Objective : The purpose of this report is to examine the effects of direct moxibustion in the Low back pain patient. Methods : Clinical studies were done 30 patients who were treated with low back pain to Dept. of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, of Oriental Medical Sang-Ji University from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004. We treated them by Oriental medical therapy(including direct moxibustion)for 10 days. The evaluation was performed five times(admission day, before and after each twice). Results : 1. VAS was decreased after direct moxibustion for 10 days significantly(p<0.01). 2. After direct moxibustion, S.L.R. T angle of patients were increased. ConclUsions : We brought to the conclusion that direct moxibustion has possibility to the efficient to cure the Low back pain. So we suggest the possibility to use this treatment for Low back pain.
InhA-Like Protease Secreted by Bacillus sp. S17110 Inhabited in Turban Shell
Jung, Sang-Chul,Paik, Hyoung-Rok,Kim, Mi-Sun,Baik, Keun-Sik,Lee, Woo-Yiel,Seong, Chi-Nam,Choi, Sang-Ki The Microbiological Society of Korea 2007 The journal of microbiology Vol.45 No.5
A strain producing a potent protease was isolated from turban shell. The strain was identified as Bacillus sp. S17110 based on phylogenetic analysis. The enzyme was purified from culture supernatant of Bacillus sp. S17110 to homogeneity by ammonium sulfate precipitation, SP-Sepharose, and DEAE-Sepharose anion exchange chromatography. Protease activity of the purified protein against casein was found to be stable at pH 7 to pH 10 and around $50^{\circ}C$. Approximately 70% of proteolytic activity of the enzyme was detected either in the presence of 100 mM SDS or Tween 20. The enzyme activity was enhanced in the presence of $Ca^{2+},\;Zn^{2+},\;Mg^{2+}$, but was inhibited by EDTA, indicating that it requires metal for its activity. The purified enzyme was found to be a monomeric protein with a molecular mass of 75 kDa, as estimated by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and gel filtration chromatography. The purified enzyme was analyzed through peptide fingerprint mass spectra generated from matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and a BLAST search, and identified as immune inhibitor A (inhA) deduced from nucleotide sequence of B. cereus G9241. Since InhA was identified as protease that cleave antibacterial proteins found in insect, inhA-like protease purified from Bacillus sp. S17110 might be pathogenic to sea invertebrates.
The Change of Driving Performance due to Unexpected Situations during Driving with Secondary Tasks
Jung-chul Lee,Sang-pyo Hong,Ul-ho Jeong,Sung-jun Park,Mi-hyun Choi,Hyung-sik Kim,Soon-cheol Chung 대한인간공학회 2014 대한인간공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.5
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the unexpected situation during driving with secondary tasks has effects on driving performance ability of drivers. 29 subjects (56.3 ± 3.7 years old) with driving experience of 26.1 ± 6.8 years and without any psychiatric illness or nerve conditions were selected. The experiments were composed of three phases - Control, Reference, and Driving phases. During the Control phase (3 min), the drivers were instructed to the screen showing a parked, non-moving state. During the Reference phase (1 min), the subjects were only driven at 80 or 100 km/h. During the Driving phase (1 min), the subjects were either made to only drive or drive while performing secondary tasks (sending a mobile message or searching navigation). An unexpected situation such as a sudden stop of the vehicle in front occurred abruptly during this period. Driving performance during the unexpected situation was evaluated by car control variables such as brake time and medial-lateral coefficient of variation (MLCV). Brake time and MLCV of the Reference phase increased comparing with brake time (p<.001) and MLCV (p<.001) of Driving phase (with secondary tasks).
Effect of pH on Phase Separated Anaerobic Digestion
Jung, Jin-Young,Lee, Sang-Min,Shin, Pyong-Kyun,Chung, Yun-Chul The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengine 2000 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.5 No.6
A pilot scale experiment was performed for a year to develop a two-phase anaerobic process for piggery wastewater treatment (COD: 6,000mg/L, BOD: 4,000mg/L, SS: 500mg/L, pH 8.4, alkalinity 6,000mg/L). The acidogenic reactor had a total volume of 3㎥, and the methanogenic reactor, an anaerobic up-flow sludge filter, combining a filter and a sludge bed, was also of total volume 3㎥(1.5㎥ of upper packing material). Temperatures of the acidogenic and methanogenic reactors kept at 20$^{\circ}C$ and 35$^{\circ}C$, respectively. When the pH of the acidogenic reactor was controlled at 6.0-7.0 with HCl, the COD removal efficiency increased from 50 to 80% over a period of six months, and as a result, the COD of the final effluent fell in the range of 1,000-1,500 mg/L. BOD removal efficiency over the same period was above 90%, and 300 to 400 mg/L was maintained in the final effluent. The average SS in the final effluent was 270 mg/L. The methane production was 0.32㎥ CH$_4$/kg COD(sub)removed and methane content of the methanogenic reactor was high value at 80-90%. When the pH of the acidogenic reactor was not controlled over the final two months, the pH reached 8.2 and acid conversion decreased compared with that of pH controlled, while COD removal was similar to the pH controlled operation. Without pH control, the methane content in the gas from methanogenic reactor improved to 90%, compared to 80% with pH control.

Backgrounds/Aims: Owing to the short supply of homologous vein allografts, we previously used ringed Gore-Tex vascular grafts for middle hepatic vein (MHV) reconstruction in living donor liver transplantation. When ringed Gore-Tex grafts became unavailable, we used Hemashield vascular grafts. This study aimed to compare the patency and complication rates of Hemashield and ringed Gore-Tex grafts. Methods: This retrospective two-arm study compared the study group that received Hemashield grafts (n=157) and the propensity score-matched control group that received ringed Gore-Tex grafts (n=157). Results: In the Hemashield and Gore-Tex groups, the recipient age was 54.7±9.4 and 53.3±6.3 years; Model for End-stage Liver Disease scores were 15.9±9.2 and 16.9±8.3; and graft-recipient weight ratios were 1.07±0.24 and 1.10±0.23, respectively. In the Hemashield group, V5 reconstruction was performed using single (n=113, 72.0%), double (n=39, 24.8%), and triple (n=3, 1.9%) anastomoses. The proportion of double and triple anastomoses for V5 and V8 was higher in the Hemashield group than in the Gore-Tex group. Two (1.3%) patients required MHV conduit stenting owing to early thrombosis of the Hemashield graft. There was no difference in conduit occlusion-free patient survival rates between groups (p=0.91). The incidence of accidental conduit migration in the Hemashield and Gore-Tex groups was 0 (0%) and 2 (1.3%), respectively. Conclusions: Hemashield grafts used in MHV reconstruction demonstrated acceptably high short- and mid-term patency rates, no incidences of conduit migration, easy handling, and good flexibility for length adjustment. Therefore, we suggest that the Hemashield graft is the preferentially suitable prosthetic material for MHV reconstruction.
