Vol.9 No.2

Objectives : Many studies are being done in the method of experimental chuna science in China. The aim of this review is to understand and study the methods of experimental chuna science, focusing on the effects of chuna on circulatory system. Methods : We reviewed "實驗推拿學" and Chinese journals were searched using China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI). Korean journals were searched using 3 Korean web databases(OASIS, NDSL, RISS). Results : By experimental chuna science, effect of chuna on blood pressure, cardiovascular system, hemorheologic system, blood flow velocity, circulation and lymphatic system were proved. Conclusions : Experimental chuna science is necessary for improvement of chuna to a higher level. In Korea, not many experimental studies are being done, especially in chuna and it has very narrow target diseases. For this reason we need to learn and adapt the methods of experimental chuna science of China.

ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to contribute to developing questionnaire for pattern identification of chronic low back pain using delphi method. MethodsThe questionnaire which includes symptoms and signs of chronic low back pain is studied by delphi method. Seven experts of Korean medicine, especially of re-habilitation medicine participated in delphi examination. Delphi examination was carried out through evaluating and correcting the questionnaire by e-mail.ResultsBy the Delphi method and score evaluation, 20 items of the initial copy of ques-tionnaire are chosen for pattern identification of chronic low back pain.ConclusionsBy the delphic method among experts, a reference questionnaire for pat-tern identification of chronic low back pain was suggested. Further research is necessary for modification of questionnaire by statistics and certification by clinical trial research. (J Korean Med Rehab 2013;23(4):143-158)

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of the nutritional status and physique development degree with body mass index(BMI) in health checkup examinees of college students. Methods : A group of 1304 test subjects took their medical examination and their body composition, height, weight, blood pressure were measured and blood test was done. With these results we diagnosed obesity, and analysed relationship between obesity and percent body fat, basal metabolic rate, nutritive conditions, cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol, liver function, renal function and blood pressure. Results : 1. Obese people showed significantly increased total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein(LDL) triglyceride and significantly decreased high density lipoprotein(HDL) cholesterol. 2. Obese people showed significantly increased basal metabolic rate and skeletal muscle mass but showed significantly decreased percent skeletal muscle. 3. Development of upper body increased in obese people but development of trunk and lower body decreased in obese people. Conclusions : Obese people showed decreased percent skeletal muscle, liver function and increased cholesterol which indicates obesity can be considered to be a severe health risk.

안민윤 ( Min Youn Ahn ),이중재 ( Jung Jae Lee ),오현숙 ( Hyun Sook Oh ),임형호 ( Hyoung Ho Lim ) 한방재활의학과학회 2014 한방재활의학과학회지 Vol.24 No.4

ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of BMI (body mass in-dex), blood parameters and life pattern on KOQOL (Korean version of obesity-related qual-ity-of-life scale) in Health checkup examinees of college students.MethodsA group of 2992 test subjects took their medical examination. With their height and weight, we diagnosed obesity according to BMI. KOQOL was measured by survey conducted using self-report questionnaires, after excluding sexual life related question. We analysed relationship between KOQOL and BMI, blood parameters, life pattern using SPSS version 21.0.Results1. There were significant differences in KOQOL according to BMI, gender, creatinine. 2. Female showed higher KOQOL than male. 3. Normal weight group showed lowest KOQOL in male, but underweight group showed lowest KOQOL in female. 4. Group who had more than 6 breakfast, lunch and dinner each in a week showed significantly low-er KOQOL than that who didn``t.ConclusionsObesity has significant influence on quality of life, so therefore there is a need for correct weight perception in weight control program, and KOQOL can be used in evaluating patients mental and social health. Objectives The purpose of this review is to analyze domestic research trend of the ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament in Korean medicine. Methods We searched articles in Korean databases such as OASIS, RISS, NDSL and sorted the articles by journals, published year, institutions and research type. Results 9 suitable theses were reviewed. They were published between 2002 till 2011. Most of the theses were published in The Acupuncture, the journal of Korean Acupuncture & Moxibustion Medicine Society. There were 6 case reports, 2 case series and single disease review. Conclusions There were only 9 studies about the ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament in Korean medicine and most of them were case reports. To reinforce the evidence of effectiveness of Korean medicine, additional studies are required and well designed studies such as randomized controlled trials need to be carried out. Objectives: The objective of this study was to analyse the methods being used to control foodintake and physical activity in RCTs of human obesity. Methods: A total of 21 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were investigated. Nine of which weredomestic studies from “http://oasis.kiom.re.kr” and the other of which were foreign studies fromsystematic reviews of RCTs on herbal medicine for treatment of human obesity. Results: According to domestic studies, “low calorie diet” were recommended in five cases of thedomestic studies , “maintain current dietary habit” were recommended in two and no informationon diet was two. Considering the seven cases where the information on diet was available, patients’ food intake were checked at every visit in six cases. Only two cases among the six hadbeen dropped owing to the violation of dietary habit by patients. Exercises were prohibited in twocases, “maintain current level of phisical activity” were recommended in three cases and, from therest, no information was available. The level of physical activity were not strictly controlled by anymeans hence no drop out. According to foreign studies, “low calorie diet” were recommended intwo cases, “very low calorie diet (less than 700 kcal/day)” in one case, “maintain current dietaryhabit” in two cases, “do not eat fat” in two cases and no information was available in the rest fivecases. Exercises which concerns spending about 300 kcal/day was recommended in one case,“moderate exercise” were recommended in three cases, “maintain current level of physicalactivity” were recommended in three cases and no information available in the rest five cases. Conclusions: In order to improve the accuracy of RCT, for the dietary side, researchers shouldrecord patient food intake at every visit by means of 24-hour dietary recall methods. This can besupplemented by multiple choice survey that are designed to help patients to diagnosethemselves more accurately leading to less bias. For the exercise side, it is highly recommendedto confine the exercises to walking only so as to quantify the amount of physical activity moreeasily by using pedometer.
