        Evaluation of Anterior Ethmoidal Artery by 320-Slice CT Angiography with Comparison to Three-Dimensional Spin Digital Subtraction Angiography: Initial Experiences

        Objective: To explore the usefulness of 320-slice CT angiography (CTA) for evaluating the course of the anterior ethmoidal artery (AEA) and its relationship with adjacent structures by using three-dimensional (3D) spin digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as standard reference. Materials and Methods: From December 2008 to December 2010, 32 patients with cerebrovascular disease, who underwent both cranial 3D spin DSA and 320-slice CTA within a 30 day period from each other, were retrospectively reviewed. AEA course in ethmoid was analyzed in DSA and CTA. In addition, adjacent bony landmarks (bony notch in medial orbital wall, anterior ethmoidal canal, and anterior ethmoidal sulcus) were evaluated with CTA using the MPR technique oriented along the axial, coronal and oblique coronal planes in all patients. The dose length product (DLP) for CTA and the dose-area product (DAP) for 3D spin DSA were recorded. Effective dose (ED) was calculated. Results: The entire course of the AEA was seen in all 32 cases (100%) with 3D spine DSA and in 29 of 32 cases (90.1%) with 320-slice CTA, with no significant difference (p = 0.24). In three cases where AEA was not visualized on 320-slice CTA, two were due to the dominant posterior ethmoidal artery, while the remaining case was due to diminutive AEA. On MPR images of 320-slice CT, a bony notch in the orbital medial walls was detected in all cases (100%, 64 of 64); anterior ethmoidal canal was seen in 28 of 64 cases (43.8%), and the anterior ethmoidal sulcus was seen in 63 of 64 cases (98.4%). The mean effective dose in CTA was 0.6 ± 0.25 mSv, which was significantly lower than for 3D spin DSA (1.3 ± 0.01 mSv) (p < 0.001). Conclusion: 320-slice CTA has a similar detection rate for AEA to that of 3D spin DSA; however, it is noninvasive, and may be preferentially used for the evaluation of AEA and its adjacent bony variations and pathologic changes in preoperative patients with paranasal sinus diseases.       • Research on Narrowband Interference Suppression and Diversity Characteristics in Fast Frequency-Hopping Communication Systems

        Frequency-hopping communication has the capability to resist narrowband interference, which is in direct proportion to the hopping rate. In frequency-hopping system, interference signals exist in partial de-hopping frequency-hopping signals, equivalent to time-varying interference signals existed in the frequency-hopping signals. Through integrating the diversity combining techniques of fast frequency-hopping communication with singular value decomposition method, this paper detects the frequency-hopping points, masks them, and then combines with undisturbed frequency-hopping signals. MATLAB simulation shows that narrowband interference is well restrained and the system BER is obviously improved.

        Study on stiffness deterioration in steel-concrete composite beams under fatigue loading

        The purpose of this paper is to investigate the degradation law of stiffness of steel-concrete composite beams after certain fatigue loads. First, six test beams with stud connectors were designed and fabricated for static and fatigue tests. The resultant failure modes under different fatigue loading cycles were compared. And an analysis was performed for the variations in the load-deflection curves, residual deflections and relative slips of the composite beams during fatigue loading. Then, the correlations among the stiffness degradation of each test beam, the residual deflection and relative slip growth during the fatigue test were investigated, in order to clarify the primary reasons for the stiffness degradation of the composite beams. Finally, based on the stiffness degradation function under fatigue loading, a calculation model for the residual stiffness of composite beams in response to fatigue loading cycles was established by parameter fitting. The results show that the stiffness of composite beams undergoes irreversible degradation under fatigue loading. And stiffness degradation is associated with the macrobehavior of material fatigue damage and shear connection degradation. In addition, the stiffness degradation of the composite beams exhibit S-shaped monotonic decreasing trends with fatigue cycles. The general agreement between the calculation model and experiment shows good applicability of the proposed model for specific beam size and fatigue load parameters. Moreover, the research results provide a method for establishing a stiffness degradation model for composite beams after fatigue loading.

