Annular pustular psoriasis(APP) is a rare variant of the generalized pustular psoriasis characterized by subacute onset of annular lesion with peripheral advancing pustules. Histologically, it is characterized by spongiform and/or subcomeal pustules which are also found in subcomeal pustular dermatosis(SPO). SPD is very difficult to differentiate from APP, although SPO is thought to be a separate and distinctive entity because of its clinical appearance, characteristic histology, and response to dapsone. We herein report a case of APP showing clinical nod histologic features of SPO developed in a patient who had a history of generalized pustular psoriasis. (Korean J Dermatol 2002;40(12) : 1527∼1530)
원유오염 토양으로부터 분리한 Pseudomonas fluorescence KNU417의 톨루엔 분해에서 환경 인자의 영향

원유에 오염된 토양으로부터 톨루엔을 분해할 수 있는 미생물을 분리하였으며 동정결과 Pseudomonas fluorescence였다. 이 미생물을 생물학적 톨루엔 처리공정에 사용하기 위해 온도, 톨루엔 농도, pH, 질소원등의 환경영향이 분해에 미치는 영향에 대해서 연구를 하였다. 이 미생물의 최적 분해 온도는 30℃였으며 이 때 최대 비성장속도와 최대 비소모속도는 각각 0.76 hr-1와 0.36hr-1이었다. 10℃ 와 40℃에서는 톨루엔을 분해하지 못하였으나 30℃에 적응한 미생물은 10℃에서 17시간 만에 100mg/L의 톨루엔을 완전히 분해하였고 40℃ 에서는 30시간 동안 80% 정도 분해할 수 있었다. 본 미생물은 200mg/L 이상의 톨루엔은 분해할 수 없었으나 20mg/L의 낮은 농도의 톨루엔에 적응을 시킴으로써 300mg/L의 톨루엔까지 분해할 수 있었다. pH는 5.5~9.0 범위에서 분해 속도에 별다른 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 암모늄(NH4+) 대신 질산염(NO3 -)을 사용했을 때 적응기가 2~10시간 정도 길어졌고 미생물 수율이 45% 정도감소하였다. 그러나 적응기가 지난 후의 톨루엔 분해속도에서는 별 차이를 보이지 않았다. 본 연구에서 얻은 결과들은 향후 바이오필터 등의 생물학적 톨루엔 처리공정 개발에 유용하게 사용될 것으로 기대된다 A microorganism capable of degrading toluene was isolated from crude oil contaminated soil and identified as Pseudomonas fluorescence. The effects of environmental factors on the degradation of toluene were investigated. The optimum temperature for toluene degradation was 30℃ and the maximum specific cell growth and toluene degradation rates were 0.76hr-1 and 0.36 hr-1, respectively. Although the wild cells were not able to degrade toluene at 10℃ and 40℃, the cells adapted to toluene at 30℃ degraded 100mg/L of toluene completely at 10℃ and 80% of the toluene at 40℃. The wild cells were not able to degrade more than 200mg/L of toluene but the toluene-adapted cells degraded up to 300mg/L of toluene. Although the optimum pH was 7.0, the degradation rates were not much different in the range of 5.5 to 9.0. When nitrate was used as a nitrogen source instead of ammonium, the adaptation period became longer by 2~10 hours and the cell growth yield became lower by 45%. The toluene degradation rates after adaptation period, however, were almost same in both cases. The observations in this study will be used in the future biofilter design and operation

Tufted angioma is a rare, acquired vascular tumor, most commonly presenting in the first year of life, which was first described by Wilson Jones in 1979. Spontaneous resolution of this tumor are known to be very rare and local recurrence often occurs unless the tumor is excised completely. We present two cases of tufted angioma developed in two 1-year-old girls. Skin biopsy in a case showed compatible findings with tufted angioma and the other was diagnosed at an other hospital. The lesions were treated with intralesional injections of triamcinolone acetonide and showed marked improvement. During follow up period, the lesions kept improving.

We experienced a case of folliculosebaceous cystic hamartoma in a 37-year-old man. The patient had an erythematous nodule measured 0.5×0.5cm with central umbilication on the vicinity of the right angle of lower lip. It occurred about 1 year ago and kept growing. The skin biopsy revealed a cystic structure regarded as the dilatation of a hair follicle and a plenty of sebaceous lobules which were radially oriented around it. There were numerous collagen fibers in the form of densely packed bundles surrounding the central cystic structure.

Churg-Strauss syndrome is a clinicopathologic disorder of severe asthma, fever, and eosinophilia together with systemic vasculitis involving various organ systems. Characteristic cutaneous lesions include erythematous maculopapules resembling erythema multiforme, hemorrhagic lesions, and cutaneous and subcutaneous nodules. Histologically, extravascular granuloma and leukocytoclastic vasculitis are the most common findings. We report a case of 40-year-old woman who presented with generalized multiple hemorrhagic bullae that had developed 1 month ago. Previously, She had allergic rhinitis and asthma. Laboratory studies revealed peripheral blood eosinophilia, and positive p-ANCA. Skin biopsy revealed eosinophilic infiltrates and leukocytoclastic vasculitis.
