4 roots of 2 year old ginseng were planted in a small pot trateing with fungal pathogens, Fusarium solani, nematodes isolated from the ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) cultured soil and the two mixed inoculum respectively. Rate of infestation and nematodes distributed around the harvested host plant after 40 days was investigated. To obtained results were as follows: Each group was treated with F. solani, nematodes and mixed inoculum showed higher disease index by infestation from 3.3 to 3.8 while control group was healthy showing lower disease index of 1.2. The nematodes identified were 4 genera in control group and F. Solani inoculated group. 11 genera of nematodes including Xiphinema spp were distributed in the nematodes inoculated pot, and their numbers were higher in the population. Especially Radophalus spp, Tylenchulus spp, Meloidogyne spp, Xiphinema spp and Ditylenchus spp were numerous in their population density, but Belonolimus spp and Hemicyciophora spp were lower. Fourteen genera of nematodes were distributed in the mixed inoculation pot than only the nematodes treated group. and also the population was higher in the mixed inoculation group. The more populated genera is number were Ditylenchus spp, Paratylenchus spp, Paratylenchus spp. Hemicycliophora spp, Meloidogyne spp, Helicotylenchus spp and Tylenchorhynchus spp, but Hirschmanniella spp was less in the population density.

Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is characterized by the absolute eosinophil count is≥ 1,500/mm3 for more than 6 months without any recognizable cause, and tissue damage is present. HES is subdivided into several clinically relevant variants. Myeloproliferative variant with gene mutation of fip1 like 1.platelet derived growth factor receptor.alpha (fiP1L1.PDGFRA), a kind of tyrosine kinase, is known to response dramatically to tyrosine kinase inhibitor such as imatinib mesylate. However, there were only a few case reports which described treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors in fiP1L1.PDGFRA.positive HES. Here, we described a case of successful treatment with imatinib mesylate in fiP1L1.PDGFRA.positive HES. A 30.year.old male patient was referred to tertiary hospital for eosinophilia, weight loss and chronic fatigue which persisted for 2 months. The evaluation for peripheral blood eosinophilia was performed, and the results were as followed. A peripheral blood smear and chemistry yielded marked eosinophilia with mild anemia and increased serum level of vitamin B12, respectively. Chest PA and chest computed tomography (CT) revealed mild hepatosplenomegaly. Stool exam and serologic test for parasites turned to be negative. Serum total IgE was within normal range. Bone marrow exam yielded bone marrow hypercellularity, and RT.PCR was positive for gene mutation of fiP1L1.PDGFRA, but not for that of fiP1L1.PDGFRB. The patient`s case was diagnosed as a fiP1L1. PDGFRA.positive myeloproliferative variant of HES. The patient received methylprednisolone and imatinib mesylate thereafter. Follow up studies showed that peripheral eosinophilia was resolved. After four months, a fiSH study for fiP1L1.PDGFRA showed that abnormal cells which presented 4q12 (CHIC2) deletion or PDGFRA.fiP1L1 fusion were no longer found. We report a case of fiP1L1.PDGFRA.positive myeloproliferative variant of HES which showed prompt and complete hematological response to treatment with imatinib mesylate.

<P>Complex nanopatterns integrating diverse nanocomponents are crucial requirements for advanced photonics and electronics. Currently, such multicomponent nanopatterns are principally created by colloidal nanoparticle assembly, where large-area processing of highly ordered nanostructures raises significant challenge. We present multicomponent nanopatterns enabled by block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly, which offers device oriented sub-10-nm scale nanopatterns with arbitrary large-area scalability. In this approach, BCP nanopatterns direct the nanoscale lateral ordering of the overlaid second level BCP nanopatterns to create the superimposed multicomponent nanopatterns incorporating nanowires and nanodots. This approach introduces diverse chemical composition of metallic elements including Au, Pt, Fe, Pd, and Co into sub-10-nm scale nanopatterns. Background: Shift work has been shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) based on several evidences. The classic risk factors of CVD include age, hypertension, smoking, obesity and diabetes. Recently, the serum homocysteine level has been reported to be a valuable indicator of CVD risk. This study aimed to determine the variation in serum homocysteine level as a cardiovascular risk indicator among female workers according to shift work. Methods: The data of regular health examination of workers at an electronic manufacturing services company in Yeongnam region, South Korea in 2019 were examined in this study. The investigation was based on a cross-sectional study conducted on 697 female workers (199 day workers and 498 shift workers). The sociodemographic and biochemical characteristics were compared between day workers and shift workers. Through a logistic regression analysis, the odds ratio (OR) of the increased serum homocysteine level in relation to shift work was determined. Results: Compared to female day workers, female shift workers showed significantly higher level of serum homocysteine (8.85 ± 2.16 vs. 9.42 ± 2.04 μmol/mL; p = 0.001). The OR of day workers against shift workers was 1.81 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.25–2.63). With the adjustment of variables that may influence the level of serum homocysteine, the adjusted OR was 1.68 (95% CI: 1.09–2.60). Conclusions: The serum homocysteine level was significantly higher in shift workers than in day workers. It is thus likely to be a useful predictor of CVD in shift workers.

Background: The adverse effects of the phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor roflumilast, appear to be more frequent in clinical practice than what was observed in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) clinical trials. Thus, we designed this study to determine whether adverse effects could be reduced by starting roflumilast at half the dose, and then increasing a few weeks later to $500{\mu}g$ daily. Methods: We retrospectively investigated 85 patients with COPD who had taken either $500{\mu}g$ roflumilast, or a starting dose of $250{\mu}g$ and then increased to $500{\mu}g$. We analyzed all adverse events and assessed differences between patients who continued taking the drug after dose escalation and those who had stopped. Results: Adverse events were reported by 22 of the 85 patients (25.9%). The most common adverse event was diarrhea (10.6%). Of the 52 patients who had increased from a starting dose of $250{\mu}g$ roflumilast to $500{\mu}g$, 43 (82.7%) successfully maintained the $500{\mu}g$ roflumilast dose. No difference in factors likely to affect the risk of adverse effects, was detected between the dose-escalated and the discontinued groups. Of the 26 patients who started with the $500{\mu}g$ roflumilast regimen, seven (26.9%) discontinued because of adverse effects. There was no statistically significant difference in discontinuation rate between the dose-escalated and the control groups (p=0.22). Conclusion: Escalating the roflumilast dose may reduce treatment-related adverse effects and improve tolerance to the full dose. This study suggests that the dose-escalated regimen reduced the rate of discontinuation. However, longer-term and larger-scale studies are needed to support the full benefit of a dose escalation strategy.

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of a forest healing program on the level of job stress and the profile of mood states (POMS). 38 public servants who were in charge of social welfare in A city as well as 24 metal health care workers in C province participated in the forest healing programs. The data were collected by a pretest-posttest design. The data analysis showed that both job stress and POMS levels were significantly improved by the forest healing program. The therapeutic effects of forests are highly expected to be utilized for healing programs for job stress reduction and burnout prevention.
