Chinese New Immigrates are the Chinese people, either have the Chinese nationality, or have acquired the nationality of the host country, who emigrated overseas from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau since 1978 and stayed abroad for more than one year. The overseas Chinese in Europe include immigrant students and illegal immigrants and the number is between 2.6 and 3.2 million. The followings are the new characteristics of Chinese New Immigrants in Europe: the type of Chinese New Immigrants are diversified and the prominent feature is that investment immigrants have become one of them; the communities of Chinese New Immigrants developed rapidly; the number of elite people of Chinese New Immigrants is increased and the degree of social integration has improved; the awareness of mass media and political participation of Chinese New Immigrants are strong and the political status of Chinese overseas improved significantly. From the size perspective, Europe has become the fastest growing area of Chinese New Immigrants; from the regional point of view, new immigrants from China has spread throughout Europe; from the social status point of view, the culture of Chinese New Immigrants in Europe is lower and the social status remains to be further improved.

      • Anti-allergic flavones from Arthraxon hispidus.

        Quan, Gui-Hua,Chae, Hee-Sung,Song, Hyuk Hwan,Ahn, Kyoung-Seop,Lee, Hyeong-Kyu,Kim, Young-Ho,Oh, Sei-Ryang,Chin, Young-Won Pharmaceutical Society of Japan 2013 Chemical & pharmaceutical bulletin Vol.61 No.9

<P>Bioactivity-guided fractionation for an EtOAc-soluble fraction of methanolic extract of Arthraxon hispidus, using primary cell assay with bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMC), led to an isolation of six new flavones and nine known compounds. The structures of the new compounds were established by one dimensional (1D)- and 2D-NMR spectroscopic data, as luteolin 8-C-β-kerriopyranoside (1), luteolin 8-acetic acid methyl ester (2), 7-methyl-luteolin 8-C-β-(6-deoxyxylo-3-uloside) (3), apigenin 8-C-α-fucopyranoside (4), apigenin 8-C-β-fucopyranoside (5) and luteolin 8-C-β-fucopyranoside (6). All the isolates were evaluated for inhibitory activities on interleukin-6 release in the primary cultures using BMMC. Of the tested compounds, compounds 2, 3 and 10 were found to inhibit interleukin-6 release. Furthermore, compound 2 displayed inhibitory activity against prostaglandin D2, leukotriene C4, and β-hexosaminidase releases.</P>

Ginsenoside Re lowers blood glucose and lipid levels via activation of AMP-activated protein kinase in HepG2 cells and high-fat diet fed mice.

        Quan, Hai-Yan,Yuan, Hai-Dan,Jung, Mi Song,Ko, Sung Kwon,Park, Young Guk,Chung, Sung Hyun D.A. Spandidos 2012 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR MEDICINE Vol.29 No.1

<P>Ginsenoside Re is a protopanaxatriol-type saponin isolated from Panax ginseng berry. Although anti-diabetic and anti-hyperlipidemic effects of Re have been reported by several groups, its mechanism of action is largely unknown until now. Here, we examine anti-diabetic and anti-hyperlipidemic activities of Re and action mechanism(s) in human HepG2 hepatocytes and high-fat diet fed C57BL/6J mice. Re suppresses the hepatic glucose production via induction of orphan nuclear receptor small heterodimer partner (SHP), and inhibits lipogenesis via suppression of sterol regulatory element binding protein-1c (SREBP-1c) and its target gene [fatty acid synthase (FAS), stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD1)] transcription. These effects were mediated through activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), and abolished when HepG2 cells were treated with an AMPK inhibitor, Compound C. C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into five groups: regular diet fed group (RD), high-fat diet fed group (HFD) and the HFD plus Re (5, 10, 20 mg/kg) groups. Re treatment groups were fed a high-fat diet for 6 weeks, and then orally administered Re once a day for 3 weeks. The in vitro results are likely to hold true in an in vivo experiment, as Re markedly lowered blood glucose and triglyceride levels and protected against hepatic steatosis in high-fat diet fed C57BL/6J mice. In conclusion, the current study suggest that ginsenoside Re improves hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia through activation of AMPK, and confers beneficial effects on type 2 diabetic patients with insulin resistance and dyslipidemia.</P>

      • Influenza M1 VLPs containing neuraminidase induce heterosubtypic cross-protection

        Quan, F.S.,Kim, M.C.,Lee, B.J.,Song, J.M.,Compans, R.W.,Kang, S.M. Academic Press 2012 Virology Vol.430 No.2

Influenza virus like particles (VLPs) containing hemagglutinin were previously demonstrated to induce protection against the homologous strains. However, little information is available on the protective role of neuraminidase (NA), the second major glycoprotein. In this study, we developed VLPs (NA VLPs) containing NA and M1 derived from A/PR/8/34 (H1N1) influenza virus, and investigated their ability to induce protective immunity. Intranasal immunization with NA VLPs induced serum antibody responses to H1N1 and H3N2 influenza A viruses as well as significant neuraminidase inhibition activity. Importantly, mice immunized with NA VLPs were 100% protected against lethal infection by the homologous A/PR/8/34 (H1N1) as well as heterosubtypic A/Philippines/82 (H3N2) virus, although body weight loss was observed after lethal challenge with heterosubtypic H3N2 virus. The present study therefore provides evidence that influenza VLPs containing M1 and NA are capable of inducing immunity to homologous as well as antigenically distinct influenza A virus strains.

