      • Prognostic Significance of Preoperative Serum Alpha-fetoprotein in Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Correlation with Clinicopathological Factors: a Single-center Experience from China

        Objectives: To investigate the prognosis significance of preoperative serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and the correlation with clinicopathological factors of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who underwent hepatectomy. Materials and Methods: Clinicopathological data of retrospective analysis were collected for 251 HCC patients undergoing hepatectomy in this study. According to preoperative AFP level, patients were categorized into AFP-negative (0-20ng/mL) and AFP-positive (>20 ng/mL) groups for Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox proportional hazard regression modeling. Results: The results demonstrated that increased AFP was associated with longer prothrombin time (PTs), liver capsule invasion, low grade differentiation, and late Barcelona Clinic Liver Center (BCLC) stage. Moreover, the female patients had a greater prevalence of increased preoperative AFP than male patients [284.8 (3.975-3167.5) vs (3.653-140.65); Z-2.895, p=0.004]. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) rates were 78.1, 57.5, and 40.6 % in the AFP-negative group and 61.8, 37.7, and 31.4 %, respectively, in the AFP-positive group (log-rank test 8.312, p=0.004). The 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 94.4, 83.8, and 62.3% in the AFP-negative group and 87.2, 60.0, and 36.7%, respectively, in the AFP-positive group. The difference was statistically significant (log-rank test, 16.884, p=0.000). Cox proportional-hazards model identified preoperative AFP to be an independent prognostic predictor of overall survival. Conclusions: Preoperative serum AFP is an independent predictor of prognosis among HCC patients following surgical resection. Female patients have a higher preoperative AFP than their male counterparts.

        Kinetics of a Cloned Special Ginsenosidase Hydrolyzing 3-O-Glucoside of Multi-Protopanaxadiol-Type Ginsenosides, Named Ginsenosidase Type 3

        In this paper, the kinetics of a cloned special glucosidase, named ginsenosidase type III hydrolyzing 3-O-glucoside of multi-protopanaxadiol (PPD)-type ginsenosides, were investigated. The gene (bgpA) encoding this enzyme was cloned from a Terrabacter ginsenosidimutans strain and then expressed in E. coli cells. Ginsenosidase type III was able to hydrolyze 3-O-glucoside of multi-PPD-type ginsenosides. For instance, it was able to hydrolyze the 3- O-β-D-(1→2)-glucopyranosyl of Rb1 to gypenoside XVII, and then to further hydrolyze the 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl of gypenoside XVII to gypenoside LXXV. Similarly, the enzyme could hydrolyze the glucopyranosyls linked to the 3-O- position of Rb2, Rc, Rd, Rb3, and Rg3. With a larger enzyme reaction Km value, there was a slower enzyme reaction speed; and the larger the enzyme reaction Vmax value, the faster the enzyme reaction speed was. The Km values from small to large were 3.85 mM for Rc, 4.08 mM for Rb1, 8.85 mM for Rb3, 9.09 mM for Rb2, 9.70 mM for Rg3(S), 11.4 mM for Rd and 12.9 mM for F2; and Vmax value from large to small was 23.2 mM/h for Rc, 16.6 mM/h for Rb1, 14.6 mM/h for Rb3, 14.3 mM/h for Rb2, 1.81mM/h for Rg3(S), 1.40 mM/h for Rd, and 0.41 mM/h for F2. According to the Vmax and Km values of the ginsenosidase type III, the hydrolysis speed of these substrates by the enzyme was Rc>Rb1>Rb3>Rb2>Rg3(S)>Rd>F2 in order.

