      • Baculovirus를 이용한 Aujeszky's Disease Virus gⅢ 단백질 발현

        The g Ⅲ gene located in U_L region of Yangsan strain, a field isolate of Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV) in Korea, was cloned into pTZ18R and sequenced. The gⅢ gene consisting of 1,437 nucleotides showed 98% sequence homology with that of Becker strain, a reference strain of ADV. The gene encoding gⅢ of Yangsan strain was placed under the control of Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrosis virus (AcNPV) polyhedrin promoter, and expressed by the derived recombinant baculovirus using Spodoptera frugiperda 9 (Sf9) cells. The expressed gⅢ was a protein with molecular weight of 72kd determined by immunoprecipitation and Western blotting assay using anti-ADV polyclonal antibodies and anti-gⅢ monoclonal antibody. The partially purified gⅢ protein was utilized as antigen in the radial immunodiffusion enzyme assay (RIDEA) to detect to specific antibody against ADV in pig sera. The results indicated that the sensitivity of RIDEA with the recombinant gⅢ protein antigen (98%) was as high as that with the conventional glycoprotein antigen extracted from the ADV infected cells. In addition, the false positive and false nagative reactions in gⅢ RIDEA were significantly reduced than the conventional glycoprotein RIDEA as judged from the results of standard serum neutralization test.

      • 주파수 선택적 패이딩 채널에 대한 OFDM시스템에서의 시간영역 반송파동기기법

        본 논문에서는, 주파수 선택적 패이딩 채널하에서 OFDM시스템의 시간영역 반송파 동기방식인 Cyclic Prefix를 사용하는 ML기법과 burst preamble을 사용하는 훈련심볼기법간의 주파수옵셋 추정성능을 MSE추정오차로써 비교, 분석한다. CP를 이용하는 ML기법은 다중경로환경에서 지연파에 의해 오염된 샘플을 상관샘플로 사용하기 때문에 추정성능의 열화를 가져오게 된다. 그러나 오염된 샘플이 적절하게 제거된다면, 비록 상관샘플의 수는 적더라도 ML기법이 짧은 훈련심볼을 사용하는 기법보다 우수한 오차성능특성을 보이고 있음이 시뮬레이션을 통해 확인되었다. 또한 짧은 훈련심볼과 긴 훈련심볼을 함께 사용할 경, 주파수 선택적 패이딩 채널하에서 훈련심볼기법이 CP를 이용하는 ML기법에 비해 추정성능이 뛰어나며, 보다 효율적임을 확인하였다. In this paper, the frequency offset estimation performance characteristics with a estimated MSE in the frequency selective fading channel are analyzed and compared between the ML technique using the cyclic prefix and the training symbol technique using the burst preamble. Since in the frequency selective fading channel, the ML estimator uses samples distorted by a previous OFDM symbol for its correlation, the estimation performance is degraded. However if the distorted samples are removed appropriately, even if the samples for correlation is fewer, the ML estimator give a better performance characteristic than the short training symbol technique. But using the short training symbol and long training symbol together, the training symbol technique shows better efficient and excellent frequency offset estimation performance characteristics than that of the ML estimator.

      • 충주시 농촌지역 주민들에 대한 보건교육 평가

        The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of health education program in Choongju rural area which had conducted by Public Health Doctor during winter in 1994 and 1995. We used two step sampling method for a household survey. First, six were selected from 12 Myuns, which were stratified by the level of health education activity. Second, we applied convenient sample method. Of the 307 respondents, most of them knew Health-subcenter's existence in their region. However, only 149 persons(45%) visited it during last year. They visited Health-subcenter because it was easy to travel and convenient. Some of them thought that Health-subcenter had very poorly equipped and supplied. About 32∼34% of respondents participated the health education program for hypertension and diabetes mellitus which was done last winter, and 59∼70% of participants of the program answered that it was very, moderately helpful. 82∼83% of participants recognized complications of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, and 18∼20% of them did not know that medications of hypertension and diabetes mellitus should be continued one's whole life. The respondents want to receive health educations for cancer, arthritis, viral hepatitis and AIDS in orders. Many of rural residents utilize Health-subcenters because health clinics in Choongju rural area are very few.

