사를 진행해 피드백을 받을 수 있도록 하였다. UML(Unified Modeling Language) is commonly used in software development, and the need for UML learning is increasing, but there are not many ways to systematically learn UML. In this paper, to solve these problems, we design and implement self-directed learning application, by integrating existing UML learning methods, which can see step-by-step instruction and immediately practice relevant examples in web. This allows anyone who wants to study UML to easily learn UML and apply it to the software development process. We also conducted surveys and reviews of users to receive feedback from users.
