      • Inter- and Intralayer Compression of Germanane

        Ma, Yanmei,Chen, Yuanzheng,Ma, Yanming,Jiang, Shishi,Goldberger, Josh,Vogt, Thomas,Lee, Yongjae American Chemical Society 2014 JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY C - Vol.118 No.48

<P>The inter- and intralayer compression in germanane (GeH) were investigated at room temperature and pressures up to 10 GPa using a diamond-anvil cell (DAC) in combination with X-ray diffraction and micro-Raman spectroscopy. To examine the effect of the pressure-transmitting medium (PTM) on the interlayer compression leading to a possible insertion and exfoliation, two separate experiments were performed using water as PTM and no PTM. The results indicate that both the inter- and intralayer compression are dependent on the PMT, and the linear compressibility is 0.0274(1) and 0.0031(9) GPa–1 along the <I>c</I>- and <I>a</I>-axis based on the shifts of the (002) and (100) reflections for water PTM, and 0.0190(6) and 0.0026(9) GPa–1 along the <I>c</I>- and <I>a</I>-axis when pressurizing without PTM. High-pressure Raman spectra indicate that the intralayer Ge–Ge stretching mode is also dependent on the PMT. It exhibits a blue-shift of 3.01 and 2.66 cm–1/GPa when using water as PTM and without PTM, respectively. The equation of state determined from our experiments yields a bulk modulus of 9.6(2) GPa with <I>B</I>′0 = 12 for GeH. Theoretical calculations were performed to understand the pressure dependence on the electronic band structure and the observed Raman spectrum.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2014/jpccck.2014.118.issue-48/jp507503j/production/images/medium/jp-2014-07503j_0008.gif'></P>

Vaginal Microbiome Dysbiosis is Associated with the Different Cervical Disease Status

        Ma Yingying,Li Yanpeng,Liu Yanmei,Cao Le,Han Xiao,Gao Shujun,Zhang Chiyu 한국미생물학회 2023 The journal of microbiology Vol.61 No.4

Vaginal microbiome composition was demonstrated to be associated with cervical disease. The colonization characteristics of vaginal microbes and their association with the different cervical disease status, especially cervical cancer (CC), are rarely investigated. In this cross-sectional study, we characterized the vaginal microbiome of women with different status of cervical diseases, including 22 NV + (normal tissue with HPV infection), low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL, n = 45), high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL, n = 36) and CC (n = 27) using bacterial 16S DNA sequencing. Thirty HPV-negative women with normal tissue were used as the control group. We found that higher diversity of microbiome with gradual depletion of Lactobacillus, especially L. crispatus, was associated with the severity of cervical disease. High-risk HPV16 infection was associated with higher microbiome diversity and depletion of Lactobacillus in high-grade cervical diseases (i.e. HSIL and CC). The CC group was characterized by higher levels of Fannyhessea vaginae, Prevotella, Bacteroides, Finegoldia, Vibrio, Veillonella, Peptostreptococcus, and Dialister. Co-occurrence network analyses showed that negative correlations were exclusively observed between Lactobacillus and other bacteria, and almost all non-Lactobacillus bacteria were positively correlated with each other. In particular, the most diverse and complex co-occurrence network of vaginal bacteria, as well as a complete loss of L. crispatus, was observed in women with CC. Logistic regression model identified HPV16 and Lactobacillus as significant risk and protective factors for CC, respectively. These results suggest that specific Lactobacillus species (e.g. L. crispatus and L. iners) can be used as important markers to target prevention measures prioritizing HPV16-infected women and other hrHPV-infected women for test, vaccination and treat initiatives.

TiO 2 SUB-MICROSPHERES AS A BI-FUNCTIONAL SCATTERING LAYER FOR HIGH- PERFORMANCE DYE-SENSITIZED SOLAR CELLS

        YONG DING,SONGYUAN DAI,Litao Jia,YANMEI MA,ZHAOQIAN LI,CHANGNENG ZHANG,JIANXI YAO,LIE MO,LINHUA HU,BING ZHANG,LING JIANG 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2014 NANO Vol.9 No.5

The sub-microspheres play multiple roles in enhancing dye adsorption and light-scattering toimprove the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this work, the well-de¯ned TiO 2sub-microspheres with anatase granular-like nanocrystals are prepared in high yield by com-bining hydrolytic process with solvothermal treatment. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) andtransmission electron microscopy (TEM) results indicated that plenty of rhombic nanoparticleswith ? 18 nm diameter having mutual contacts to neighboring nanoparticles were densely self-assembled into sub-microspheres, and abundant mesopores existed in the whole sub-microsphereswith superior light scattering ability. The appropriate pore diameter and relatively high speci¯csurface area of the as-obtained sub-microsphere result in a higher dye adsorption. As expected, byusing the sub-microspheres as a scattering layer, a higher photovoltaic conversion e±ciency of10.15% is obtained for DSSCs.

Transcriptome and proteome analysis of pregnancy and postpartum anoestrus ovaries in yak

        Zhou Chen,Jine Wang,Junyuan Ma,Shuyuan Li,Shengdong Huo,Yanmei Yang,Yingpai Zhaxi,Yongqing Zhao,Derong Zhang 대한수의학회 2022 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.23 No.1

Background: Domestic yaks are the most important livestock species on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Adult female yaks normally breed in the warm season (July to September) and enter anestrous in the cold season (November to April). Nevertheless, it is unclear how ovarian activity is regulated at the molecular level. Objectives: The peculiarities of yak reproduction were assessed to explore the molecular mechanism of postpartum anestrus ovaries in yaks after pregnancy and parturition. Methods: Sixty female yaks with calves were observed under natural grazing in Haiyan County, Qinghai Province. Three yak ovaries in pregnancy and postpartum anestrus were collected. RNA sequencing and quantitative proteomics were employed to analyze the pregnancy and postpartum ovaries after hypothermia to identify the genes and proteins related to the postpartum ovarian cycle. Results: The results revealed 841 differentially expressed genes during the postpartum hypoestrus cycle; 347 were up-regulated and 494 genes were down-regulated. Fifty-seven differential proteins were screened: 38 were up-regulated and 19 were down-regulated. The differential genes and proteins were related to the yak reproduction process, rhythm process, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, and MAPK signaling pathway categories. Conclusions: Transcriptome and proteomic sequencing approaches were used to investigate postpartum anestrus and pregnancy ovaries in yaks. The results confirmed that BHLHE40, SF1IX1, FBPX1, HSPCA, LHCGR, BMP15, and ET-1R could affect postpartum hypoestrus and control the state of estrus.
