폐쇄성 신증 모델에서 신조직 손상 기전에 미치는 Renin-Angeotensin System의 영향

In order to evaluate the renal expression of renin, TGF-β, TNF-α, IL-6, MCP-1, endothelin-l, osteopontin, and the role of renin-angiotensin system(RAS) in renal injury mechanism of experimental unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO), 44 male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 260-280g underwent sham operation(n=8), UUO without treatment(n=12), UUO with angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI, enalapril 100 mg/kg body weight in drinking water, n=12) and UUO with angiotensin II AT1 receptor antagonist(AT1 HA, losartan 300mg/kg body weight in drinking water, n=12) under thiopental sodium anesthesia(50mg/kg, body weight, I.P.). Half number of each group was sacrificed at 3 and 7 days after surgery. With standard point count method, we evaluated the magnitude of tubulointerstitial mononudear cell infiltration and relative volume of interstitium by light microscopic examination (PAS stain and immunohistochemistry for ED-1). Competitive RT-PCR was performed for the estimation of renin, TGF-β, TNF-α, IL-6, MCP-1, enelin-l, osteopontin and β-actin gene expression levels of the kidneys. Renal gene expressions of renin, TGF-β, MCP-1, TNF-α, IL6, endothelin-l, and osteopontin of untreated control UUO rats were significantly increased compared to sham operated rats at 3 and 7 days after surgery. The level of TGF-β, TNF-α, IL-6 and endothelin-1 gene expressions of ACEI treated UUO rats was significantly lower than those of untreated control UUO rats. AT1 RA treated UUO rats also showed significantly lower level of TGF-β and osteopontin gene expression than those of control UUO group. Untreated control UUO rats showed significantly increased mononuclear cell infiltration of tubulointerstitium and relative volume of interstitium of the kidney compared to sham operated rats. ACEI or AT1 RA treated UUO rats showed significantly less relative volume of interstitium and mononuclear cell infiltration than those of untreated UUO rats(p$lt;0.05, p$lt;0.05). With the above result, we speculate that the upregulation of renin, TGF-β, MCF-α, IL-6, osteopontin and endothelin-1 genes is closely related to the progressive renal injury process in this model and at least in part, the early activation of renin-angiotensin system of the kidney is involved in this mechanism.
신부전증과 폐에 Pseudolymphoma를 동반한 원발성 Sjogren 증후군 : Cyclophosphamide와 Prednisolone에 의한 성공적인 치료

Sjogren's syndrome(SS) is a systemic autoimmune disorder characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of the lacrimal and salivary glands, which result in dry eye and dry mouth. Systemic involvement including the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, endocrine glands, skin, or nervous system has been reported. Pulmonary abnormalities in SS are lymphoid interstitial infiltration, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis and pleurisy. Pulmonary pseudolymphoma associated with acute renal insufficiency is very rare. Recently, we experienced a patient with SS presenting with a huge pulmonary mass in the left upper lobe and acute renal failure. Pulmonary pseudolymphoma and renal functional impairment were completely reversed after a six month treatment with oral prednisolon(lmg/kg, body weight) and monthly cyclophosphamide pulse therapy (12mg/kg, I.V.). There was no evidence of disease recurrence for 16 months after discontinuation of prednisolone therapy.

Facilitated transport membranes for the separation of olefin/paraffin mixtures have long been of interest in separation membrane science because olefins, such as propylene and ethylene, which are important chemicals in petrochemical industries, are currently separated by energy-intensive cryogenic distillation pro¬cesses. Recently, solid polymer electrolyte membranes containing silver ions have demonstrated remarkable performance in the separation of olefin/paraffin mixtures in the solid state and, thus, they can be considered as alternatives to cryogenic distillation. Here, we review recent progress, and critical issues affecting in the use of facilitated olefin transport membranes; in particular, we provide a general overview with reference to carrier properties, transport mechanisms, and separation performance.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an important raw material in chemical industries; however, its separation through solid-state polymer membranes has not been extensively investigated. Herein, a series of comb-like copolymers is synthesized and used as a matrix to incorporate AgBF4 and ionic liquid ([bmim][BF4]) for solid-state facilitated CO transport membrane. The CO/N<sub>2</sub> separation performance is improved by introducing AgBF4 together with [bmim][BF4] into the copolymer matrix. Incorporating AgBF4 significantly increases the interaction energy between the membrane and CO molecules, demonstrating that Ag salts act as facilitated CO transport carriers and increase CO solubility in the membrane. Results show that the ionic liquid prevents comb copolymer aggregation and improves CO/N<sub>2</sub> selectivity.