        Remote Fault Diagnosis Method of Wind Power Generation E quipment Based on Internet of Things

        According to existing study into the remote fault diagnosis procedure, the current diagnostic approach has animperfect decision model, which only supports communication in a close distance. An Internet of Things (IoT)-based remote fault diagnostic approach for wind power equipment is created to address this issue and expandthe communication distance of fault diagnosis. Specifically, a decision model for active power coordination isbuilt with the mechanical energy storage of power generation equipment with a remote diagnosis mode set bydecision tree algorithms. These models help calculate the failure frequency of bearings in power generationequipment, summarize the characteristics of failure types and detect the operation status of wind powerequipment through IoT. In addition, they can also generate the point inspection data and evaluate the equipmentstatus. The findings demonstrate that the average communication distances of the designed remote diagnosismethod and the other two remote diagnosis methods are 587.46 m, 435.61 m, and 454.32 m, respectively,indicating its application value.

        N-doped porous carbons with increased yield and hierarchical pore structures for supercapacitors derived from an N-containing phenyl-riched copolymer

        N-doped porous carbon-based materials (NPCMs) with hierarchical pore structures have beenconsidered to be a suitable alternative to meet the ever-increasing demands for supercapacitors;however, the universally low yield of the NPCMs has restricted their practical applications. Herein, aseries of NPCMs with hierarchical pore structures are synthesized with significantly increased yieldsthrough the carbonization of the copolymer made from 2,4,6-tris(chloromethyl)mesitylene and pphenylenediamine. The development of the hierarchical pore structures and the N content of the NPCMsshow opposite dependences on the increasing carbonization temperature. The NPCM exhibits the bestcapacitive ability only if the sufficiently developed hierarchical structures and moderate N content areachieved simultaneously. Therefore, NPCM-600 that is carbonized at 600 C with an excellent yield of53.6% (wt.), large specific surface area of 1778 m2 g 1, and N content of 4.13% (wt.) yields an ideal specificcapacitance of 298 F g 1 at the current density of 1 A g 1 and a perfect cycling stability of the capacitanceafter 10,000 cycles at 10 A g 1. The yield of the NPCM-600 is considerably higher than those for manyother recently reported NPCMs. NPCM-600 also shows better capacitance than those of the otherreported NPCMs, such as NOPC-bis-CN-3 (167 F g 1) and CHCPB-K-600 (260 F g 1).

        One-Pot Synthesis of α-Fe2O3 Nanospindles as High-Performance Lithium-Ion Battery Anodes

        Hematite nanospindles with a uniform size of ~270 nm in length and ~90 nm in width are prepared using a facile one-step hydrothermal method. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) serves as a structure-directing agent to control the primary morphology and aggregations. When evaluated as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), the electrode of sodium alginate (SA) binder exhibits a much better electrochemical performance than that with the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) binder. Remarkably, the electrode using SA binder can deliver a high reversible specific capacity of 979mAh · g -1 after 50 cycles and prominent rate capability. The microstructural evolution of the nanospindles after the electrochemical cycling is investigated by scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). Our results may provide important mechanistic insights for the design of nanostructured anode materials for LIBs.

        Four species of the genus Stibadocerella Brunetti, 1918 were previously known from the world. Here one new species, Stibadocerella shennongensis Zhang & Yang, sp. nov. is reported from Hubei, China. New record Stiba docerella pristina Brunetti, 1918 from Hainan, China is re-described and illustrated.         TiO 2 SUB-MICROSPHERES AS A BI-FUNCTIONAL SCATTERING LAYER FOR HIGH- PERFORMANCE DYE-SENSITIZED SOLAR CELLS

        The sub-microspheres play multiple roles in enhancing dye adsorption and light-scattering toimprove the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this work, the well-de¯ned TiO 2sub-microspheres with anatase granular-like nanocrystals are prepared in high yield by com-bining hydrolytic process with solvothermal treatment. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) andtransmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicated that plenty of rhombic nanoparticleswith ? 18 nm diameter having mutual contacts to neighboring nanoparticles were densely self-assembled into sub-microspheres, and abundant mesopores existed in the whole sub-microsphereswith superior light scattering ability. The appropriate pore diameter and relatively high speci¯csurface area of the as-obtained sub-microsphere result in a higher dye adsorption. As expected, byusing the sub-microspheres as a scattering layer, a higher photovoltaic conversion e±ciency of10.15% is obtained for DSSCs.
