This study suggests a process design using cognitive processes. Job characteristic model for job design and recent cognitive engineering studies for process design are reviewed briefly. By using these concepts, the lean production system is re-interpreted in terms of cognitive engineering and the latent dimensions of the lean production system are revealed as the application of cognitive engineering principles. An integrated process design framework for cognitive manufacturing system using job characteristic model is suggested for the effective design of manufacturing system. Propositions for empirical analysis of this model are also analyzed through a questionnaire survey. Propositions are (1) experiential cognition and motivation potential affect the ability, role perception, and need for achievement of the operator in the manufacturing system, (2) the ability, role perception, and need for achievement of the operator affect the job performance. Both propositions are supported by correlation analysis and path analysis.

Kim, Yeonmin. “Thomas Hardy’s Mourning: Photographic Images in Emma Poems.” Studies in English Language & Literature 43.2 (2017): 49-73. A melancholic mourner, Thomas Hardy expresses his unending lamentation for the death of Emma, his first wife. In Emma poems (Poems of 1912-13) he adopts photographic images in the process of his mourning as a modern elegist. The visual images he captures in his poetry can be discussed in three ways: First, the presence of the dead is revealed through metonymy. Hardy suggests that metonymic objects retain direct traces of Emma in the same way as a photograph, which develops the light, keeps the direct contact with an object. Second, he conveys through photographic images an experience of sudden, stingy awareness, a sort of “punctum,” a concept theorized by Roland Barthes. Hardy’s punctum confirms the undeniable fact that Emma was there in the past, despite her absolute absence in the present moment. Last, his punctum creates dramatic irony arising from perceptual gaps between an object (Emma) and an observer (Hardy or readers). In showing his painful awakening, always belated but rendered by the dramatic irony through the visual, Hardy continues his perpetual project of melancholic mourning. (Chonnam National University)

Evaluating the performance of a diagnostic ultrasound system is important. Above all, establishingstandards for such evaluations in an objective and systematic way is critical. However,quality control is currently measured based on subjective judgment of an observer. Against thisbackground, this study intended to suggest quantified and objective data that would enable interobservervariation to be overcome. Five radiological technologists used an ATS-539 multi-purposeultrasound phantom to conduct measurements in the predetermined method. A digital imagingand communications in medicine (DICOM) standard image was obtained in an ultrasound systemby using a self-developed software to measure the accuracy of the distance before the 95% con-fidence interval was calculated. In order to examine the accuracy of the distance in longitudinaland transverse measurements, we conducted t-tests to evaluate the significance for the results ofquality control that was performed manually for the past one year and for the results of qualitycontrol that was performed by using software with the same equipment. For the longitudinal andthe transverse measurements, the 95% confidence intervals were 100.96-101.29 mm and 83.18-84.26mm, respectively. The computerized longitudinal measurement showed no significant differencefrom the manual measurement (p > 0.05). The results of measurements using of software showed ahigher reproducibility.

Recently, Autonomous vehicles, one of the keywords of fourth industrial revolution in the transportation, have been emerging, and image processing technology through cameras corresponding to driver's eyes is also becoming a core element technology. In addition to autonomous vehicles, The global drones market is gradually increasing, various researches and developments are being carried out to utilize drones in domestic and foreign companies, organizations and local governments. The purpose of this study is to suggest a method to apply drones to the transportation in the future with autonomous vehicles. After preprocessing the image data collected through the drone, the vehicle was detected through binarization and morphology, and the vehicle labeling was performed using the mixed Gaussian for vehicle tracking. As a result of vehicle labeling based on centroid value, the labeling rate for all passing vehicles was 71%. To detect the lane, the noise value is removed through the Gaussian Blur technique and the pixel Y value criterion and the individual lanes are connected in sequence. Based on this, we identified whether the vehicle was lane changing by recognizing individual vehicle location. As a result of comparison and verification with actual number of lane changing, recognition rate of lane changing was proved 72%. 최근 교통부문 4차 산업혁명의 키워드 중 하나인 자율주행차량이 대두되면서 이를 가능케하는 기술 중 운전자의 눈에 해당하는 카메라를 통한 영상처리 기술이 핵심요소기술로서 관심이 집중되고 있다. 자율주행차량과 더불어 세계 드론 시장 규모도 점차 증가함에 따라 국내·외 여러 기업, 기관 및 지자체 등에서 드론을 활용하기 위한 다양한 연구개발을 추진 중에 있다. 본 연구는 향후 자율주행차량 시대에 발맞추어 드론을 교통분야에 적용하기 위한 방안의 제시를 목적으로 하였다. 드론을 통해 획득된 영상데이터를 전처리한 후 이진화 및 모폴로지 기법의 적용을 통해 차량을 자동 인지하고 혼합 Gaussian을 이용해 차량 위치추적을 위한 레이블링을 수행하였다. Centroid 값 기준으로 차량 레이블링 수행 결과 전체 통과차량에 대한 레이블링율이 71%로 나타났다. 차선 검출을 위해 Gaussian Blur 기법과 픽셀 Y값 기준을 통해 이상치를 제거하고 개별 차선을 순차적으로 연결하였다. 이를 토대로 개별 차량 위치 인식을 통해 차량별 차로변경의 유무를 파악하였다. 실제 차로 변경 횟수와 비교·검증 결과 72% 인식률을 보이는 것으로 분석되었다.
