        Analysing Transition of Women’s Travel Patterns in the Seoul Metropolitan Area - Using Household Travel Survey Data in the 2000s -

        The purpose of this study is to examine (1) the changes in women’s travel patterns and times and (2) women’s travel behaviour differentiated by their socio-demographic status. The main data for the analyses come from thee Household Travel Survey (HTS) for 2002-2010. This study compares behavioral differences between travel groups through t-test and ANOVA in addition to descriptive statistics as research methods. Those analyses are conducted in three perspectives: (1) understanding the economic and social trends in the 2000s that could have a relationship with women’s travel; (2) investigating various travel behaviours resulting from women’s personal and household characteristics; and (3) examining the relationship between place of residence and women’s travel. The analysis results suggest that there have been visible changes in women’s travel behaviour in terms of travel distance and time, while their accessibility ranges have not been expanded significantly. It appears that there is a clear difference between social classes in travel distance, time, and transportation mode. It is believed that this differentiation of female travel behavior is greatly influenced by the increasing socal change.

        유색미의 첨가량과 발효방법에 따른 증편의 품질특성

        This study was carried out to investigate the quality characteristics of Jeung-Pyun with respect to the addition ratio of pigmented rice and fermentation method. As the amount of pigmented rice was increased, the moisture content of the products added with yeast tended to increase more than those made in the traditional way. Regardless of fermentation method, L value and b value of Jeung-Pyun without pigmented rice were higher than those of Jeung-Pyun with pigmented rice, for which the values were significantly low. The samples with 5% or 10% pigmented rice had a high degree of expansion. The other samples showed no visible difference. The hardness, cohesiveness, springiness and chewiness tended to decrease. On the other hand, the adhesiveness was increased. In both fermentation methods, as the amount of pigmented rice was increased, the gelatinization degree was raised. In sensory evaluation, the characteristics of Jeung-Pyun with 30% pigmented rice were very poor, except for the characteristics on pore uniformity. The other samples and both fermentation methods were hardly different.

        고수온 스트레스에 반응하는 북방전복 (Haliotis discus hannai) 전사체 차등 발현 비교 분석

        The climate change causes the mass mortality of farmed fish and shellfish. Therefore, it is important to comprehend clearly the physical and molecular mechanisms of abalone under heat stress condition. In order to find genes involved in biological response to heat stress, we have performed sequencing of transcriptome in two different group of the pacific abalone (Haliotis discus hannai), the breeding line group and the general aquaculture group, after adaptive treatment (18°C → 20°C → 25°C → 30°C) or acute treatment (18°C → 30°C for 0.5hr, 1hr, 3hr or 6hr). Tissue-specific differential expression genes (DEGs) were identified with 52 genes in gonad, 28 in hemocytes, 36 in gills, 31 in muscle and 33 in mantle under different heat shock conditions. There was no significantly differentially expressed pattern of transcriptome in the tested tissues between two groups, except the DEGs from the gonad tissues. Among them, the expression patterns of the XBP1, OS9, VCP, SNRNP70, MGAT2, UBA5, DST, ST13, YOD1 and ERP44 genes in the gonad tissue of the breeding line group showed significant differences from those of all tissues in the general aquaculture group. The present study provides a foundation for understanding the molecular mechanism of heat stress tolerance in abalone. Further functional studies should be performed on the heat stress-related genes identified in this study, which can contribute to the molecular breeding for heat stress tolerance in abalone.

        의료분쟁 발생 현황 및 진료과목별 분쟁 특성 분석 - 2006년 한국소비자원 자료를 중심으로 -

        Despite continuous increase in medical disputes, open discussion by medical providers about problems of medical malpractices has been put under a taboo due to social recognition or legal and institutional obstacles, thus practical data of the scale, type, result, and solution of such medical malpractices during medical service are being accumulated to a very insufficient degree in Korea. Based on this background, this study was attempted to prevent similar forms of medical dispute from occurrence and provide fundamental data to prepare reasonable dispute resolution system by analyzing the current status of medical disputes and the trend. As study material, the dispute cases from major 5 medical departments of internal medicine, orthopedics, dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology, and plastic surgery were selected among the medical dispute cases which had been raised to KCA for relief of medical malpractices in a year of 2006.

        Density-functional-theory Study of Monatomic and Diatomic Vacancies on the Non-polar ZnO(10¯10) Surface

        We report density-functional-theory calculations on vacancies on the ZnO(10¯10) surface with theon-site Coulomb interaction correction. Zn and O vacancies and three different configurations ofZnO divacancies were examined considering all the possible charge states. Using the calculatedvacancy formation energies, we constructed the phase diagram by spanning the allowed range ofelectronic and ionic chemical potential. Differently from the bulk where the divacancy is not stabilizedat all, one configuration of surface divacancies can be stable in a certain region of the chemicalpotentials. Among all the stable vacancies, only the neutral and the singly negatively-chargedmonatomic Zn vacancies exhibit a finite magnetic moment of 1 μB, which implies that the surfaceZn vacancies may be responsible for the experimentally-observed room-temperature ferromagnetismin ZnO nanocrystals.

