A Study on the Market of Imported Medical Devices in Myanmar

The medical-device market of Myanmar in the recent Asian region iswhere the influences of Thailand, China, India and Singapore are beingshown considerably with the lift-up of economic sanctions by America andthe West. However, although the global capital and liberalization havewidened the openness and the international concerns, the relative Myanmar’smedical environment demands an active assistance and improvement. Thestudy, recognizing the importance of Medical-Devices and their marketconditions emerging as key business for knowledge-based industry, aims toobtain consequential meaningful suggestions, pursuant to relativeexport-concentration and sustainable market growth of Medical Devices, byanalyzing inter-nation trade intensity for key Medical Device items. To doso, this study selected 8 nations in total by reviewing three points: coreMedicine-advanced countries, geographically adjacent countries to Myanmar,and relative export-concentration.

ASEAN지역의 IT 산업은 우리에게도 지역내 IT 시장에서의 새로운 기회를 가져다 줄 것으로 기대된다. 이에 따라 우리는 새로운 기회를 새로운 도약으로 이어갈 수 있도록 우리나라 IT 산업의 경쟁력을 제고하여야 한다. 이를 위해 우리는 우리나라 IT 산업을 지역내 국가들에게 효과적으로 홍보하고, ASEAN IT 산업의 표준을 선도하고, 지역내 국가들과의 IT 산업관련 R & D 및 생산에서의 협력을 강화함은 물론 후발국가들의 도전을 슬기롭게 극복할 수 있어야 하겠다. 이에 본고에서는, 한국에 있어 ASEAN 시장의 중요성을 인식하고 한 ·일 ·미와 ASEAN간 정보통신산업에 있어서의 시장흐름과 무역간의 결합도를 알아보고, 주요 정보통신산업의 새로운 투자유망지역으로 떠오르고 있는 ASEAN 지역의 투자현황을 살펴보고 양지역간의 경제적 협력을 제시해 보는데에 목적을 두고자 한다. In Korea's point of view the ASEAN is geographically located near to Korea's peninsula and can supply Korea with IT products safely, it is also a significant market that we can effectively export IT products. This study analyzes ASEAN as a strategic market, by enlarging thee IT export and import, Korea's IT market excessively leaning upon the United States and Japan's market, so ASEAN is the proper market to which we can drive multilateral trade of IT market and multikinded trade of goods. In order to enhance exports of various IT products, we have to retain a good reputation and to remove revolting factors. Also, the marketing of Korea's IT export against ASEAN have to reinforce and to activate the direct investment, plant exports, and loan credit. Therefore, this study reviews Korea's IT Industry analysis to ASEAN, and finally we suggest the way to solve the main problems.

21세기 디지털비디오 시장의 장을 연 DVD는 무한한 가치를 지닌 잠재력이 높은 기술이며 그로 인해 파생되는 다양한 제품들은 향후 디지털 정보가전시장에서 우위를 점하리라 예상된다. 이에 본 고에서는 DVD에 대한 종합적인 평가와 더불어 국내외의 시장상황을 살펴보았다. 또한, 현존하는 DVD 시장의 문제점과 DVD와 관련해 특허풀을 이루고 있는 DVD 포럼에 대해서도 조사하였다.

