In cold forging of piston-pin for automobile parts, the flow defect appears by the dead metal zone. This appearance evidently happens in products with a thin piercing thickness for the dimension accuracy and the decrease of material loss. The best method that can prevent flow defect is removing dead metal zone. The purpose of this study is to investigate the material flow behavior of forward-backward extruded piston-pin through the relative velocity ratio and the stroke control of upper moving punch & container using the flow control forming technique. The finite element simulations are applied to analyse the flow defect, then the results are compared with the plasticine model material experiments. The model experiment results are in good agreement with the FE simulation ones.
Effects of High Concentration CO2 Treatment on the Blackening and Quality Changes of Cut Cabbage

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of high concentration CO2 treatment on the blackening and quality changes of cut cabbage. Cut cabbages were exposed to air (control), 30, 60, and 90% CO2, for 9 h at 13℃, and then stored for 3 days at room temperature (27±4℃). PPO activity was lower in the cut cabbages treated with CO2 than in the control. Total phenolics concentration decreased slowly in the cut cabbages as PPO activity was inhibited by CO2. Fastened blackening occurred in the control during storage, and there was positive relationship between blackening index and PPO activity. Higher respiration rates and ethylene production induced by high CO2 treatment were rapidly restored to the initial levels as storage period was extended. In contrast, production of ethylene increased constantly up to the second day of storage in the control with decay. At the end of storage, total sugar concentrations were lowest in 90% CO2, while weight loss and ascorbic acid contents were not significantly different among the treatments.

The Titanium has many superior characteristics which are specific strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, organism compatibility, non-magnetic and etc. and their quantity are abundant. this study performed turning operation of Ti-6Al-4V alloy using the TiAlN Coated Tool which treated Physical Vapor Deposition. Experimental works are also executed to measure cutting force, tool wear, chip figuration and surface roughness for different cutting conditions. As a result of study. Cutting depth influences on the cutting force much more than the feed rate and the value of the cutting force is the most stable at the depth of 1.0mm. And tool wear was serious at over 100m/min of cutting speed and cutting condition was excellent at 1.0mm of cutting depth.

During the cold forming, due to high working pressure acting on the die surface, failure mechanics must be considered before die design. One of the main reasons of die failure in industrial application of metal forming technologies is wear. The mechanisms of wear are consisted of adhesion, abrasion, erosion and so on. Die wear affects the tolerances of formed parts, metal flow, and costs of process. The only way to control these failures is to develop a prediction method on die wear suitable in the design state in order to optimize the process. The wear system is used to analyse 'operating variables' and 'system structure'. In this study, with AISI D2, AISI 1020, AISI 304SS materials, a series of the wear experiments of pin-on-disk type to obtain the wear coefficients from Archard's wear model and the upsetting processes are carried out to observe the wear phenomenon during the cold forming process. The analysis of upsetting processes are performed by the rigid-plastic finite element method. The result of the analysis is used to investigate the die wear the processes, and the analysis simulated die wear profiles are compared with the experimental measured die wear profiles.

Composite materials are widely used to make all kinds of machine parts, internal and structural materials of cars, aerospace industries, building structures, ship materials, sporting goods and others. It is worth the while to use composite materials as various substitutions when compared With others. But the use is limited in the field of the mechanical processing because of its difficulties in cutting. The surface roughness of in and out in the hole processing was discussed after cutting the GFRP with HSS drill in the vertical machining center. And it is observed that as it processed more, the powdered chip may be got more than the fluid type long chip.
선삭가공시 Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 절삭특성에 관한 연구

Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) has two power sources, one is an internal combustion engine, the other one is an electric motor, and HEV is developed for reducing fuel consumption and emission. The main driving strategy of HEV is start & stop mode and boosting & regeneration mode done by electric motor. Therefore, the effect for fuel consumption by engine start & stop function should be evaluated and optimized in HEV. This paper introduces mild type Diesel HEV and evaluation results of engine start algorithm by electric motor. In addition that, this paper evaluates the contribution of fuel consumption by engine start & stop function based on test results in chassis dynamometer by FTP mode.
감자 큐어링 후 저장고 형태 및 포장방법이 품질변화에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 큐어링 처리 후 저장고 형태 (반지하저장고 및 개량형저장고) 및 포장방법 (PP대 및 P박스)이 저장중인 감자의 품질 및 손실에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 실시하였다. 총당 함량은 반지하 저장고에서는 저장 4주째 약 1%로 비교적 낮았으나 이후 약 4%까지 급격히 상승한 반면, 개량형 저장고에서는 저장 4주째 3% 내외에서 1% 정도소폭 상승하였다. 그러나 큐어링 처리 및 포장방법에 따른차이는 보이지 않았다. 경도는 저장고형태 및 포장방법 간의 차이는 유사하였지만, 무처리구에 비해 큐어링 처리구에서 저장기간 동안 높게 잘 유지되었다. 감자 내부의 Hunter ‘L’ 값은 저장고 형태 및 포장방법에 따라 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 중량감소는 반지하 저장고에서 개량형 저장고에 비해 높았고, 반지하 저장고의 경우 큐어링 처리구에서 무처리구보다 그리고 P박스보다는 PP대 처리구에서 수분손실이 적게 나타났다. 한편, 개량형 저장고의 경우에도 PP대 포장 처리구에서 수분손실이 낮았으나 큐어링 실시 여부에 따른 차이는 보이지 않았다. 부패율은 반지하 저장고에 비해 개량형 저장고에서 현저히 낮았고, 큐어링 처리 및 P박스에서 부패율이 낮았다. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of warehouse types (semi-underground warehouse and improved warehouse) and packaging methods (PP-bag and P-container) on the quality in potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L) during storage period. Total sugar contents were approximately 1% after 4 weeks in the semi-underground warehouse, and sharply increased by 4% after 20 weeks. However, those in the improved warehouse were about 3% after 4 weeks, and did not show conspicuous change for storage. On the other hand, a curing treatment and packaging methods had no influence on the total sugar contents. The hardness was higher in the curing treatment than in the control, but there was no difference in the warehouse types and packaging methods. The weight loss was significantly higher in the semi-underground warehouse than in the improved warehouse. On the other hand, it in the semi-underground warehouse was somewhat higher in the control and the P-container than in the curing treatment and the PP-bag, respectively. Also, it in the improved warehouse was rather high in the P-container, but it was not influenced by curing treatment. The decay rate in the improved warehouse was remarkably lower than in the semi-underground warehouse, and it was also low in the curing treatment and P-container when compared to the control and PP-bag. Accordingly, wound-healed potatoes must be packaged with P-container and stored in the improved warehouse to maintain quality of potatoes for storage.
