Obturator hernia is a rare pelvic hernia, occuring most frequently in elderly, extra-thin or debilitated women. Because of the anatomic character of the obturator foramen and the nonspecific symptoms in the presence of the hernia, the risk of strangulation of the herniated bowel is high, which leads to high morbidity and mortality rate. The authors experienced an unusual case of left obturator hernia with strangulation of the small bowel in an 80-year old female. The hernia was diagnosed by abdomino-pelvic computed tomography (CT) scan. Through the lower midline transperitoneal approach, resecting the strangulated small bowel, the hernia sac was ligated and the obturator foramen was repaired using adjacent broad ligament. We report these findings with a brief review of the literature.
Supernumerary ovary on recto-sigmoid colon with associated endometriosis

A supernumerary ovary is a rare gynecological anomaly, and is usually excised due to its malignant transformation potential. We report a case of a supernumerary ovary and endometriosis situated on the anterior rectosigmoid colon. When laparoscopy was conducted, a firm, 5-cm mass was discovered on the anterior rectosigmoid colon along with normal ovaries. In this case, the discovery of a supernumerary ovary implied the presence of endometriosis. It is unusual for endometriosis and a supernumerary ovary to exist simultaneously.

<P>In the breast-cancer image detection device field, remarkable advancements have been made in the breast cancer detection method using microwave radiation that satisfies the conditions required by Institute of Medicine (IOM). This paper is for embodying the microwave analysis breast tumor detection system that can analyze the permittivity and the conductivity of the breast inside, discover breast tumors, and easily check the various analytical information of the scatter and size of tumors inside breasts. The microwave breast tumor detection system is composed of an antenna array and the RF transceiver for the acquiring of microwave exposure information; the inverse scattering algorithm for searching the permitivity, conductivity and position of a material, and graphic user interface software that includes the visualization and various analyses of acquired data. The embodied system has shown the same-level function of tumor detection even in the type of heterogeneously dense material that is difficult to detect through mammography by experimentations with four kinds of classifications according to the distribution of lactiferous duct inside the breast.</P>
A case of Pulmonary thrombo-embolism after cesarean section

The patient was a 31-year-old pregnant woman at 31+4 weeks of gestation with a history of previous Cesarean section, overweight (BMI=28.3) and post-cerclage status. She was hospitalized due to preterm labor and was medicated with tocolytics. On the 10th hospital day, emergency C-section was performed because of rupture of membrane and preterm labor. During operation, nothing unusual was detected. On the 1st day after operation, she complained worsened fatigue with severe dyspnea accompanied by oppressive chest pain. While being uncooperative, the patient's physical examination showed hypotensive, tachycardia, hypoxemia and tachypnea. On ultrasound finding, definite deep vein thrombosis was not detected in both femoral veins, however, on echocardiogram, right ventricle dilatation was severe with D shaped left ventricle. Pulmonary thromboembolism was suspected. Bradycardia and cardiac arrest were checked. After CPR her vital sign was recovery. Therefore, extra corporeal membrane oxygenationI (ECMO) and emergency pulmonary thrombo-embolectomy was conducted. During the operation, small amount thrombi was found in left pulmonary artery. And large amount thrombi was found in right pulmonary artery as well. After the condition improved, the patient was discharged. Pulmonary embolism is one of diseases with the highest mortality. On life threatened condition, emergent thromboembolectomy under ECMO may be an effective management of pulmonary embolism.

Objective: To investigate the composition of vaginal microbiota in pregnant Korean women with BV by using NGS and to investigate the clinical value of NGS for diagnosis of BV. Methods: The study included 136 pregnant women who had undergone prenatal care at Eulji University Hospital. Vaginal swab samples were collected for Nugent scoring using Gram stain and NGS. Of 136 subjects, 100 had normal flora (NF), 19 had intermediate flora (IF), and 17 had bacterial vaginosis (BV), based on the Nugent score. Genomic DNA was extracted and amplified by polymerase chain reaction from a sample for NGS using a universal primer set targeting the V3-V4 region of 16S rRNA. Results: Thirteen species with significantly different distributions were identified among the 3 groups . The BV group had lower levels of Lactobacillus and higher levels of Gardnerella vaginalis group, ADGP-s, Atopobium vaginae etc. The IF group had lower levels of L. helveticus group and L. jensenii group, and higher levels of G. vaginalis group, A. vaginae etc. There was a statistically significant difference in alpha and beta diversity between the BV and NF groups and between the IF and NF groups. We used a clustering program for the IF and BV groups, and identified BV1, BV2, and BV3 by taxonomic classification. There were 15, 6, and 15 cases in the BV1, BV2, and BV3 group, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference in alpha and beta diversity richness between the BV3 and BV2 groups, and between the BV3 and BV1 groups. However, there was no significant difference between the BV1 and BV2 groups. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant difference in alpha and beta diversity between the BV and NF groups and between the IF and NF groups. However, there was no significant difference between the IF and BV groups. These results were different in non-pregnant Korean women, possibly leading to microbiotal concentration in the NF group in pregnancy. Taxonomic classification can yield more information on BV.
Resolution-Enhancement for an Integral Imaging Microscopy Using Deep Learning

