In this study, a new, relatively simple fabrication method for forming a mesoporous $Al(OH)_3$ film on Al substrates was demonstrated. This method, i.e., alkali surface modification, was simply comprised of dipping the substrate in a $5\times10^{-3}$ M NaOH solution at $80^{\circ}C$ for one minute and then immersing it in boiling water for 30 minutes. After alkali surface modification, a mesoporous $Al(OH)_3$ film was formed on the Al substrate, and its chemical state and crystal structure were confirmed by XPS and TEM. According to the results of the XPS analysis, the flake-like morphology after the alkali surface modification was mainly composed of $Al(OH)_3$, with a small amount of $Al_2O_3$. The mesoporous $Al(OH)_3$ layer was composed of three regions: an amorphousrich region, a region of mixed amorphous and crystal domains, and a crystalline-rich region near the $Al(OH)_3$ layer surface. It was confirmed that the stabilization process in the alkali surface modification strongly influenced the crystallization of the mesoporous $Al(OH)_3$ layer.

To improve the filtration efficiency of porous materials used in filters, an extensive specific surface area is required to serve as a site for adsorption of impurities. In this paper, a method for creating a hybridized porous alloy using a powder metallurgical technique to build macropores in an Al-4 wt.% Cu alloy and subsequent surface modification for a microporous surface with a considerably increased specific surface area is suggested. The macropore structure was controlled by granulation, compacting pressure, and sintering; the micropore structure was obtained by a surface modification using a dilute NaOH solution. The specific surface area of surface-modified specimen increased about 10 times compare to as-sintered specimen that comprised of the macropore structure. Also, the surface-modified specimens showed a remarkable increase in micropores larger than 10 nm. Such a hybridized porous structure has potential for application in water and air purification filters, as well as membrane pre-treatment and catalysis.

We report a case of acute myeloid leukemia with multilineage dysplasia accompanying malignant pleural effusion. A 73 year-old male patient was admitted complaining of febrile sensations and right chest pain. The cytology of the pleural fluid revealed malignant pleural effusion showing many blasts, which had previously been identified in his bone marrow when he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia with multilineage dysplasia two months earlier. His age and poor general condition had precluded chemotherapy with the exception of hydroxyurea and conservative treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to the disease 4.5 months after diagnosis. This case highlights the importance of determining if the pleural effusion of acute leukemia is malignant or not because it can suggest a pleural metastasis and influence the prognosis.
만성적 정신분열병 또는 분열정동장애를 가진 입원환자에서 Aripiprazole와 Haloperidol의 치료효과 및 안정성 비교 : 16주간의 임상적 연구의 결과

1) 16주간 elozarpipira과 direpolah이을 사용한 군에서 나온 PANSS 점수를 보면 두 약물군 모두에서 효과를 보였다. 양성 증상에서는 두 군에서 차이를 보이지 않았으나 음성 증상, 일반 증상 그리고 총점에서는 모두 aripiprazole 군에서 더 나은 치료효과를 보였는데 이 중 음성 증상만이 통계적으로 의미있는 차이가 있었다. 2) 대사 증후군과 관련된 수치들을 살펴보면 체중, 허리둘레, 혈압에서는 두 군 사이에 차이가 없었으나 총 콜레스테롤에서는 aripiprazole 군이 haloperidol군에 비해 의미있는 감소를 보였으나 고밀도 콜레스테롤은 두 군 모두 감소하였다. 앞으로 만성 정신분열병 환자에서 대사증후군 발생에 대한 일관된 결과를 얻기 위해서는 좀 더 장기적인 연구와 관찰이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 3) 혈중 프로락틴의 경우 aripiprazole이 haloperidol에 비해 통계학적으로도 의미있는 감소를 보였다. Objectives: The authors compared the efficacy and safety between aripiprazole and haloperidol in the treatment of patients with chronic schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Methods: This study was conducted in December, 2004 through April, 2007. We selected the subjects who were admitted to psychiatric clinic due to chronic schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder as defined by DSM-Ⅳ criteria. The assessment of clinical symptoms was evaluated with PANSS before taking the drugs and every two weeks afterwards. The standard laboratory tests were also performed. The prolactin level was evaluated in every 4 weeks Results: Total of 72 subjects were assigned either aripiprazole(N=33) or haloperidol(N=39) according to the admission order. There were no statistically significant differences on demographic variables. After 16-week study was completed, there were no statistically significant differences in positive, general and total score in PANSS except negative symptom. There were no significant differences among the variables related to metabolic syn?drome except serum glucose and HDL cholesterol level between two groups. However, there was a significant difference in serum prolactin level. Conclusion: In the end, aripiprazole was generally good choice of treatment with less side effects, better tolerability than haloperidol. One, aripiprazole showed more improvements in negative, general and total PANSS subscales with no statistical significances except negative PANSS score. The other, the variables related to the metabolic syndrome need a further evaluation. And the last, aripiprazole yields more favorable serum prolactin level than haloperidol.

And significant reduction was observed at the concentration of IFN-y 1000 IU/ml in healthy individuals. 3) In case of allergic asmatics, the IgE levels in supernatants of 6days' PBMCs culture with IFN-Υ were significantly lower than those of spontaneous culture. 4) The IgE levels in supernatants of 6 days PBMCs culture with PHA and INF-Υ were significantly higher than those of IFN-Υ only. Conclustion: In asymptomatic patients with allergic asthma, culture of PBMCs with IFN-Υ showed dosedependent reduction. in IgE production and FcεRII expression. These findings may suggest that IFN-Υ is deeply involved in both IgE production and FceRII expression of PBMCs.

Mo nanopowder was synthesized by ball-milling and subsequent hydrogen-reduction of $MoO_3$ powder. To fabricate ultra fine grained molybdenum, two-step sintering and spark plasma sintering process were employed. The grain size of specimen by two-step sintering and spark plasma sintering was around $0.6\;{\mu}m$ and $0.4\;{\mu}m$, respectively. Mechanical properties of ultra fine grained Mo with relative density of above 90% were significantly improved at room and high temperatures comparing to commercial bulk Mo of 99% relative density. This result was mainly explained by the grain size refinement due to diffusion-controlled sintering.

Short-term high temperature degradation test was conducted on Hastelloy X, a candidate tube material for high temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR), to evaluate the variation of microstructure and mechanical property in air at $1050^{\circ}C$ during 2000 h. The dominant oxide layer was Cr-oxide and a very shallow Cr-depleted region was observed below the oxide layer. At the beginning of degradation, the island shape $M_6C$ precipitate (M=Mo-rich, Fe, Ni, Cr) was observed in matrix region. After 2000 h degradation, precipitate shape was changed to the chain shape and increased amount of precipitate. These results influenced mechanical property of the specimen which exposed in high temperature. Yield strength was decreased from 115MPa to 89 MPa after 24 h and 2000 h exposure, respectively.

Aging characteristics and mechanical properties of commercial 7xxx series Al composites were investigated from viewpoint of ceramic contents. After sintering process, sintered densities of blended and composite powder were 95 and 97%, respectively. Each part was solution-treated at $475^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and aged $175^{\circ}C$. And two-step aging was also performed form $120^{\circ}C$ to $175^{\circ}C$. The aging behavior of the sintered composite pow-der was different from that of sintered blended powder. The peak aging time of the composite was rapid as well due to strain. Before aging, mechanical properties of sintered composite powder was significantly higher than that of sintered blended powder. These increments of properties were directly affected by ceramic particles. However, after aging, incremental rate of mechanical properties was slowed in the composite.