        제주도 양식넙치, Paralichthys olivaceus의 스쿠티카충병 발생 동향

        The research was carried out to know the occurrence trend of scuticociliatosis and mortality of fingerlings in flounder. The diseased fish were collected from on-land rearing farms and hatcheries of flounder in Jeju Island form January 1991 to December 2001. Occurrence of scuticociliatosis was about 10% of total occurred diseases for 1991 to 1996, but increased to 34.5% in 2001. Although monthly occurrence of seuticociliatosis was not related to season from 1999 to 2001, the highest occurrence was revealed in July and August. Mixed infections of bacteria including Vibrio sp., Edwardsiella tarda, Streptococcus sp., and Flexibacter sp., with seuticociliates were observed. Among the bacteria, Vibrio sp., was the highest frequency(40.1%), and the lowest one(10.1%) was Streptococcus sp., Mortality of fingerlings by seuticociliates was different sharply according to size of fish. Mortality of infected fingerlings below 7㎝ of total length was 53.8%, while that of normal fingerling above 7㎝ of total length was 13.2%. When fish were grown above 25㎝, mass mortality by seuticociliates infection was decreased markedly.

      • 증기발생기 세관 와전류 탐상 신호해석을 위한 주성분 분석

        증기발생기(SG) 세관은 그 가동 특성상 결함이 발생할 가능성이 매우 높으며 이들의 건전성 확보는 원자력 발전소의 안전을 위해서는 필수적이다. 이들의 가동중검사에는 ECT가 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 bobbin coil probe를 사용한 원전 SG 세관 ECT신호를 해석하기 위해서 신경회로망을 이용하였다. ECT의 특징을 추출하였고, 이들 중에서 단일특징 분류성능을 분석하여 유용한 특징을 선택하였으며, 또한 주성분분석을 이용하여 유용한 특징들을 정의하였다. 이와 같이 정의된 특징들로 정의된 신경회로망을 학습시키고, 학습된 신경회로망으로 미지의 결함신호에 대해서 결함의 분류와 크기 산정을 수행하였다. 수치해석으로 만들어진 모사 ECT신호에 대해서 적용한 결과, 주성분분석으로 정의된 특징들을 사용하는 경우에 보다 적은 수의 특징을 사용함에도 불구하고 신호해석의 성능이 향상되었다. 따라서, 주성분 분석은 ECT신호와 같은 다변량 데이터를 처리하는데 매우 유용함을 알 수 있었다.

      • 생체분해성 고분자를 이용한 사시수술용 제형개발 및 효용성에 대한 연구

        A new device, muscle clamping system was developed to facilitate exact quatifying technique A strabismus surgery, and reduce the risk of complications. The device is composed of a lower fixing body with three jaws and an upper supporting body. They are used to clip an extraocular muscle and fix it to the sclera with a single bite. Superior rectus recession on 16 rabbit eyes were performed with this new device. Conjunctival injection, muscle adhesion strength, and light microscopic findings were examined at 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks postoperatively. The Conjunctival injection were minimal, adhesion power ranged from 420 to 600 gram gravity, which is sufficient in withstand the normal pull of human extraocular muscle. In microscopic exam, some Inflammatory cells and fibrosis were found. The new device was technically easy, fast, and accurate, so it may be useful in stabismus surgery.