The Shift from traditional PSTN circuit-switched voice networks to packet-switched data networks by using Internet Protocol(IP) technology will bring a fundamental change in the telecommunications networks. IP Telephony is a telephony service for transmission of voice and data over packet-switched IP-based networks. Many countries are currently reviewing their existing telecommunication policy and regulations for introducing IP Telephony services. These reviewing are done through three aspects; technology, economical and regulation. From the technological aspect, an overall communication platform for introducing IP network, from economical aspect, reduction of communication fee needs, from regulatory aspect, current telecommunication policy and regulation are being reviewed. Thus, this study examine the technology standards and market impact of IP Telephony around the world and its raising regulatory and policy issues of IP Telephony for Korea and some major countries and suggests directions for the issues. 통신망에서 현재 큰 변화가운데 하나는 전통적인 PSTN 회선교환 음성망에서 IP기술을 이용한 패킷교환 데이터망으로의 전환이다. 즉, IP Telephony는 인터넷을 통한 패킷교환방식에 의한 음성 및 데이터를 전송하는 서비스로서 IP 네트워크를 통한 Telephony 서비스이다. 세계 각국은 통신기술의 발전에 따라 IP Telephony 시장도입에 있어 현재의 통신정책이나 규제를 재검토하는 과정중에 있다. 기술적으로는 IP 네트워크를 통한 종합적인 통신플랫폼을 이루고, 경제적으로는 통신요금 인하, 규제면에서는 기존 통신규제의 재검토를 목표로 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 IP Telephony의 정책과 규제측면에서 한국과 주요 국가의 IP Telephony 규제상황 및 정책방향을 살펴보고 향후 추진해야될 과제들을 제시하고자 한다.

Telecommunication industry considered as the core one in the 21st century has been shaking after dot-com's collapse and global economy's worse. The rapidly growing mobile operators and tools manufactures show thousands of hundred millions' decline in the Under this situation Each Government and Company is struggling with alternatives which overcome the crisis and its level strategically in the telecommunication industry. In order to prevent mobile phone and wireless high speed Internet services from being in saturation soon, new provision is to needed in the existing telecommunication industry in Korea, and the government should do their best for policy making to maximize customer's profit and operator's competitive power against the criticism on policy misrule and competition for competition principle occurring in advanced countries recently. Merger and acquisition(M&A) was popular over all the world not only in telecommunication industry but also among inter industries while telecommunication business was booming mainly in internet and mobile sector until 1999, but there have been some sings that the telecommunication industry has been heading for a downturn in US and Europe when Internet bubble has bursts since 2000. In 2001 telecommunication depression was expedited universally and this caused to reduce tool operators due to rapid curtailment of facility investment and shrink of solid domestic call operators. The numbers of M&A increased a lot in 2001 compared in 1999, especially in IT. M&A has been increasing in telecommunication service market recently. Therefore, this study is to analyze characteristics of telecommunication service operators in the market in US, Japan and Korea, and research into crisis situation in main telecommunication operators abroad and implication M&A occurring in the telecommunication service market, and find political implication which affects domestic telecommunication industry through cause and direction of solution for this crisis situation.

Analysis on international trade flow of medical devices in Korea, China, and Japan

본 연구는 2국간 의료기기무역흐름(international trade flow)에 관한 무역결합도이론(Intensity Approach)을 통해 우리나라의 의료기기수출구조(export structure)와 중국과 일본의 수입구조(import structure)를 상호유기적으로 연계시킴으로써 한 중 일 의료기기 무역의 흐름을 보다 이론적이고 체계적으로 분석하였다. 또한, 우리의 대중국과 일본의 의료기기 수출증대(boost exports)에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는데 의의가 있다. 이에 본고에서는 한국과 의료기기(medical device) 시장에서 주요한 경쟁관계에 있는 중국과 일본의료기기 시장의 중요성을 인식하고 특별히 의료기기의 한 중 일 무역현황(situation of trade)을 살펴본다. 이어서 삼국의 의료기기에 있어서 상대적인 시장흐름(market stream)과 주요 의료기기 품목의 무역결합도(trade intensity)를 알아보고, 한 중 일 의료기기 시장의 지속적인 성장방안을 찾고자 한다. This study has analyzed the international trade flow of medical devices in Korea, China, and Japan more theoretically and systematically through a mutual connection of the medical device export structure of Korea and the import structure of China and Japan organically, with an intensity approach on the bilateral international trade flow. Also, it is meaningful to find a solution to boost exports of Korea to China and Japan. Therefore in this study, we recognize the importance of the medical device market in China and Japan, which is the main competition for Korea and its market, and look into the trade situation of these three countries. We also look into the relative market stream and the trade intensity of the main medical devices in Korea, China and Japan, and seek measures for the steady growth of the medical device market in these three countries.
