An in-line wet etch/cleaning system was established for the research and development in wet etch process as a formation of electrode such as metal or transparent conductive oxide layer. A reverse moving system was equipped in the in-line wet etch/cleaning system for the alternating motion of glass substrate in a wet etch bath of the system. Therefore, it was possible for the glass substrate to be moved back and forth and it was possible to reduce the size of the system by using the reversing moving system. For the effect of the alternating motion of substrate on the etch rate in the in-line wet etch bath, indium tin oxide(ITO) patterns were obtained through wet etch process in the in-line system in which the substrate was moved back and forth. From the CD(critical dimension) skews resulted from the ADI CD and ACI CD of the ITO patterns, it was concluded that the alternating motion of glass substrate are possible to be applied to the mass production of wet etch process.
안점막자극시험의 대체시험법으로서 bovine corneal opacity assay의 확립

The objective of this study is establishing of an alternative method using bovine cornea to rabbit eye irritation test. The bovine corneal opacity and permeability assay is checking opacity and permeability of bovine cornea after exposure of chemical irritants. In this study, we measured the opacity of the bovine cornea by quantifying the ability of light to pass through it using opacitometer. In addition, we optimized the basal opacity level before treatment of irritants to bovine corneas. With these results, we established the standard operating procedure of bovine corneal opacity assay.

Tristetraprolin regulates expression of VEGF and tumorigenesis in human colon cancer

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Tristetraprolin (TTP) is an AU‐rich element‐binding protein that regulates mRNA stability. Here, we report that TTP suppress the growth of human colon cancer cells both <I>in vivo</I> and <I>in vitro</I> by regulating of the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). TTP protein expression in human colonic tissues was markedly decreased in colonic adenocarcinoma compared with in normal mucosa and adenoma. VEGF expression was higher in colonic adenocarcinoma than in normal mucosa and adenoma. Specific inhibition of TTP expression by RNA‐interference increased the expression of VEGF in cultured human colon cancer cells, and TTP overexpression markedly decreased it. In addition, elevated expression of TTP decreased the expression level of luciferase linked to a 3′ terminal AU‐rich element (ARE) of VEGF mRNA. Colo320/TTP cells overexpressing TTP grew slowly <I>in vitro</I> and became tumors small in size when xenografted <I>s.c</I> into nude mice. These findings demonstrate that TTP acts as a negative regulator of VEGF gene expression in colon cancer cells, suggesting that it can be used as novel therapeutic agent to treat colon cancer.</P>
Bovine Corneal Opacity Assay법을 이용한 안점막 자극 물질의 검증에 관한 연구

Bovine corneal opacity and permeability assay have been proposed as reliable alternatives to the Draize test. In this study, we measured the opacity of the bovine cornea by quantifying the ability of light to pass through it using opacitometer. We obtained the regular value of basal opacity using bovine cornea collected within three hours after killing. For opacity alone, values obtained for 3 chemicals that are already known as irritants showed a correlation of r=0.994 (p=0.001) with Draize score about same materials. Comparing to reference Draize data from ECVAM (European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods), a correlation coefficient with our Draize score for the 3 chemicals was 0.982 (p=0.003). Bovine cornea test data of additional 3 chemicals already known as irritants showed a correlation of r=0.968 (p<0.001) with reference Draize data from ECVAM. Then the bovine cornea opacity test and Draize test with 3 cosmetics were performed. In both tests, we obtained similar results that showed all cosmetics were non-irritant. These results indicate that bovine corneal opacity assay has the potentiality to be developed as alternatives to rabbit eye irritation test.