<P>A novel resolution-enhancement method for an integral imaging microscopy that applies interpolation and deep learning is proposed, and the complete system with both hardware and software components is implemented. The resolution of the captured elemental image array is increased by generating intermediate-view elemental images between each neighboring elemental image, and an orthographic-view visualization of the specimen is reconstructed. Then, a deep learning algorithm is used to generate maximum possible resolution for each reconstructed directional-view image with improved quality. Since a pretrained model is applied, the proposed system processes the images directly without data training. The experimental results indicate that the proposed system produces resolution-enhanced directional-view images, and quantitative evaluation methods for reconstructed images such as the peak signal-to-noise ratio and the power spectral density confirm that the proposed system provides improvements in image quality.</P>
원격무선추적을 이용한 집박쥐 암컷의 번식단계에 따른 행동권 분석

집박쥐의 번식단계에 따른 행동권 변화를 파악하기 위하여 2009년 5월부터 8월까지 임신기, 수유기, 수유 후기로 구분하여 각 단계별 3개체씩 총 9개체를 대상으로 원격무선추적을 실시하였다. 원격무선추적은 0.38g 발신기와 R2000 수신기 그리고 3소자 안테나를 이용하였으며, 박쥐의 포획은 double-stacked mist net와 harp-trap을 이용하여 포획하였다. 행동권 분석에는 GIS용 SHP File과 ArcGIS 3.3(ESRI Inc.) Animal Movement Extension 2.0을 이용하였으며, Kernel Home Range Method와 Minimum Convex Polygon Method를 이용하여 분석하였다. 번식단계에 따른 암컷 집박쥐의 행동권을 분석한 결과 임신기의 행동권은 MCP 100% 13.46±1.84ha, MCP 95% 12.28±2.15ha, KHR 50% 3.00±0.71ha로 나타났으며, 수유기의 행동권은 MCP 100% 8.13±0.23ha, MCP 95% 7.73±0.63ha, KHR 50%는 1.84±1.05ha로 조사되었다. 수유 후의 행동권은 MCP 100% 125.58±97.77ha, MCP 95% 123.89±97.73ha, KHR 50% 28.61±26.78ha로 분석되어 집박쥐의 행동권은 번식단계에 따라 MCP 100%, MCP 95%, KHR 50% 모두 유의적인 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났으며, 수유 후기의 행동권이 가장 크고 수유기의 행동권이 가장 적은 것으로 조사되었다. In order to analyze the change in home ranges depending on the reproductive stage of Pipistrellus abramus, radio-tracking was carried out for a total of 9 individuals, 3 individuals each, by dividing stages into a pregnancy stage, lactation stage, and post-lactation stage from May to August 2009. For radio-telemetry, 0.38g transmitters, R2000 receivers and 3-element Yagi antennas were used. Pipistrellus abramus were captured using a double-stacked mist net and a harp-trap. Analysis of home ranges used a SHP File and ArcGIS 3.3 for GIS, and used a Kernel Home Range Method(KHR) and a Minimum Convex Polygon(MCP) Method for analysis. Home ranges at the pregnancy stage were MCP 100% 13.46±1.84ha, MCP 95% 12.28±2.15ha, KHR 50% 3.00±0.71ha, and home ranges at the lactation stage were MCP 100% 8.13±0.23ha, MCP 95% 7.73±0.63ha, KHR 50%1.84±1.05ha. Home ranges at the post-lactation stage were MCP 100% 125.58 ±97.77ha, MCP 95% 123.89±97.73ha, KHR 50% 28.61±26.78ha. As a result, home ranges of pipistrellus abramus showed a significant difference in all of the MCP 100%, MCP 95%, KHR 50% depending on reproductive stages, being largest in the post-lactation stage and smallest in the lactation stage.