        홈트레이닝을 위한 스마트헬스시스템 설계 및 구현

        Fatigue is piled up on busy daily life and there is no time to exercise, and the amount of exercise is relatively decreased due to going to school and workplace by car or subway. On the other hand, modern people, who continue to eat a lot of food, need time to actively exercise themselves in order to maintain personal health. Particularly as the age of aging comes, attention to fitness and interest in health care are increasing, and interest in fitness is increasing. In the digital age, computerization and automation have reduced the labor force due to physical activity in the workplace, home, and the lives of modern people depend on various conveniences. Because of this, modern people's momentum is absolutely insufficient compared to the past. In this study, we proposed ‘a smart fitness system for home training’, which is easy, simple, systematic and effective exercise methods are summarized without receiving PT(personal training), and the general people who do not have enough knowledge about fitness can easily exercise. 바쁜 일상에 피로는 쌓여가고 운동할 시간은 없고, 자동차나 지하철을 이용한 통학 및 출퇴근으로 인하여 상대적으로 운동량이 적어지고 있다. 반면 많이 먹는 생활을 계속해 가는 현대인은 개인의 건강유지를 위해 스스로 적극적으로 운동하는 시간을 필요로 하게 되었다. 특히 고령화 시대에 접어들면서 웰빙에 대한 관심과 건강관리에 대한 욕구가 증가하면서 피트니스에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 디지털시대에 컴퓨터화 및 자동화에 의한 직장과 가정에서 신체활동에 의한 노동력을 격감시키고 있고 현대인들의 생활은 각종 편의장치에 의존하고 있다. 이로 인해 현대인의 운동량은 과거에 비해 절대적으로 부족한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 쉽고 간단하며 PT(personal training)를 받지 않아도 체계적이고 효과적인 운동법들을 정리하고, 피트니스에 대한 지식이 부족한 일반인들도 쉽게 운동할 수 있도록 하는 ‘홈트레이닝을 위한 스마트헬스시스템’을 제안하였다.

        북방전복 (Haliotis discus hannai) 에서 분리한 열충격인자 1 (HSF1) 유전자 동정 및 발현에 대한 연구

        The climate change causes the mass mortality of farmed fish and shellfish. In order to find genes involved in physiological response to temperature stress, we have performed sequencing of transcriptome in the pacific abalone (Haliotis discus hannai) after thermal stimulation. In the present study, we present a focused analysis on the heat shock factor 1(HSF1) which is rapidly induced to activate heat shock response (HSR) in host cells under thermal stress as a major transcriptional regulator of heat shock proteins (HSPs). The H. discus hannai HSF1 (HdhHSF1) cDNA contains an open reading frame of 1473 bp, encoding a protein of 490 aa. The deduced amino acid sequence of HdhHSF1 shared the high identity with sequences of the H. asinina (ABR15461.1, 81.6% identity) and H. diversicolor (AGN53400.1, 81.2% identity). The phylogenetic tree of HSF1 revealed that these proteins were divided into two clusters, one comprising vertebrate and mollusc proteins, and the other one containing insecta proteins. The qRT-PCR detected HdhHSF1 mRNA expressions in hemocyte and gill tissues examined. The mRNA expression of HdhHSF1 showed a significant increase at 20°C in gill and 30°C in hemocyte. The expression of HdhHSF1 increased significantly after thermal stress of 6 h in gill, and also increased significantly in hemocyte at 30°C. The present study is the first to report on the molecular cloning, characterization and tissue expression analysis of HSF1 in H. discus hannai. The results might provide new insights into the regulation of HSR in mollusca.

        북방 전복 (Haliotis discus hannai) 에서 분리한 항균 펩타이드 LGBP의 생체 내 독성 평가

        Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) constitute important components of the innate immunity, protecting the host against infections. A synthetic antimicrobial peptide was identified as a possible candidate for the development of a new antibacterial drug. We previously developed novel AMPs derived from a lipopolysaccharide- and ß-1, 3-glucan-binding protein (LGBP) of the pacific abalone Haliotis discus hannai (HDH) particularly showing antimicrobial against bacteria and fungi and antitumor activities against several cancer cells.To evaluate in-vivo toxicity of AMPs is an essential step to ensure it safe use in drugs and foods. In the present study, we have investigated to evaluate in-vivo toxicity of HDH-LGBP in mouse when orally administered to both sexes of ICR mice (10 males and 10 females in each group) at dose of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg/day for 14 days. Individual food/ water consumption and body weight changes were measured daily. The group treated with HDH-LGBP didn’t show any histological change in the kidney and liver. Statistically significant decreases of food consumption, serum creatinine and platelet were found in 200 mg HDH-LGBP-treated groups when compared to their respective controls. It was considered to be caused by stress and peptide gelation. Male and female mice did not show effects body weight, food consumption, organ weights, hematology, serum chemistry, urinalysis or microscopic pathology. Therefore, the no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) for HDH-LGBP was concluded to be a 200 mg/kg/day. These results corroborate the potential of this novel AMP (HDH-LGBP) as an alternative food preservative or multifunctional drug.