        Gene Cloning, Expression, and Characterization of a Novel β-Mannanase from Bacillus circulans CGMCC 1416

        A DNA fragment containing 2,079 base pairs from Bacillus circulans CGMCC 1416 was cloned using degenerate PCR and inverse PCR. An open reading frame containing 981 bp was identified that encoding 326 amino acids residues, including a putative signal peptide of 31 residues. The deduced amino acid sequence showed the highest identity (68.1%) with endo-β-1,4-D-mannanase from Bacillus circulans strain K-1 of the glycoside hydrolase family 5 (GH5). The sequence encoding the mature protein was cloned into the pET-22b(+) vector and expressed in Escherichia coli as a recombinant fusion protein containing an N-terminal hexahistidine sequence. The fusion protein was purified by Ni2+ affinity chromatography and its hexahistidine tag cleaved to yield a 31-kDa β-mannanase having a specific activity of 481.55 U/mg. The optimal activity of the purified protein, MANB48, was at 58℃ and pH 7.6. The hydrolysis product on substrate locust bean gum included a monosaccharide and mainly oligosaccharides. The recombinant MANB48 may be of potential use in the feed industry.

        An Emission-Aware Day-Ahead Power Scheduling System for Internet of Energy

        As a subset of the Internet of Things, the Internet of Energy (IoE) is expected to tackle the problems faced by the current smart grid framework. Notably, the conventional day-ahead power scheduling of the smart grid should be redesigned in the IoE architecture to take into consideration the intermittence of scattered renewable generations, large amounts of power consumption data, and the uncertainty of the arrival time of electric vehicles (EVs). Accordingly, a day-ahead power scheduling system for the future IoE is proposed in this research to maximize the usage of distributed renewables and reduce carbon emission caused by the traditional power generation. Meanwhile, flexible charging mechanism of EVs is employed to provide preferred charging options for moving EVs and flatten the load profile simultaneously. The simulation results revealed that the proposed power scheduling mechanism not only achieves emission reduction and balances power load and supply effectively, but also fits each individual EV user’s preference.

        文學 : 中韓詠竹詩比較硏究

        自古至今竹子因堅固挺拔, 四季常綠, 不畏風霜的特性受到中韓兩國文人墨客的厚愛, 喜竹、贊竹和詠竹者甚多. 近些年中韓兩國對竹的硏究有흔多, 但大部分較集中在文學、美術、工藝和産業等領域, 而有關竹的漢詩硏究則以某時期或某詩人的作品爲硏究對象, 對其中的竹意象進行剖析. 從整體上較系統地分析和比較中韓兩國詠竹詩詞中竹意象的硏究則比較少.所以, 本文在探討中韓兩國古代文人賦予竹的文化內涵和文學意象的同時,比較中韓兩國詠竹詩的異同點, 爲促進中韓兩國文化的交流和理解增添新的知識要素. The bamboos have been admired by Chinese and South Korean intellectuals and poets since bamboos are strong, upright, evergreen and resisting frost. Recent researches on bamboo in China and South Korea are mostly concentrated on literature, art, crafts and other industries, among which most researches are objected on analyzing the imageries of bamboos in the Chinese bamboo poetry in a certain period or a poet’s works. There are few systematic analysis and comparative study on bamboo imagery in Chinese and Korean bamboo poetry. Therefore, this paper explores the cultural connotation and literary imagery endued by ancient Chinese and Korean intellectuals as well as the similarities and differences of Chinese and Korean bamboo poetry, which aims to promote cultural exchange and understanding between China and South Korea.

