        Submarine pipelines, one of the most important subjects in coastal engineering, are widely used in coastal structures. The stability of submarine pipelines is more important than other offshore structures, because local scour have influence on exposed pipelines due to waves generated in shallow water region. The local scour influence by wave should be previously considered because the self-burial caused to local scour induces additional static or dynamic loads and various risk elements. However, local scour occurring in waves has not been investigated as widely as in currents. This paper presents experimental investigations of scour depth with respect to scour parameters using regular waves. The investigations encompass shallow water region conditions. Developments of scour near the pipeline are observed and recorded due to variations of wave periods, wave heights and pipe diameters. This paper analyzes correlation between KC number and various scour parameters. By investigating new approach method suggested by C¸evik et al.(1999), it is found that modified Ursell number is valid for main parameters occurring to local scour below pipeline. Also this study analyzes relation between KC number and modified Ursell number and suggests modified equation based on experimental data. Under special experimental conditions, incomplete scours are appeared. This is caused by multiple correlation made with water depth(d), wave heights(H), period(T) and pipe diameter(D).

      • 3차원 CFD 모형을 이용한 원형 교각의 국부세굴 특성 해석

        Scour is a natural phenomenon, which occurs whenever a solid object is placed on loose sedimentary material, such as sand, in moving water. The flow of water is close to any such obstruction causes local increases in water velocity together with eddies and vortices. The flow phenomena are complex due to the presence of a boundary layer as well as and adverse pressure gradient set up by the bridge pier. Many researchers have conducted a vast number of experiments in laboratory flumes to investigate the local scour depth around a bridge pier. A few empirical formulas predicting the maximum scout depth have been developed under various experimental conditions. However, most of the experiments have been carried out in flumes under idealized conditions. such as steady flow, uniform sediment, simplified geometry, etc. The purpose of the study is to simulate accurately the flow field and scouring processes using a three-dimensional numerical flow model. In this study, for analyzing the mechanism of scouring process, CFD(computational fluid dynamics) model is used, based on the VOF(Volume of fluid) theory and finite differential equation. For the flow model, the simulated three-dimensional flatbed flow field(without bed slop) is compared with experimental data obtained by established scour equation and data. The results showed that 3D scouring flow field simulated by CFD model have almost the same phasis as experimental results.

        This study is to analyze the compitition structure and the brand image of the formalwear and the preferance of the brand group among the age of 20's females. The 207 samples of 20's females who live in Cheong-Ju city. The results of this study are followed as: The market competition structre appeared in positioning map have been constituted into four groups of the "Tomboy y'sb","lollol·selly·besti-belly","VOV·o.z.o.c·Joinus",EnC·i.n.v.u". The brand-trasfer of each group may easily be taken place as each compition among these groups was much feeble. By investigating the image of the formalwear brands appeared in positioning map, it may be presented that horizontality dimrnsion is "cute-ellegance image", and verticality dimension is "mannish-feminine image". Group Ⅳ such as EnC·i.n.v.u is brand which are prefered and purechaseed by the age of 20's females, whereas the preferance and puechase of brand such as VOV·o.z.o.c·Joinus.

        Crystal structure of Tpa1 from <i>Saccharomyces cerevisiae</i> , a component of the messenger ribonucleoprotein complex

        <P>Tpa1 (for termination and polyadenylation) from <I>Saccharomyces cerevisiae</I> is a component of a messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) complex at the 3′ untranslated region of mRNAs. It comprises an N-terminal Fe(II)- and 2-oxoglutarate (2OG) dependent dioxygenase domain and a C-terminal domain. The N-terminal dioxygenase domain of a homologous Ofd1 protein from <I>Schizosaccharomyces pombe</I> was proposed to serve as an oxygen sensor that regulates the activity of the C-terminal degradation domain. Members of the Tpa1 family are also present in higher eukaryotes including humans. Here we report the crystal structure of <I>S. cerevisiae</I> Tpa1 as a representative member of the Tpa1 family. Structures have been determined as a binary complex with Fe(III) and as a ternary complex with Fe(III) and 2OG. The structures reveal that both domains of Tpa1 have the double-stranded β-helix fold and are similar to prolyl 4-hydroxylases. However, the binding of Fe(III) and 2OG is observed in the N-terminal domain only. We also show that Tpa1 binds to poly(rA), suggesting its direct interaction with mRNA in the mRNP complex. The structural and functional data reported in this study support a role of the Tpa1 family as a hydroxylase in the mRNP complex and as an oxygen sensor.</P>

