Fluorine is a natural element found at varying concentrations in all drinking water and in soil. It is considered a beneficial nutrient and is present in trace in the body, When consumed in optimal amounts in water and food and used topically in toothpaste, rinses, and office treatments, fluoride reduces the risk and prevalence of dental caries and help promote enamel remineralization throughout life. Fluoride is absorbed in intestine and excreted via the kidney. Water fluoridation is to maintain optimal fluoride concentration of water to prevent dental caries. Recently water fluoridation is in practice in many cities in Korea. This study was undertaken to estimate the total intake of fluoride of residents drinking fluoride-poor water and fluoridated water. The 24-hours urine samples was collected from 2-10-year-old children and 25-35-year-old men. The analyses were performed potentiometrically using a fluoride-specific electrode. The volume of 24-hours urine was measured, the urinary fluoride concentration was determined and the amount of urinary fluoride excretion was calculated. The amount of urinary fluoride excretion was compared statistically and the intake of fluoride was estimated. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The mean 24-hours urinary fluoride excretion of subjects drinking fluoridated water was shown to be significantly higher(p<0.05) than that of subjects drinking fluoride-poor water, both children and men. 2. Total daily intake amounts of fluoride of adult drinking fluoridated water and fluoride-poor water are estimated 1.9-2.8㎎ and 0.9-1.3㎎, respectively. 3. Total daily intake amounts of fluoride of children drinking fluoridated water and fluoride-poor water are estimated 0.063㎎/㎏ and 0.043㎎/㎏, respectively. 4. Total daily intake amounts of fluoride of residents drinking fluoridated water dose not exceed optimal range, and that of residents drinking fluoride-poor water is under optimal range. So, it was concluded that water fluoridation should be recommended at non-fluoridated area in Korea.
Performance of a digital PN Sequence Acquisition System

본 논문에서는 direct sequence(DS) 방식을 이용한 spread spectrum system에 사용할 수 있는 빠른 초기 동기 방법을 제안하였다. 수식적인 모델을 세우고 해석을 한 후 computer simulation을 거쳐 제안된 system의 성능을 분석하여 sliding correlator에 비해 우수함을 입증하였다. 입력 신호의 signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)가 -18dB에서 초기 동기 시간이 45ms 소요되었다. 이 방법의 hardsware 구현과 실험 결과도 설명하였다. A fast pseudo-noise (PN) sequence acquisition algorithm for the direct-sequence (DS) spread spectrum system is proposed. The basic concept of the algorithm has been adopted from that of the classical sliding correlator. Mathematical modeling, analysis and computer simulation of the proposed system have been done. The results of analysis and computer simulation show that the acquisition system yields a significant performance improvement over the sliding correlator. Its acquisition time takes only 45 ms when signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is -18dB. The algorithm developed has been implemented in hardware and its experimental result is also given.
농업과 축산 활동에 기인한 미세먼지 배출량 산정 시스템 개발

미세먼지에 대한 국가적 문제인식으로 대기오염관리를 위한 대기환경 개선 대책들이 시행되어, 미세먼지(PM10)의 국내 배출량은 감소추세에 있는 반면, 2차생성 미세먼지 발생량 비중이 높은 초미세먼지(PM2.5)의 농도는 개선되지 않는 상황이다. 암모니아는 황산암모늄, 질산암모늄 등의 2차 대기오염물질을 생성하는데, 생성되는 대부분은 PM2.5 이하의 미세입자로서 시정거리 감소의 주요 원인물질 중 하나이다. 현재 농업 · 축산 부문과 관련된 국내 암모니아, 비산먼지 등의 활동도 자료의 통계 및 공간자료 정보가 불충분하여 현황파악이 어려운 실정이며, 농 · 축산 분야활동자료와 배출계수 개선 및 이에 대한 GIS 기반의 DB 구축을 통한 배출량 산정이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 농 · 축산 활동 부문의 DB(GIS DB 포함) 설계 및 구축, DB 플랫폼 구축, 시각화 시스템 개발로 추진하였다. 플랫폼 시스템은 DB를 구축하고 관리하는 기능과 배출계수와 배출량 등을 조회 · 검색하는 시각화 시스템으로 구성되었다. DB 관리 시스템은 배출원을 선정 후 활동도 파일 선택, 시군구 배출량 산정 실행, 읍면동 공간배분 실행, GIS DB의 구축 프로세스로 진행된다. 시각화 시스템은 농업과 축산 분야, 지역 등을 선택하여 배출계수와 활동도, 배출량 등을 조회 · 검색을 하는 기능으로 구성되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 농 · 축산 분야 국내 미세먼지 배출량 산정과 배출 원인물질 및 주요배출지역 관리에 대한 대기정책에 기여하는 플랫폼으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 사료되며, 지속적인 활동도 자료의 고도화가 선행되어야 할 것이다.
사매가 수종(數種)의 암세포(癌細胞)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objectives: The aim of the experiment is to identify any anti-tumor effects of Duchesnea indica(Andr.) Focke on stomach, liver, urinary bladder, prostate and kidney cancer cells. Materials & Methods: For cancer cells, AGS stomach, Hep3B and Hep3G2 liver, HT-1197, HT-1376 urinary bladder, PC3 prostate, and A-704 kidney cancer cells, all obtained from Korean Ce 11 Line Bank, were used. The boiled extract of Duchesnea indica(Andr.) Focke (10 and 20 microliters) was injected into cultures, and the cultures were observed at 0, 6 and 12 hours, and from then on at 12 hours intervals up to 72 hours. The destruction of stomach, liver, urinary bladder, prostate and kidney cancer cells were measured through Trypan blue exclusion testing. The suppresion on viability of stomach, liver, urinary bladder, prostate and kidney cancer cells was measured via MTT assay. Anti-cancer mechanisms were assessed by analyzing the cell cycle. Results: In morphologic change, AGS, Hep3B, HepG2 showed the withdrawn and floating appearance that is typical in cellular impairment. The destruction of AGS, HT-1197, HT-1376, A-704, PC-3, Hep3B and HepG2 cancer cells in each test group was greater than that in the control group to a statistically significant degree. The suppression on viability of AGS, HT-1197 and Hep3G in each test group was greater than that in the control group to a statistically significant degree. Analysis of the cell cycle after injection of D... Focke showed inhibition of cell division in all test groups(AGS, Hep3B, HepG2, HT-1197, HT-1376, PC3, A-704). Conclusions: The results of this experiment suggest that Duchesnea indica(Andr.) Focke has statistically significant anti-tumor effects on stomach, urinary bladder, kidney, prostate and liver cancer, of which stomach and liver cancer are prominently significant. This in vitro experiment supports a role for Duchesnea indica(Andr.) Focke as a potential cancer treatment, but progressive research on Duchesnea indica(Andr.) Focke and its anti-tumor effects is needed to develop a practical application for it in cancer treatment.