        China's Supervision of the Internet

        이 논문은 첫 번째로 중국의 네티즌들의 수를 제시함으로써 현재 중국의 인터넷 개발 상황을 소개하고, 광대역 네티즌들의 수와 상위 단계의 도메인 등록자의 수 모두가 세계에서 첫 번째를 차지하고 있으며, 그에 따라 온라인을 증기는 네티즌들의 자유에서 발생하는 문제점이 드러나고 있다는 것을 언급하고 있다. 두 번째로 인터넷 감독을 위한 법적 체계의 구축을 포함하여 인터넷의 다양한 감독 방법, 인터넷 정보 서비스를 위한 접근 시스템의 구현, 공개되기 전의 엄격한 정보의 심사, 네트워크 주석 시스템의 구현, 인터넷 서비스 비즈니스 전제와 라우팅 노드에서의 인터넷 콘텐츠들을 모니터하는 기술적인 도구들의 사용의 엄격한 관리에 대하여 분석하였다. 중국의 현재 인터넷 감독상의 메커니즘의 주요 이슈들은 감춰져 왔다. 마지막으로 이 논문은 효과적이고 효율적인 인터넷의 감독 방법을 제시한다. The paper firstly introduces the current situation of the Internet development in China by stating that the number of China's netizens, the number of broadband netizens and the number of the top-level domain registrants, all rank number one in the world, then it reveals the problems resulting from the freedom netizens enjoy online. Secondly it analyzes the various supervision methods for the Internet, including the construction of the legal system for Internet supervision, the implementation of access system for Internet information services, stringent examination of the information before its release, the implementation of the network commentators system, strict management on internet service business promises and using technical tools to monitor Internet contents in routing nodes. The main issues of China's present Internet supervisory mechanism are covered. Finally it puts forward the corresponding suggestions for the effective and efficient supervision of the Internet.

        Adjustable wavelength and lifetime in Mn4+ ion doped phosphate glasses

        Phosphate glasses doped with Mn4þ ion were prepared using high temperature melting method. Under 408 nm excitation, the peak wavelength and lifetime of the fluorescence are related to the Mn4þ ion concentration. With the increasing of Mn4þ ion concentration, the fluorescence wavelength varies from 605 nm to 685 nm and the lifetime increases from several microseconds to one millisecond. The fluorescence wavelength is variable and the lifetime is tunable for our materials.

        Effect of addition of weak acids on CO2 desorption from rich amine solvents

        Experiments were conducted to study the effect of addition of four weak acids (adipic, suberic, phthalic and sebacic acids) on the regeneration of three types of CO2-loaded rich solvents (Monoethanolamine (MEA), Diethanolamine (DEA) and Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA)). It was found that CO2 could be released faster and in a larger quantity when the amount of acid added to the solvent was increased while other desorption conditions were maintained unchanged. Adipic acid appeared to be more effective than phthalic, suberic and sebacic acids in enhancing solvent regeneration rate. Among the three amines investigated, MEA had the highest CO2 desorption rate, while DEA saved the most energy. The effect of adipic acid residue in the MEA solvent on CO2 absorption was also investigated. The residue acid reduced the absorption capacity of the MEA solvent significantly when the solvent concentration was low and slightly when the concentration was high.

        Microstructural Refinement and Performance Improvement of Cast n-Type Bi2Te2.79Se0.21 Ingot by Equal Channel Angular Extrusion

        How to form a uniform fine-grained structure in n-type polycrystalline Bi2Te3based alloys to stabilize and improve thethermoelectric properties is the burning issue to be solved. In the present work, equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE)method was used to extrude the cast ingot directly at various temperatures to obtain the BiTeSe polycrystalline bulk alloyswith uniform microstructure. The initial lamellae coarse grains (hundreds microns to several millimeters) were efficiently anduniformly refined to a minimum of 4.07 μm at 703 K, which fully demonstrates the feasibility of grain refinement by ECAEfor cast n-type BiTeSe ingot. The average grain size of the extruded billets rapidly increased from 5.35 to 29.55 μm withthe increase of extrusion temperature from 703 to 823 K. Meanwhile, the behavior of abnormal grain growth became moreevident as the extrusion temperature increased because the growth rate increased more rapidly than the rate of nucleation. As the extrusion temperature increased, the Vickers hardness decreased gradually due to grain coarsening. BiTeSe alloysextruded at 703 K achieved the maximum Vickers hardness of 59.8 HV0.05,which was nearly three times higher than that ofthe initial cast ingot. All extruded BiTeSe billets possessed the much higher dimensionless figure of merit (ZT), comparedwith the initial cast ingot due to the simultaneously optimization of electrical and thermal transport performances caused byECAE process. Finally, the specimen extruded at 823 K achieved the maximum ZT of 0.685 at 383 K.