The workability evaluation of wrought AZ80 magnesium alloy in hot compression

        Quan, G.Z.,Ku, T.W.,Song, W.J.,Kang, B.S. Scientific and Technical Press ; Elsevier Science 2011 MATERIALS AND DESIGN Vol.32 No.4

Workability, an important parameter in metal forming process, can be evaluated by means of processing maps on the basis of dynamic materials model (DMM), constructed from experimentally generated flow stress variation with respect to strain, strain rate and temperature. To obtain the processing maps of wrought AZ80 magnesium alloy, hot compression tests were performed over a range of temperatures 523-673K and strain rates 0.01-10s-1. As the true strain is 0.25, 0.45, 0.65, 0.85 respectively, the response of strain-rate sensitivity (m-value), power dissipation efficiency (η-value) and instability parameter (ξ-value) to temperature and strain rate were evaluated. By the superimposition of the power dissipation and the instability maps, the stable, metastable and unstable regions were clarified clearly. In further, in the stable area the regions having the highest efficiency of power dissipation were identified and recommended. The optimal working parameters identified by the processing maps contribute to designing the hot forming process of AZ80 magnesium alloy without any defect.

Preparative Isolation of 8-Methoxypsoralen from the Rhizomes of Pulsatilla chinensis using High-speed Counter-current Chromatography

Quan, Gui-Hua,Oh, Sei-Ryang,Song, Hyuk-Hwan,Lee, Hyeong-Kyu,Chin, Young-Won The Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistr 2011 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.54 No.4

A simple and rapid purification method of 8-methoxy-psoralen from the crude methanol extract of the rhizomes of Pulsatilla chinenis was established using high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC). From the crude extract (233.2 mg), 8-methoxypsoralen (10.0 mg) was separated for the first time in one-step, using a two-phase solvent system composed of n-hexane/ethyl acetate/methanol/water (5:5:5:5, v/v/v/v). The isolated amount of this compound was found to be equivalent to 89% of the amount observed quantitatively in the crude methanolic extract. The final purity of the 8-methoxy-psoralen was determined to be over 98% by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-UV analysis.

      • A Node Importance Measuring Method based on Hypernetwork

        Quan Xiao,Fangli Yang,Song Luo,Lihong Zhang,Hua Zhao,Wei Shu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.9 No.12

Measuring the importance of nodes in network is an important issue in the study of complex networks. The networks in current researches are mostly based on classical graph theory, which have limitations on describing certain complex relations. In this work, we introduce hypernetwork, taking hypergraph as representation foundation, to describe relations. Hypernetwork is able to extend the modeling and describing capability of traditional network and may be a promising representation model of complex relations. However, a general lack of attention to the node importance measuring in hypernetwork, an important fundamental issue for its further application, has been noted across the majority of related published works. In this paper, we utilize the idea of deleting method, to measure the importance of node in hypernetwork through investigating the influence on the whole network when deleting it. Specifically, the influence is measured by direct loss and indirect loss. Through a calculating example, our method is compared with node degree, betweenness, closeness centrality, degree of neighbor nodes etc., the result shows this method has better adaptability and accuracy.

Aerodynamic shape optimized design for wind turbine blade using new airfoil series

        Quan Wang,Jun Wang,Jin Chen,Song Luo,Jinfeng Sun 대한기계학회 2015 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.29 No.7

This paper introduces a new airfoil series to optimize the aerodynamic shape of wind turbine blades. It is verified that the CQU-A airfoilseries exhibits high aerodynamic performance by using the wind tunnel experimental data and RFOIL. The geometry of a 2 MWwind turbine blade with new airfoil families is designed preliminarily based on the shape of Tjaereborg 2 MW rotor. A multi-objectiveoptimized model combining the maximum power coefficient of the wind turbine with minimum area of the blade surface is proposed forthe pitch regulated wind turbine. An optimized code is developed based on the corrected blade element momentum (BEM) theory andparticle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The optimization results show that, compared with that of the original rotor and the Tjaereborgrotor, not only the power coefficient and annual power production is improved, but also the area of the blade surface is reduced. The decreased area indicates that the mass of the optimized blades is reduced. It is beneficial for increasing the fatigue life and reducingcost of composite materials if the internal structure of the wind turbine blades is unchanged. Furthermore, the load of the blade root iseffectively controlled by using this alternative optimization program.

RELATION BETWEEN DEMYANOV DIFFERENCE AND MINKOWSKI DIFFERENCE OF CONVEX COMPACT SUBSETS IN $R^2$

        Song, Chun-Ling,Xia, Zun-Quan,Zhang, Li-Wei,Li, Shu-Yang 한국전산응용수학회 2007 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.23 No.1

A necessary and sufficient condition for Demyanov difference and Minkowski difference of compact convex subsets in $R^2$ being equal is given in this paper. Several examples are computed by Matlab to test our result. The necessary and sufficient condition makes us to compute Clarke subdifferential by quasidifferential for a special of Lipschitz functions.