        한국 근현대문학에 나타난 가족담론의 전개와 그 의미: 현대시

        Family has been to be defined as an ambivalent organization having both sides of positivity and negativity. The former could have given protection and security to family and the latter could have repressed individuals in family. This study has discussed an archetypal sense of family and symptoms of familial deconstruction by focusing on this ambivalence of family. In history of the Korean modem & contemporary poetry the keyword 'family' has implied a sensitive atmosphere of history and times. Kim So-Worl's poetry have embodied a familial sense in his poetry as he has recognized family as an archetype and root of self-identity, and have succeeded to its sense as an experience of ethic universality. From 1930s to the Korean Liberation, the most poetry of Paik-Soek and Jung Ji-Yong had contained the tragic experience of the loss of family and homeland, and had sought for wishing persistently to revival of the imagination of familial community and the home-paradise. Through the Korean War after the Liberation, family has been emphasized as an existential being. The poetry of Park Mok-Worl and Soe Jung-Joo have not only relieved the familial sense in daily life by their perspectives into common lives but also emphasized familial functions of purgarion, cure, and reproduction. In difference of Kim So-Worl, Back-Soek, Jung Ji-Yong, Park Mok-Worl, and Soe Jung-Joo, Lee-Sang was to be a poet who had expressed an precursive anti-traditional consciousness by denying the pedigree, the family, the fatally given right of the eldest son, the married relationship, and the like. This was to be in gear with the modem consciousness which had supported individualism. Kim Soo-Young's poetry in deep relation with the urban mechanism in industrial society are to be examples that have shown the agitation of patriarchal dominion by having expressed disunited parental portrays. In industrialized society patriarchs have been to be placed in social proletariat, and then their disunion and contradiction in Kim Soo-Young's poetry have related deeply with the principle of exchange value which has been to be a dominant value in this industrialized society. After the midst of 1980s, fathers, as non-ethical, impotent, absent fathers, or disturbers threatening their families, have occupied in the center of the familial discourses. Especially, do-nothing fathers in poetry of Lee Soeng-Bok and Ki Hyoung-Dau have been highlighted as negative beings who have pushed their families into the breakdown. These familial discourses in the Korean modem & contemporary poetry have shown what have been first question and recognition about an existence appeared in the relation between an archetypical function of family and the 'I' having been placed as a member of that family. These question and recognition have very important meanings in terms of having offered a relationship between 'I' and a group, and the existential foundation of them. And, symptoms of familial deconstruction with radical changes of history have asked us what could be a new ideal model of life. The deconstruction has contained both positivity and negativity in terms of which has contained both crisis and possibility of new life. The phenomena in transitional period with familial deconstruction have signified by showing the possibility to be energy in order that poets' sensitive consciousness about the problem of a relationship among family, group and individual, and blood and non-blood as a society and its infra-unity may produce a better structure of life.

        KARI has been developed VDL(VHF Data Link) M2 system supporting simple air traffic services messages such as CPDLC and ADS. Now we are in the last phase of the VDL M2 project and are testing the system on the ground. In this paper, the developed VDL M2 system with test software and applications will be simply described and the ground link performance test setup and the test result are described.

        Target Detection probability simulation in the homogeneous ground clutter environment

        This paper describes target detection performance of millimeter wave radar that exits on non-stationary target detection schemes in the ground clutter conditions. The comparison of various CFAR process schemes such as CA(Cell-Average)-CFAR, GO(Greatest Of)/SO(Smallest Of)-CFAR, and OS(Order Statistics)-CFAR performance are applied. Using matlab software, we show the performance and loss between target detection probability and signal to noise ratio. This paper concludes the OS-CFAR process performance is better than any others and satisfies the optimal detection probability without loss of detection in the homogeneous clutter, When range bins increase.

        Original Article : Ultrasonographic scoring system score versus liver stiffness measurement in prediction of cirrhosis

        Background/Aims: We compared the cirrhosis-prediction accuracy of an ultrasonographic scoring system (USSS) combining six representative sonographic indices with that of liver stiffness measurement (LSM) by transient elastography, and prospectively investigated the correlation between the USSS score and LSM in predicting cirrhosis. Methods: Two hundred and thirty patients with chronic liver diseases (187 men, 43 women; age, 50.4±9.5 y, mean±SD) were enrolled in this prospective study. The USSS produces a combined score for nodularity of the liver surface and edge, parenchyma echogenicity, presence of right-lobe atrophy, spleen size, splenic vein diameter, and abnormality of the hepatic vein waveform. The correlations of the USSS score and LSM with that of a pathological liver biopsy (METAVIR scoring system: F0.F4) were evaluated. Results: The mean USSS score and LSM were 7.2 and 38.0 kPa, respectively, in patients with histologically overt cirrhosis (F4, P=0.017) and 4.3 and 22.1 kPa in patients with fibrotic change without overt cirrhosis (F0.F3) (P=0.025). The areas under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of the USSS score and LSM for F4 patients were 0.849 and 0.729, respectively. On the basis of ROC curves, criteria of USSS ≥6: LSM ≥17.4 had a sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of 89.2%:77.6%, 69.4%:61.4%, 86.5%:83.7%, 74.6%:51.9% and 0.83:0.73, respectively, in predicting F4. Conclusions: The results indicate that this USSS has comparable effi cacy to LSM in the diagnosis of cirrhosis.

        The Changes of Natural Microflora in Liver Sausage with Kimchi Powder during Storages

        The objectives of this study were to apply the Baranyi model to predict the growth of natural microflora in liver sausage with added kimchi powder. Kimchi powder was added to the meat products at 0, 1, 2, and 3% levels. To determine and quantify the natural microflora in the meat products, total plate counts and counts of anaerobic bacteria and lactic acid bacteria were examined throughout the 28 d of storage. The obtained data were applied to the Baranyi growth model. The indices used for comparing predicted and observed data were Bf, Af, root mean square error (RMSE), and R2. Twelve predictive models were characterized by a high R2 and small RMSE. The Baranyi model was useful in predicting natural microflora levels in these meat products with added kimchi powder during storage.