        Biodegradable retinal fixation devices obtain mechnical fixation of the retina with desirable chorioretinal scarring and with the potential for local, sustained release of antimetabolites and steroids to inhibit proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack with barb that was designed in order to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. This study was carried to evaluate the efficacy for retinal fixation and the capability for sustained release of drugs with a newly designed biodegradable retinal tack Biodegradable retinal tacks were made of polymers of glycolic acids and were designed with barbs in a shape to prevent the disinsertion. Biodegradale retinal tacks are divided into 3 parts, a conical portion that is inserted into the sclera, a cylinder portion that remains in the vitreous, and a neck portion between the pin and the cylinder. The tapered conical end was manufactured to allow easy insertion through the retina and choroid into the sclera. A cylinder portion was manufactured with a tapered angle that fixes firmly into the orifice of 19 gauge spinal needle. A neck portion, 0.4 mm in diameter, was designed to prevent disinsertion from following implantation of retinal tack. The applicator was a 19 gauge spinal needle and its orifice was prepared to 15°angle to accept the tapered cylinder portion of the retinal tack. The retinal tacks, secured in the needles, were passed through the formed vitreous and inserted into the retina, choroid, and sclera and were released by pushing the internal needle, usually within 2-3mm of the medullary ray of the posterior rabbit retina A retinal tack was placed in each of 8 pigmented rabbit eyes. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy and fundus photography were performed periodically from 1 day to 8 weeks after surgery. Eight eyes were enucleated and studied by light microscopy at 8 weeks. Biomicroscopic evaluation of the animals revealed edemas adjacent to the retinal surfaces immediately after insertion of the biodegradable retinal tacks in all the animals. These edemas disappeared after 1 week. The first noticeable change in the size of retinal tacks was shown after 2weeks. The size of the retinal tacks gradually got smaller, decreasing to about one-half at 4 weeks and about one-third at 8 weeks. All retinal tacks remained in inserted places without any movement for an 8 week period. On light microscopy, epiretinal proliferations were seen to extend into the vitreous cavity. Cellular capsules that lined the inner aspect of the scleral defect caused by tack insertion were found. However the adjacent retina had a normal cytologic appearance and architecture in all specimens. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack that is designed to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. All biodegradable retinal tacks reduce in size with time, but no retinal tacks extruded from the inserted place. The newly designed biodegradable retinal tack can be used for retinal fixation and may be used as a vehicle for the introduction of pharmacologic agents to prevent the cellular events that promote proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

        Maxillary total arch distalization using midpalatal mini-implant: Case report

        Orthodontic mini-implant is usually placed in the buccal interdental area for molar distalization or total arch distalization. However, this requires timely replacement of the mini-implant to prevent contact between root and mini-implant and ensuing root resorption. Alternatively, midpalate may be considered as the mini-implant placement site because it has considerably dense bone and there is no interference with roots. Also, distalization forces may be designed to pass through the center of resistance of dentition for translatory distal movement. In this case report, end-on Class II occlusion with lip protrusion was successfully treated by applying distal forces from a transpalatal arch to a lever attached to two midpalatal mini-implants. Anti-rotation bends were bent on transpalatal arch to prevent mesial rotation of first molars during distalization. Another benefit of this approach is that molar distalization may be initiated at the beginning of treatment because distal tipping of molars can be prevented by applying distal force at the level of the center of resistance of molars thus eliminating the need of stiff rectangular archwire. With this approach, time-consuming molar distalization may be initiated at the beginning of treatment and therefore, overall treatment duration can be reduced.

      • Empirical test of an explanatory theory of postpartum fatigue in Korea

(2010)</SMALL> Empirical test of an explanatory theory of postpartum fatigue in Korea. <I>Journal of Advanced Nursing</I> <B>66</B>(12), 2627–2639.</P><P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>Aim. </B> This paper is a report of a study designed to test an explanatory theory of postpartum fatigue.</P><P><B>Background. </B> Postpartum fatigue is influenced by various factors and affects a mother’s performance. A full understanding of postpartum fatigue is very important for developing effective nursing strategies to reduce postpartum fatigue and enhance mothers’ performance.</P><P><B>Methods. </B> Healthy postpartum women were recruited from five medical centers and one midwifery office in urban area in Korea (<I>n</I> = 291) by convenience sampling. Data were collected at 4‐ to 8‐week follow‐up visits after childbirth in 2006, using a self‐report questionnaire. The proposed fatigue theory incorporated postpartum fatigue, postpartum depression, sleep quality, childcare stress, unsatisfactory feeding, social support, infant difficulty and satisfaction with <I>Sanhujori</I>, the Korean traditional postpartum care provided for 3 weeks following delivery by non‐professional caregivers. Structural equation modelling was used to test the explanatory theory of postpartum fatigue.</P><P><B>Results. </B> The modified fatigue theory showed good fit and high compatibility with the empirical data. In the final explanatory theory, postpartum depression and sleep quality directly affected postpartum fatigue, while childcare stress and the cultural phenomenon of <I>Sanhujori</I> had indirect effects on postpartum fatigue, via postpartum depression and sleep quality respectively.</P><P><B>Conclusion. </B> These findings suggest the potential role of comprehensive nursing focused on decreasing postpartum depression and improving sleep quality as a way to decrease postpartum fatigue. Also, nursing strategies for decreasing childcare stress and enhancing <I>Sanhujori</I> satisfaction may be helpful in reducing postpartum fatigue in Korean mothers.</P>
